Anyone else? I tuned in last night and couldn't believe how bad it was! 1975 was headlining and it was so middle or the road.

Maybe I'm getting old but the music was awful!!! So bland. Im early 40s 🤣

What are your thoughts?

Whatever name he uses, Pascal is his actual name.

Trying to defend the indefensible as you're a fan is not a strong position.

I've seen them inciting violence against the Met Police too. They have form. It's a shame, as musically they're ace.

Didn’t say I was a fan. I said I’ve known them a long time. Saying his name kind of shows you’re just being difficult. Elton John isn’t the artist Elton Johns name…but we wouldn’t refer to his actual name when talking about him would we.

Fortunately Glastonbury don’t agree with you and have put a statement out on the group’s incitement to hatred and violence.

Because they had to.

'than a very nice man saying he wants an oppressive military organisation to be squashed.'

A 'very nice man' Grin. Maybe a very stupid man? Getting crowds to scream death death is not the actions of a very nice man. I wonder if he even knows where gaza is, probably not.

But you’re ok with the dead kids Gloriia?

Elton John makes no secret of his real name. He's not using a name to try to hide his actual name. There's a distinct difference.

No comment on inciting violence against the Met?

No no the slaughter on Oct 7th was atrocious. Innocent people murdered in cold blood. Why didn't Big Big wail death to hamas?

I’m not sure it’s really worth it to be honest. Would you be interested at all in what a gentle person he is? Music and art use metaphor, exaggeration, and symbolism to express emotions, critique power, and provoke thought, not to give literal instructions. Protest music and art channel rage, grief, or hope into powerful language to challenge the status quo, not incite specific actions. Taking it literally misses the point - it's not a manual, it's a mirror.

Gloriia · 30/06/2025 11:04

He clearly has form for being offensive which begs the question why did they book him?

Well Gloriia, probably because there are literally 100s of things to be pissed off about right now…and he picked the one that we seem to helping with and that is causing the most current actual deaths. We didn’t help Hamas but we are helping the Israeli state. If you’d listened - that’s what he actually said

Everanewbie · 30/06/2025 11:08

This will be a good test for the two tier policing hypothesis.

A gentle person?! Did he say kill the queen and the police are pigs?

Maybe he didn't mean the queen as a person rather a collective of queens?

As an aside I wouldn't call them a punk band. Punk bands included some really talented and creative musicians.

For some reason Hamas are protested in Gaza not here. Well they were until brutally suppressed.

I respect your view Gloriia. I can see they’re not really the band for you, and that’s ok.

It isn't to do with his music. You said he was a gentle person yet he has form saying offensive stuff.

I’m not going to debate metaphor with you. He is a gentle person but I’m not going to be able to persuade you. I can see that what he said is highly emotive for you and others and I fully respect and understand your perspective. I just have a very different opinion and that’s ok too.

Gloriia · 30/06/2025 11:37

'I can see that what he said is highly emotive for you'

It isn't 'emotive', it is inciting hate and violence. I hope he gets dropped by his management and charged.

He’s independent. He’ll be fine

I wasn’t referring to a specific metaphor. The previous poster was

WaltzingWaters · 30/06/2025 11:46

Completely agree. Whilst I’ve never been, I usually love watching a fair bit of it on tv. This year I looked through and it was very slim pickings!

Lalgarh · 30/06/2025 11:47

It's worked for the Pound shop Zach de la Rocha in that 48 hours ago no one had heard of Bob violin but now the (*checks") Ipswich based agit prop rap punk warriors 🙄are Propa Famous

On a happier note, I really enjoyed the Robert Smith pop-up.

Don't you agree he should be charged for hate and invcting violence or are you sticking with he didn't mean it and it was just a publicity stunt?

Appalonia · 30/06/2025 12:06

The Bob Vylan debacle is about to be discussed on Jeremy Vine R2 show now. Should be interesting...

Where did I say it was a publicity stunt? I think it’s right to be investigated and that he should be charged if he’s found to have committed an offence. As I would with any crime. My opinion is that he didn’t but I’m not the law.

Appalonia · 30/06/2025 12:16

BBC are now saying that they SHOULD have pulled the live feed.
