Anyone else? I tuned in last night and couldn't believe how bad it was! 1975 was headlining and it was so middle or the road.

Maybe I'm getting old but the music was awful!!! So bland. Im early 40s 🤣

What are your thoughts?

I am loving what I have seen.

Crikeyalmighty · 28/06/2025 20:25

i work on that business and I’m afraid the more ‘mature’ artists ‘ in my opinion’ blow away any of the younger big name acts - be that pulp, John Fogerty ( now that had groove) or Gary Numan - then again I like rock and a damn good song and am not keen at all on an awful lot of newer acts - I like a performance and many of the more talented acts here simply aren’t shown -

JustSawJohnny · 28/06/2025 20:26

I wouldn't watch the 1975 but I thought Jade was great today.

Also loved Denzel Curry.

Anyone chatting the 'woke' crap clearly doesn't get that Glasto has always been political, right from the off, and there is nothing wrong with that in the slightest.

the80sweregreat · 28/06/2025 20:30

It’s the 90s nostalgia at the moment isn’t it!
Oasis reunion concerts will be the same , people in their 40s and 50s wanting to be young again and reliving their younger care free days with a bucket hat from the market and a sing along.

JaneJeffer · 28/06/2025 20:32

Red Arrows

Blossoms were good. They are very accomplished musicians

Bugger I missed the blossoms

And who is anyone to tell them they shouldn't?

I wouldn't go to see Oasis if they paid me but what do you want people in their 40's & 50's to do? Sit at home and get a blue rinse?!

Fuck THAT.

Tana433 · 28/06/2025 20:36

@the80sweregreat That is exactly it i think. I couldnt get tickets for Oasis but this year ive seen Holly Johnson and Bryan Adams. In September im seeing Deacon Blue for the 4th time (Rip James Prime) and then in Oct it is T'pau one of my faves from the 80s. 80s and 90s music is my happy place and i like being transported back there for a few wonderful hours.

the80sweregreat · 28/06/2025 20:41

No, you’ve read it wrong ! It’s a good thing ! More nostalgia , I hope they have the best time !
Nothing wrong with seeing your favorite band and reliving the good times

Crikeyalmighty · 28/06/2025 20:45

@binkie163 yep a bit overdressed for heat - but my issue with Pylp who I love was they needed to be louder- much louder- that’s what made it sound a bit lacklustre

Snackpocket · 28/06/2025 20:49

Just watched Weezer, very enjoyable!

Crikeyalmighty · 28/06/2025 20:52

@Gloriia indeed - as I said below as someone who works in music - the old timers are smashing it - that’s not to say I can’t like anything ‘up to date’ - quite liking this Ezra collective- at least it has oomph !!! I’ve never been keen on divas or artists like Lewis Capaldi either - can’t see the appeal, I can hear better buskers here in Bath - but I guess it’s a hard one when trying to appeal to everyone from 18 to 80

Goldenbear · 28/06/2025 20:53

Not keen on 1975 but my mid to late teenagers have introduced me to Pinkpantheress, Lola Young, Loyle Garner, I really like Pinkpantheress as original sound, I feel like 1975 is a bit psuedo Stones, although they were on the rise when I was young so it is familiar to me, I didn't really rate them then either!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 28/06/2025 20:56

Just watched and enjoyed Pulp. I bet Jarvis was bloody boiling in that jacket though.

Totally proud to be woke, btw. Anybody who sees it as an insult is a twat.

WoolwichWitch · 28/06/2025 20:57

There have been a few performances I’ve enjoyed, but in general it’s just SO BLAND. It feels like an extended Jools Holland show with a dash of BBC Introducing shite thrown in. It’s just not exciting to watch on telly, and the last time I went (20 odd years ago) it was bland and commercial as fuck even then,

All the Free Palestine stuff puts me off massively, too. Pissed white guys in bucket hats who can afford £400 a ticket waving the Palestinian flag… oh, just fuck off.

(Ezra Collective are making me smile with their tribute to teachers and youth workers, though 🥰)

Goldenbear · 28/06/2025 20:58

Yes, I thought Pulp performed well but I love Babies!

Gloriia · 28/06/2025 20:59

God, I've just watched Gary Numan again on bbc4 Grin. I liked the guitarists and their cool outfits all a bit Mad Max.

NadjaofAntipaxos · 28/06/2025 21:01

Just watched Ezra Collective who are incredible, proper hairs on the back of my neck moment And Amyl and the Sniffers, Amy Taylor is an ICON. Cannot believe the poster disparaging Self Esteems lyrics. Perhaps listen to more than 30 seconds before scoffing at this talented woman. She's recently played Sally Bowles in Caberet in the west end. The headliners are meh, but there are still some fantastic acts amongst the rest of the music.

Gloriia · 28/06/2025 21:03

'Just watched Ezra Collective who are incredible'

Yes really joyful and uplifting.

Shudacudawuda · 28/06/2025 21:03

Just watched Raye, she was INCREDIBLE.

Oh GOD, yesss!!! I was so excited to see him, as I missed seeing him live back in the day. He seemed tired and breathless and just not that into it. The bit with Mariah on the big screen was cringe too. She was in the UK last week. Eek.

samarrange · 28/06/2025 21:08

If anyone is involved in setting pub quizzes: This was the first song played at the first ever Glastonbury.

it went on and on and on, felt as if it was never going to end and not in good way.

Watching Pulp on catch up now, oh the memories are washing over me and a can feel a few tears starting recalling how many people I have lost since those days. I too am thinking Jarvis must almost be boiled alive in that jacket

Anyone chatting the 'woke' crap clearly doesn't get that Glasto has always been political, right from the off, and there is nothing wrong with that in the slightest.

It's always been a bit political, but I don't think anyone was aware the politics included racism and anti-Semitism until Corbyn. And I don't think anyone realised it included celebrating terrorists, murderers and rapists, until now. Or supported calling for the death of our ally's soldiers. If you don't see anything wrong with these politics, that's between you and your conscience. Personally, I think anyone who supports hezbollah, hamas etc should be sent to join them.
