Anyone else? I tuned in last night and couldn't believe how bad it was! 1975 was headlining and it was so middle or the road.

Maybe I'm getting old but the music was awful!!! So bland. Im early 40s 🤣

What are your thoughts?

I couldn’t think of anything worse than being surrounded by cringey middle class dullards wetting their knickers because they’re at ‘Glasto’, and gassing up mediocre shite as ‘awsome’ and ‘ace’. Boak.

I am planning to go next year. I will totally be that person 😄

(Except for the mediocre shit bit)

'It's a condition of their licence. I was there in 2000 when loads of people jumped the perimeter. It felt overcrowded to the point of dangerous. The perimeter fence is a sensible evolution for a festival the size of Glastonbury.'

Of course it is a health and safety issue but can they really not see the irony of having banners saying no borders?! Oh hang on, health and safety and overcrowding issues must only apply to Tarquin & co at Glastonbury.

Exactly this!

Boomer55 · 28/06/2025 16:32

It’s long past its use by date. Tedious.

I was quite enjoying his set until he started chanting "death to the IDF" repeatedly and getting the crowd to join in... Not that I'm a fan of the IDF (at all!), but inciting violence live on the BBC isn't my cup of tea, so I guess you're right in your assessment!

I saw him supporting Biffy in Liverpool the other year and he was doing similar re the Met Police. And, yeah, clearly the Met has issues, but they're not all like that (and our kids' godfather is in the Met), and I wasn't keen on the sentiment really.

Elderflower14 · 28/06/2025 16:39

Just caught some of Lorde. She sounded dreadful!

Tana433 · 28/06/2025 16:39

Must admit i only watched Lewis Capaldi but i loved it and sobbed the whole of the way through! Im going back to watch Biffy Clyro and Alanis Morissette later as they are the only other acts im bothered about.

Yes I agree. Enjoyed En Vogue and was looking forward to Neil Young but his set isn't going to be televised apparently.

It is - was announced on the news on Radio2 ten mins ago.

abnerbrownsdressinggown · 28/06/2025 14:14

Agreed - I had serious FOMO the year the Cure played.

I saw The Cure play at Glastonbury - in 1990! 😱

Arran2024 · 28/06/2025 16:52

There won't be a Glastonbury next year. It's a fallow year to allow the ground to recover

Bollihobs · 28/06/2025 16:54

Gloriia · 28/06/2025 14:10

I'm older than you but even so used to enjoy watching it even if the music wasn't my thing but now it's just overhyped, politicised woke bollocks with average singers. Obviously the Eavis family are laughing all the way to the bank but it really has had its day.

We can only wait in excitement for what profound crap Kneecap will spout later today.

Do the owners seriously think their 'the world shouldn't have borders' banners are a good idea when they are surrounded by a massive effect perimeter fence?!

Indeed!

"Yes, yes the World shouldn't have borders.... but obviously we do need them at Glastonbury.... " 🤔🙄

chipsaway · 28/06/2025 16:55

RitaAndFrank · 28/06/2025 14:02

It’s the first year I don’t have any FOMO whatsoever 🤣

I’ve been saying the exact thing to my mum today!

ItsFridayIminLoveJS · 28/06/2025 16:58

I loved Alinas and Lewis Capaldi.
Wonder how Rod is going to do.
Seen him live years ago in his prime.
The 1975 were absolutely horrendous.
Either drunk or drugged.

[Waves] I was there too 😁 amazing gig.

I'm an old middle class woke fogey and I watched Supergrass, Franz Ferdinand and Blossoms yesterday - thought they were all excellent!!

I like watching from the comfort of my sofa and will probably stay up tonight for Neil Young.

AdoraBell · 28/06/2025 17:00

YANBU, I’m not watching this year.

WindySkiesAtNight · 28/06/2025 17:01

I don't recognise the names of hardly anyone performing. Feel really out of touch! I need to get on Spotify and see who they are.

TragicMuse · 28/06/2025 17:01

I’m 60 and I loved seeing Loyle Carner last night (tv, I don’t go in person). I listen to 6music. I like early Rod Stewart, would love to hear him do Mandolin Wind, doubt he will.

love CMAT and Self Esteem.

horses for courses innit! The BBC can’t show everything but it’s not all MOR rubbish…and not everyone old wants to hear old!!

INeedAnotherAlibi · 28/06/2025 17:03

Gonsmacked no-one has mentioned the might Shed Seven who played yesterday! Full set has just been added. They’ve been going 30+ years and returned to Glasto 30 years after they first played. Very excited to be going to see them in Leeds in 2 weeks’ time.Caught what they showed of Lewis Capaldi and Alanis. I wouldn’t fork out for the event myself though.
I went to the last Phoenix festival in 1997 (first time I saw Shed Seven live actually). They’d had to up security after they had massive issues the year before. They went bust after that! Shame, it was a nice atmosphere.

Newname71 · 28/06/2025 17:03

Laganlove · 28/06/2025 14:52

I’d hate to be there! Opposite of fomo

Not my cup of tea either… I’m more of a Download girl 😁

I'm just watching it now, now I've worked out how to find individual bands' sets! 😬🙈

Bloody love Shed Seven.

Saw them at Radio 2 event last year and they were amazing.
Enjoyed watching Lewis capaldi. Not impressed by Lola Young this afternoon.

Nothing would ever have me feeling FOMO for a festival where showers aren’t really an easy.

Might as well buy a plane ticket for a summer festival in a sunny country.

DiscoBob · 28/06/2025 17:10

You're not wrong. I mean it hasn't been edgy or cool for decades but now it's literally a corporate joke.
Everyone knows the lineup is a couple of big acts they spunked all the money on, followed by a few random acts that happen to be on tour in Europe anyway, then finally a load of 'pay to play' who are being taken advantage of in the desperate hope it will give them a boost in record or ticket sales.

I just don't even understand who actually chooses to go at this point? It feels like nobody reasonable would see the value.

The 1975 headlining pyramid stage? They're like a C list Indie rock band for teenage girls that went out of fashion about eight years ago. Isn't the singer a far right supporter? Or maybe he pretended to be to get attention? I don't think anybody actually likes them do they?!

So yeah. What a bunch of absolute cobblers.

I’m enjoying Weezer at the moment, they sound pretty good

Weren’t they amazing!!! No yapping or anything, just got on with the job and sounded fab. My 16yr old DD, who loves them, was in raptures.

SerafinasGoose · 28/06/2025 17:14

Glastonbury has long-since lost its way. Likewise Leeds/Reading from about 2005, up to which time I went regularly. It's been dire ever since the organiser Mean Fiddler rebranded itself as Festival Republic. Sonisphere has died a tragic death too, at least in the UK. Their 2010 festival was one of the best I've been to.

Nowadays I'd only bother going to Download or Bloodstock.

I remember back in 2005 (think it was 2005!) my sister and I decided to go on holiday together to somewhere sunny. They had radio 1 on and they were saying it was the wettest Glasto on record, it was a mud pit and everyone was filthy. We were sunbathing by the pool laughing!
