Anyone else? I tuned in last night and couldn't believe how bad it was! 1975 was headlining and it was so middle or the road.

Maybe I'm getting old but the music was awful!!! So bland. Im early 40s 🤣

What are your thoughts?

The BBC's response to Kneecap is a disgrace, I really hope they lose the broadcast rights when they renew soon.

Yes I'm absolutely disgusted. They knew something like this would happen.

I hope Bob Vylan is charged and heads roll at the BBC.

Probably not.
Good luck finding a Waitrose in Northern Ireland…

As soon as they have got a couple of quid they will be in London, singing about 'the awld country' from Shoreditch.

WillowTit · 29/06/2025 06:26

Yes, all rather disappointing so far...
If only the artists were as good as the BBC technical coverage.

My DH (who's from from Ireland) opinion on Kneecrap 😭 - derivative hip hop by cosplay terrorist sympathisers capitalising on the green pound/euro/dollar exploiting Oirish 'yoof' ignorance and plastic Paddies who conveniently forget the maiming and mutilation their "heroes" inflicted on the community they claimed to represent.

Thank you, this!! How these Hamas terrorist sympathizers were allowed to perform is beyond me. I would be so embarrassed to say I like them; someone should give them & their KKK fans the news that the group they idolize tosses gay people off roofs simply because they're gay. Looks like Kneecap supporters are OK with that. And brag about it. Interesting.

Butlins for the middle class these days.
its just woke money making bollocks

Isn’t that Centre Parcs ?

BeardofHagrid · 29/06/2025 07:36

I couldn’t believe how excited they were getting over Alanis Morrisette 😳

They were interviewing the festival goers and the average age appeared to be 65 and the NHS HR manager vibes were strong.

Kneecap are very critical of the old IRA heads , calling them out for their hypocrisy in their film. From Kneecaps perspective the old generation of Republicans are holier than thou about drugs and many of them were / are informers for the Brits - or ' touts' in the local argot.

Of course not all Irish yoof agree with Mo Chara et al. Some of them are out burning down refugee hostels and other such wholesome activities which might find more favour with the Daily Mail readership.

I remember Rod Stewart playing at Glastonbury about 26 years ago. He had a choir of girls wearing school uniforms IIRC 🤢 Then boyfriend and I walked past on the way to the cinema field to see Lord of the Rings. We didn't stop....

The headline acts at Glastonbury tend to be a bit meh and bland. The second and third tier acts are usually more interesting. That said, I'm crying inside that Pulp played and I'm not there 😢

Bruce Springsteen was like this for us. Several songs in, another "here's one from my new album" and we voted with our feet. He's earned the name Mr Self Indulgent in our house. We've never regretted it.

Our biggest mistake though was choosing the Levellers on a smaller stage over Stevie Wonder on the Pyramid. The Levellers are great, and they put on an amazing performance at the Brixton Academy many years ago which we loved. But the Glastonbury set was very dark, and so too was the audience. One and only time we felt slightly uncomfortable at Glastonbury.

I've often romanticised about going back, this time with the children. My 14yo would absolutely love it. But we just couldn't do it with our 8yo autistic dd. She loves the idea of it, but the reality would be miserable - for all of us. Which is a real shame. We'll leave it to the young uns I think.

mariasanp · 29/06/2025 08:29

Yep so bland that the most shit had to use shock tactics to make up for their shittty bland music.

Yes the BV stuff was ridiculous and inciting hate.

Is that to allow BV and co to go on about zionists?

Just heard a Jewish person speak on impact of whipping up antisemitism

Dontcallmescarface · 29/06/2025 09:11

It's been a very odd one this year. I haven't watched it but I live on what is usually a very busy helicopter fight path to, and from, Glastonbury during the festival weekend. On Thursday (so before the bands took to the stage on Friday), we had them going over every 15-20 minutes for most of the day/night. There were a few on Friday after the stages opened, but yesterday it was so quiet....we're talking just maybe 5 -6 helicopters all day. In all the previous years it would have been like a scene from Apocalypse Now there would be that many going overhead. If it hadn't been for the fact that we could hear the main stage (albeit a bit muffled), we wouldn't have known there was a festival going on. As I said, all very odd.

That's not hate speech and incitement to violence is it though?

Popstars always try to be controversial we had the Sex Pistols with their God save the Queen etc but saying 'death death to the IDF' is clearly a step too far.

QuantumPanic · 29/06/2025 09:21

I thought Charli was fantastic. 🤷 She's a great performer - it looked like the crowd were having an amazing time.

ChocolateGanache · 29/06/2025 09:22

Where is the joy?! Think maybe there’s some grumpy old types on this thread…. 😆

Always have total fomo for glasto.
Would love to see en vogue, Alanis, Joy Crookes, Raye, Celeste, The Prodigy, Groove Armada, Self Esteem, - the atmosphere there is like nothing else. Long live tye magic of festivals! 🎉🎉🎉✨✨✨🤩🤩🤩🎪🏕️

I don't think being a member of a foreign army is a protected characteristic is it? So it's a stretch to call it a hate crime.

It would be incitement if we’re using the correct terminology

I was surprised how many younger people were in the audience for Pulp. And they knew all the words.

But God forbid older people go to a festival and enjoy themselves instead of sitting at home providing free childcare for a generation that openly despises them.

There should probably be a bingo card:

Unnecessarily tight trousers.
Shirt unbuttoned too low.
Hips gyrating/other "sexy" dance moves 🤢.
Young women old enough to be his granddaughter on stage for him to do said dance moves in front of.
Voice as rough as burnt toast.

That his career summed up in a few lines

National Treasure Macca had a song Give Ireland Back to the Irish. Conveniently forgotten about now

17yo DS watched Pulp with us and knew all the songs. He has a very eclectic music taste
