Anyone else? I tuned in last night and couldn't believe how bad it was! 1975 was headlining and it was so middle or the road.

Maybe I'm getting old but the music was awful!!! So bland. Im early 40s 🤣

What are your thoughts?

85 helicopters a day last year.
Even bloody Holly Willoughby arrived by chopper this year as though she's dropping in to play a storming set on the Pyramid stage.

What??

scoobysnaxx · 28/06/2025 23:50

This is absolutely shite.

scoobysnaxx · 28/06/2025 23:51

Who’s looking forward to Nile Roger’s and Chic tomorrow?! 😃

ffsfindmeausername · 28/06/2025 23:53

Why can't I find pulp on iplayer?

FormerlySpeckledyHen · 28/06/2025 23:54

Neil Young is off the scale awesome. I’m 18 again .

Meeee!

I'm not always sure watching old men crank out their classics is a good idea. I don't want Neil young in his 80s; I want Neil Young in his heyday, which is obviously never going to happen.

I'm one of those in their 40s who keep going to see the bands of my youth, but I'll stop if they turn shite with age and I'll live off the memories instead. The Neil young set sounded like a giant singalong. Can't see how seeing him croaking through the songs is really doing it, apart from people being able to say:'i saw Neil young'.

Coolasfeck · 28/06/2025 23:59

I’ve tried to ‘get’ Charlie XCX and thought maybe I’m missing something because although I’ve liked a couple of tunes I haven’t understood the whole ‘she’s a cultural icon!!!’ thing.

Based on this evening I think my initial belief was right, she’s pretty average.

ExtraOnions · 28/06/2025 23:59

Jake Shears isn’t leaving much to the imagination …

Ursulla · 28/06/2025 23:59

Well I thought Charli was incredible and I'd have loved to be there. I had heard that she knows how to work a crowd but that was something else entirely. When they were all bouncing around to that icona pop number at the end I felt quite emotional, it's such a key track for that generation, all the wee misfits and covid kids.

Hellohelga · 29/06/2025 00:01

I loved Neil Young. Ok the vocals aren’t what they were but the band was tight and Neil can still play. And those lyrics, how we need those lyrics today. I saw him headline Reading in 1995. I wasn’t young then and neither was he. Amazing.

Thegreyhound · 29/06/2025 00:03

Neil Young is just amazing, the way the set has built and built is just fantastic. I can’t believe he is in his eighties.

to be fair, apart from the fact that he's a lot greyer, Neil Young in his heyday sang, played and moved pretty much the same then as he has today

keeperofdarktails · 29/06/2025 00:03

Loving neil young. Realise I know more of his songs than i realised. I always loved the 3 H's as I call them - helpless, harvest moon and like a hurricane but I missed a bit in the middle - did he do helpless?? Guess I'll need to catch up on iplayer!

millymae · 29/06/2025 00:04

Oh yes to Neil Young - he got better and better. Definitely giving the young ones a run for their money. Love the fact he hasn’t held the mike out for the audience to sing.

Lalgarh · 29/06/2025 00:05

Raye don't half remind me of Amy Winehouse

Ursulla · 29/06/2025 00:06

I haven't watched the Neil young set yet so I don't know how he sounded but there does come a point where singers' voices go, it's entirely normal and an ageing thing. At that point they can either ignore it and trade off the fact that everyone will still pay to see a "name" or do something about it - change the arrangements, dodge the impossible notes, get some good backing singers around them, stage their performance differently. And yes it won't sound the same, but then hearing someone singing badly doesn't sound very nice anyway.

WoolwichWitch · 29/06/2025 00:08

I thought Charli must be a youngster and was going to take that into account…but she’s 32.

Indeed - I was looking for this too. Hoping it will be there tomorrow.

Mind you, it allowed me to stumble on Peter Capaldi joining Franz Ferdinand for Take me out - enjoyed that!

Ursulla · 29/06/2025 00:10

Yeah she's been around for ages. I think that's partly why she's so huge - she's got a fan base from at least three different scenes and they all seem to get behind the brat thing, whatever it means.

Theyreeatingthedogs · 29/06/2025 00:14

Godfather of Grunge was awesome as usual. Sound quality on the acoustic songs was rubbish.

didntlikeanyofthesuggestions · 28/06/2025 23:30

Charlie is going to absolutely gutted when she gets off stage, logs into Mumsnet and reads your comment

And so she should be. My opinion along with the other 18 pages worth (which you didn't bother to comment on but only mine?) is just SO fucking important

Lalgarh · 29/06/2025 00:17

Playing devil's advocate here.

Starmer is dreadful for calling for Glastonbury to drop Kneecap, who called for the murder of MPs and are facing terror charges, but..

The MP who managed to get Marilyn Mansons gig pulled ... Isn't? Considering all charges against him have been dropped though it seems pretty clear he's an Awful Person.

Nerd Manson is an old hand at the Creating Outrage For Headlines game. Would the "we welcome all views" line from Glastonbury mean they'd have him play in 2027 (most bands are actually paying to be there)?

whynotwhatknot · 28/06/2025 23:25

she is

I stand corrected then. There was bits that looked like she was singing and bits that didn't.
