Anyone else? I tuned in last night and couldn't believe how bad it was! 1975 was headlining and it was so middle or the road.

Maybe I'm getting old but the music was awful!!! So bland. Im early 40s 🤣

What are your thoughts?

All of the great artists are old or dead.
Glastonbury as an event has to keep going as a cash cow, but it is hard to justify ticket prices for the line-ups they have now.
And the odd 'controversial' act sticking on some balaclavas and an Irish flag is about as middle-class as it gets. Kneecap probably shop at Waitrose.

Yes of course 'people sit down and be quiet' when we are informed and not spouting hate but that ragtag trio can accidentally shout 'up hezbollah' and 'kill yer MP' and their excitable cheerleaders go wild Confused.

Every year I look at the list of performers and every year I think "never heard of them" for 99.99% of the perfomers.

Should not Glasto be more inclusive for the more mature of us.

Not that I ever watch it but how long can it last in its current format ..

?!?
Neil Young, Alanis Morissette, Supergrass, probably Pulp, Nile Rodgers, Rod Stewart and The Selector and that’s just the main stage this weekend…

Yabu.
There's old and new artists there. Once you give them a chance almost everyone puts on a good show.

As someome who cannot sing or play an insrument but whose life would be berefit without music, I just love to marvel at the live performances, the talent, the voices, the moves, the confidence, the joy of the crowd as they sing along. I find it very moving and a lovely escape from the state of the world

neverbeenskiing · 28/06/2025 17:48

I watched a bit of 1975 to see what the fuss was about and had to turn off after one song. So far I've enjoyed Wet Leg, CMAT, English Teacher and Bob Vylan. I'm not a big fan of Self Esteem but I thought she put on a good show.
DD (11) was glued to Beabadoobee, not really my thing but I didn't mind it.

I'm looking forward to Doechii later.

Gonsmacked no-one has mentioned the might Shed Seven who played yesterday! Full set has just been added. They’ve been going 30+ years and returned to Glasto 30 years after they first played. Very excited to be going to see them in Leeds in 2 weeks’ time.Caught what they showed of Lewis Capaldi and Alanis. I wouldn’t fork out for the event myself though.
I went to the last Phoenix festival in 1997 (first time I saw Shed Seven live actually). They’d had to up security after they had massive issues the year before. They went bust after that! Shame, it was a nice atmosphere.

I watched that yesterday but wasn’t overly impressed. The setlist was a bit meh I thought and when they wheeled on that Elvis bloke it was very cringeworthy.

Shed Seven are a great small capacity indoor band for me. Saw them in Liverpool last year and they were brilliant.

PandoraSocks · 28/06/2025 17:52

I saw Shed Seven about 23 years ago in Islington. Happy days.

Indeed!

"Yes, yes the World shouldn't have borders.... but obviously we do need them at Glastonbury.... " 🤔🙄

Huge difference between international borders and physical fences to prevent a small area from being overwhelmed with unsafe crowd numbers. You can't just barge your way into Wimbledon, or the Proms either

We don't have Waitrose in Belfast, we only got Tesco and Sainsburys as part of the GFA.

Comedycook · 28/06/2025 17:55

I'm not a fan of music really but indie/rock type music in particular is just dreadful imo. Camping looks like a massive headache to me. Not to mention the woke, middle class leftie types that seem to love it...The whole thing looks like my worst nightmare...I felt like that when I was younger too.

Don't think those at Wimbledon and the proms waltz about waving 'no borders' banners though do they?

It's the optics. Glastonbury seems full of absolutely hypocritical fools.

Dangermoo · 28/06/2025 17:56

No thanks. I am not interested in distasteful political promotion.

skippersy · 28/06/2025 17:59

I think if you can't find ANY music you like at a festival as big as Glastonbury then it's probably a you problem.

pretty sure there's a carbon copy of this thread every year, it's boring.

Exactly this. It's quite a stretch to be offended at crowd control for people who support free movement. No doubt a few people on here would cheer at a few lefties being trampled to death. 🙄

Why on earth is she a legend if it's on later. I'll tell you what it'll involve loads of thickos waving flags and mo chara saying 'there's a genocide innit and at least in the troubles the ira didn't bomb us from the skies' or some such.

Your dedication to Kneecap is admirable but although they are all bilingual I don't think they have picked up English slang like innit and it was 'gratitude' that the British government didn't bomb Belfast from the skies....the IRA didn't have an air force innit?

Don't know where to start with this one.

CovenOfCheeses · 28/06/2025 18:06

Gloriia · 28/06/2025 14:10

I'm older than you but even so used to enjoy watching it even if the music wasn't my thing but now it's just overhyped, politicised woke bollocks with average singers. Obviously the Eavis family are laughing all the way to the bank but it really has had its day.

We can only wait in excitement for what profound crap Kneecap will spout later today.

Do the owners seriously think their 'the world shouldn't have borders' banners are a good idea when they are surrounded by a massive effect perimeter fence?!

We need a reform festival, with no foreign food, no foreign music and British values such as proper queuing for warm beer, an insurance based system for medical care, wife beating bulldog tattooed pink racists area, the blame foriners for everything stage,
the Nigel sings the Brexit blues and how it would have made us all millionaires if he had dun Brexit and Antiwoke songs and proper men and women’s toilets where they inspect your genitals to apportion gender.

Bob Vylan is excellent. Suspect MN is absolutely not his crowd though.

Bob Vylan are on R6 a lot. A fair few listen to that. They're not that out there.

No we don't want anyone trampled to death.

Surely though, surely if one can understand the need for rules and protocols for their fun times they can understand rules and regulations are needed for borders and immigration too? I know it's stretch to think they may be able to process such complex information.
