Anyone else? I tuned in last night and couldn't believe how bad it was! 1975 was headlining and it was so middle or the road.

Maybe I'm getting old but the music was awful!!! So bland. Im early 40s 🤣

What are your thoughts?

We’re in our 40s and have said actually this year there’s loads we’d have enjoyed. We went a few times in our 20s. Seeing Alanis in Cardiff next week so I’ll get my festival experience. 1975 wouldn’t have been my pick but there’s so many options I’d just go somewhere else. Comedy tent on a Sunday morning with a bacon bap and coffee was always one of my favourite places

guestusername · 28/06/2025 23:00

Was good seeing Lewis Capaldi

Ezra Collective are my favourites so far

Neil Young utterly dreadful. Pretty much everything else I’ve seen so far not too far behind NY in the dreadful stakes

As mentioned elsewhere, this is the first year I don’t have FOMO

Pinktruffle · 28/06/2025 23:00

Charli XCX is shit. I know she uses autotune as a gimmick but it really looks like she's miming (I know she isn't) and she doesn't have enough stage presence

TiredArtTeacher · 28/06/2025 23:04

Doechii is amazing; I’m glad I switched over to her. So much energy!

Giggorata · 28/06/2025 23:06

Really enjoying Neil Young!
Liked Beth Gibbons earlier on.

EdnaTheWitch · 28/06/2025 23:07

I would have 100% agreed with you up until 6:30pm tonight when Pulp provided 45mins of sheer bliss ❤️❤️🙏🙏

Gloriia · 28/06/2025 14:10

I'm older than you but even so used to enjoy watching it even if the music wasn't my thing but now it's just overhyped, politicised woke bollocks with average singers. Obviously the Eavis family are laughing all the way to the bank but it really has had its day.

We can only wait in excitement for what profound crap Kneecap will spout later today.

Do the owners seriously think their 'the world shouldn't have borders' banners are a good idea when they are surrounded by a massive effect perimeter fence?!

They don’t profit from it though so not sure what you’re talking about? It’s always been a political festival and what you see on TV is less than a tenth of what’s there.

OneMintWasp · 28/06/2025 23:07

Gloriia · 28/06/2025 14:41

She is allegedly an acclaimed songwriter yet her songs consist of fuck fuck fuckity fuck.
Maybe a new style poet like The Matt Healy.

Nah there's a lot more to her songs than fuck fuck fuck. Try listening a bit more and being less offended by a swear word!!

Bob Vylan is excellent. Suspect MN is absolutely not his crowd though.

Is that the loser who chanted “death to IDF”
can’t believe people pay a fortune to watch this cringe fest

whynotwhatknot · 28/06/2025 15:14

very poor lineup apart from alanis and a couple of others- the headliners arfe not good at all compared to previous years first time i wont be watching any hl

id be disppointed if were there

I could be highly entertained at Glastonbury if there wasn’t a single music act on. But I love culture and not everyone does so I get it.

She the one!

Gutted I'm missing her live

ExtraOnions · 28/06/2025 23:20

I’m in my 50s … Teen DD wanted to watch ChariXCX, and I’m quite enjoying it, reminds me of my racing days.
Also watched Pulp, Wunderhorse, Blossoms, The 1975, Franz Ferdinand, Busta Rhymes … and many others… I’ve enjoyed it all…

Tomorrow, it will be Rod Stewart, and The Prodigy.

All of the great artists are old or dead.
Glastonbury as an event has to keep going as a cash cow, but it is hard to justify ticket prices for the line-ups they have now.
And the odd 'controversial' act sticking on some balaclavas and an Irish flag is about as middle-class as it gets. Kneecap probably shop at Waitrose.

Probably not.
Good luck finding a Waitrose in Northern Ireland…

whynotwhatknot · 28/06/2025 23:23

charli is awful miming everything

she is

HooSaidThat · 28/06/2025 23:28

I think they know that it's rather sanitized now, safe for grandparents to take their grandchildren to now.

So we get people trying to be edgy like Jedwood going on about IRA or Gaza, Knob Dylan going on about Gaza and then female singer swearing a bit because that's "edgy".

Charlie is going to absolutely gutted when she gets off stage, logs into Mumsnet and reads your comment

WoolwichWitch · 28/06/2025 23:30

Charli is atrocious on every level.

nah she’ll be too busy wiping down her knees from all that crawling around on the stage showing us her arse crack

FLOWERYFROCKY · 28/06/2025 23:32

Doechii is fantastic!

hycordantonia · 28/06/2025 23:34

Charlie xcx is awful running around the stage like a crazy woman not even singing . Raye was brilliant and the best I’ve seen this year.

WoolwichWitch · 28/06/2025 23:34

Did Charlie just lick the stage?

edgy

crackofdoom · 28/06/2025 23:35

LlynTegid · 28/06/2025 14:18

It lost the original spirit and purpose a long time ago. Making some bands or solo artists pay to attend in all but name, and then tickets not allocated by ballot or some other reasonable way.

I doubt having someone who allegedly says that Nigel Farage should be given a chance would have been considered for the event even ten years ago.

I remember Rod Stewart playing at Glastonbury about 26 years ago. He had a choir of girls wearing school uniforms IIRC 🤢 Then boyfriend and I walked past on the way to the cinema field to see Lord of the Rings. We didn't stop....

The headline acts at Glastonbury tend to be a bit meh and bland. The second and third tier acts are usually more interesting. That said, I'm crying inside that Pulp played and I'm not there 😢

Crikeyalmighty · 28/06/2025 23:41

@TheHateIsNotGood for at least half the set the BBC sound mix was totally dreadful - I thought it was for Pulp too - however switched to live stream and it was much better -

JustSawJohnny · 28/06/2025 23:42

Traybake99 · 28/06/2025 22:28

I'm not sure what assumptions you are referring to?
I don't see them doing or saying out of the ordinary in order to court controversy. It appears to be more of a case of right wing press/English people being outraged by views that are in stark contrast to their own. The same people are equally outraged by Maggie/Lizzie in a box etc but it is clearly a widely held view in lots of areas of the UK.
In order to drag them to court they would need to be committing offences- pretty sure wearing a bally and not supporting the uk or isreali government aren't offences ( however they phrase it).

On a wider point Belfast is a very political place and a lot of people are increasingly able to respect views that significantly diverge from their own. It is something that England seems to be getting worse at.

Your original comment to me stated What repeat offences do you see them commiting (other than expressing options that you don't agree with?)

Who said I agreed or didn't agree with them?

One side of my family are from NI. You don't need to teach me anything.

I'm not making up the court case, FFS. Mo was in court for 'terrorism related offences' last week!

And I'm sure I'm not wrong that they are enjoying the notoriety they're getting or that they're raking it in more as a result of the press's attentions.

I see nothing wrong with courting controversy as an artist.

Also, nice sweeping generalisation at 'the English' 😆
