Anyone else? I tuned in last night and couldn't believe how bad it was! 1975 was headlining and it was so middle or the road.

Maybe I'm getting old but the music was awful!!! So bland. Im early 40s 🤣

What are your thoughts?

Wow! You ok with what Lucy said then? The IDF is not a group of people - it’s not like saying Death to Muslims or Death to all white men. They’re an ORGANISATION. It’s the difference between Death to Facebook and Death to Mark Zuckerberg. Two very different meanings.
He won’t shut up because of being dropped by his agent in the US 🤣- that’s not how activism works

Of course it's a group of people. It's a group of people that most Israeli civilians belong to at one point or another.

No need to search that far for a comparison. It's exactly the same as saying Death to the British Army. Your examples, not so much.

Which would be warranted - if the British Army were killing babies and children. FFS it doesn’t mean kill the soldiers! Much like Kill The Bill doesn’t mean literally. The death of climate change doesn’t mean anyone is killed. The death of the National Front doesn’t mean killing its members. The death of chivalry doesn’t mean killing nice men.

It's worked for the Pound shop Zach de la Rocha in that 48 hours ago no one had heard of Bob violin but now the (*checks") Ipswich based agit prop rap punk warriors 🙄are Propa Famous

I think it's fair to say that he saw all the media attention that Kneecap have been getting and fancied a bit for himself. A nice bit of marketing, low effort for lots of attention.

Yes. A publicity stunt and surely they have to make an example of one of thse hapless popstars to stop them all jumping on the bandwagon to get their names in the papers.

You can tell yourself whatever you want to pretend that your pal wasn't explicity calling for the death of a whole group of people

Butlins for the middle class these days.
its just woke money making bollocks

At least at Butlins you can see the stage, and get a shower without having to queue.

And OK, but I’m not sure anyone with any critical thinking skills would think he was? Anyway, looks like he achieved what he set out to.

Lalgarh · 30/06/2025 16:00

Talking about critical thinking skills then explaining that telling "Kill the Xxxx" doesn't actually mean kill them except in a different way.

Yes he's achieved publicity by inciting hate and violence, well done big Bob! You must be very proud of yourself.

"Antisemitic sentiments" - you're misquoting. Taken together with leading a chant of "From the river to the sea" and talking on stage about working for Zionists in the music industry I've no problem with the description.

Well there are Zionists working in the music business- they wrote to Glastonbury asking for Kneecap to be pulled. That’s fact.

And as we know, some Zionists are Jewish and some are not, just as some Jews are Zionists and some are not.

So a) the complaint about the letter was reasonable as the letter was really sent and did attempt censorship and b) that complaint is also not antisemitic.

From the river to the sea we have all done to death here and in real life over the last two years so if you want to believe that to be antisemitic that is up to you. Personally, I don’t.

But here we all are again wasting time on this sideshow when still today children were killed in Gaza. Children. Killed. Every day. That’s the story, that’s the issue, that’s what needs to stop.

Gloriia · 30/06/2025 16:55

Yes we know that but until hamas stop shooting them for accessing aid and using them as shields it's a bit of a status quo.

Tha gazans need to oust hamas.

Big Bob's US visa revoked. Ah well, inciting hate and violence maybe not such a laugh after all.

They’ve doubled their Spotify and Insta followers and all merch sold out. So hold the gloating Gloriia. This wasn’t about money or fame though….they’ve been talking out about Palestine for years (and Ukraine, and misogyny and racism). They know the risks of calling out aggressors…but they have far more courage than you or I.

They certainly don't have more courage than I thanks very much, just have big gobs and have incited hate which I believe can be a crime. Yayy to more insta followers, though not quite up there with a US tour is itGrin.

"As a result of their visas being canceled, the band’s U.S. tour will likely be canceled. The duo had planned to visit about two dozen venues in the United States, including major cities like Boston, New York, Philadelphia, and Nashville, Tennessee."

Think he was what? Calling for the death of people when he uh... called for the death of people?

But yeah he managed to get himself some publicity. And dropped by agent and a criminal investigation buy hey ho.

I’m not going to debate metaphor with you. He is a gentle person but I’m not going to be able to persuade you. I can see that what he said is highly emotive for you and others and I fully respect and understand your perspective. I just have a very different opinion and that’s ok too.

I've been on this earth for 54 years and I can guarantee you that no 'gentle person' chants and incites others to chant "death to xyz"

Seriously, I wish you'd just give it up now.

I'm at Glastonbury both as press and a recyclers and have been here since last Sunday and leave next Friday. As ever the best Glastonbury ever and it's not what you watch on the TV. It's both a community and a fluffy cult on the volunteer side with some of the nicest people on the planet who look after each other , chat to randoms and raise a lot of money for oxfam water aid and green peace. The authorities anf government should do the job they were elected to do and but out of a free speech angry young men pop groups who have the absolute right to say what they want and they did. Also saw a passionate and engaged Owen Jones in the speakers tent and a standout performance by Nadine Shah who along with her band were weeping to a poem about Gaza. I'm really out of the loop of progressive politics these days but many of the artists, performers and Glastonbury stands with calling out the destruction and wanton mayhem rained down on a long suffering people and rightly so.Frankly Keir Starmer and his machine politicians cohorts can fuck off with his performative knee jerk ŕesponses to the worst murders of journalists aid workers health workers and bombing of hospitals and starving civilians that we have witnessed in our lifetimes and if you aren't calling that out I don't really care what else you want to say. Israel you have lost the "room" and I don't think it's ever coming back. Gideon Levy is spot on Israel is lost in a perpetual war of trauma and anger and until it explicitly and with conscience recognises Palestian grief and suffering there will be no end to the cycle of despair and destruction.Ive been happily away from my phone for the last weeks so won't be answering so don't @me expecting a reply.

You can’t go wrong with the cannon of songs Rod has at his fingertips - I do think this is one where it’s overall very enjoyable ( great production , good band and his girl singers are really good) and he’s a very amiable bloke - to some extent though as someone else said it’s got to be like this because vocally it’s a bit hit and Miss - he’s 80 though and to be frank few singers at that age do have their original range -he has some great tunes that everyone knows and that’s part of the appeal , like it was with Elton etc - Rod didn’t write all his best ones though - others did . Crazy Horse and Cat Stevens wrote 2 of his most known ones.

Am just catching up on Iplayer watching Rod Stewart. His vocals are obviously not as great as when he first sung his hits ..as a 60 year old I cannot sing as well as I did 40 odd years ago…he is still a fantastic showman and can entertain!
My only reservation about Rod ,is that he is a fan of Reform which really has saddened me 😔

Gloriia · 30/06/2025 21:58

'but out of a free speech angry young men pop groups who have the absolute right to say what they want and they did.'

Except they don't have the right to incite hate hence their visas being revoked.
