Anyone else? I tuned in last night and couldn't believe how bad it was! 1975 was headlining and it was so middle or the road.

Maybe I'm getting old but the music was awful!!! So bland. Im early 40s 🤣

What are your thoughts?

I haven’t used the word ‘woke’. It’s not in my vocabulary.

Won’t derail the thread by going into a big explanation of why I don’t like the free Palestine stuff at music gigs, but in summary, it’s politics for lazy, privileged people. Predictable and boring and affects zero change.

it went on and on and on, felt as if it was never going to end and not in good way.

Watching Pulp on catch up now, oh the memories are washing over me and a can feel a few tears starting recalling how many people I have lost since those days. I too am thinking Jarvis must almost be boiled alive in that jacket

Something Changed and Babies brought a tear or two for me as well.💔

It's always been a bit political, but I don't think anyone was aware the politics included racism and anti-Semitism until Corbyn. And I don't think anyone realised it included celebrating terrorists, murderers and rapists, until now. Or supported calling for the death of our ally's soldiers. If you don't see anything wrong with these politics, that's between you and your conscience. Personally, I think anyone who supports hezbollah, hamas etc should be sent to join them.

I think that the atrocities committed by Hammas were appalling and I also think that this is horrific too more than 50,000 children reportedly killed or injured in the Gaza Strip (figures from Unicef, so can be considered accurate)

Something Changed is one of my top five songs of all time. Love it.

Anyone else here remember when Steve Hillage was the headline at the one and only Stage? I think it was 79.....I was there.

Crikeyalmighty · 28/06/2025 21:25

An awful lot of backing tapes being used too by some artists - you can’t double track yourself on stage - and some don’t appear to be playing live .

Crikeyalmighty · 28/06/2025 21:26

@TheHateIsNotGood I know Steve - fabulous chap - ‘oh me oh my there’s a light in the sky’ - !!! Still going strong

Willyoujustbequiet · 28/06/2025 21:27

AlwaysBeingMe · 28/06/2025 15:35

Yes, all rather disappointing so far...
If only the artists were as good as the BBC technical coverage.

My DH (who's from from Ireland) opinion on Kneecrap 😭 - derivative hip hop by cosplay terrorist sympathisers capitalising on the green pound/euro/dollar exploiting Oirish 'yoof' ignorance and plastic Paddies who conveniently forget the maiming and mutilation their "heroes" inflicted on the community they claimed to represent.

I'm 100% with your DH and not watching because of those absolute hypocritical knobheads.

RaininSummer · 28/06/2025 21:29

Loved Gary Numan and seeing his daughters perform. Really enjoyed Wet Leg. Raye and Self Esteem aren't my thing. Wasn't sure about Amyl. Peter Capaldi with FF was cool. Gutted that Blossoms dont seem to be on the replay list.

TheHateIsNotGood · 28/06/2025 21:31

@Crikeyalmighty thank him from a 16 year old who has yet to recover from his amazing set (and laser show) twas great times.

suburburban · 28/06/2025 21:32

Watching g the Frank Ferdinand with Peter Capaldi, brilliant

WoolwichWitch · 28/06/2025 21:32

@lifeonmars100

it was Ukraine flags a few years ago and artists wanging on about standing with Ukraine, Now it’s Palestine.

Twice as many people have been killed in Ukraine but it seems that’s not fashionable with Glasto ravers this year. Dead kids in Myanmar and Sudan aren’t important enough for flag waving and virtual signalling rants, either.

And if Glastonbury was welcoming bands who were draping themselves in the Israeli flag, screaming support for the IDF and chanting "Kill Palestinians!", you'd have a point. Instead, they're welcoming famous hamas supporter and avowed anti-Semite Jeremy Corbyn to give a speech, inviting bands who wave hezbollah flags, and 'artists' who lead chants shouting for the death of Israeli soldiers - and telling anyone who doesn't like it to fuck off as this is what Glastonbury stands for now. Which suggests that anyone supporting Glastonbury now is declaring they're fine with it. I'm not. But then, I really hate bigotry of any kind. I guess people are different.

If you're referring to Kneecap then my feelings are that the vast majority of what they say is by design - they're trying to be 'scandalous' for attention, in the same way eg the Sex Pistols did in the 70's.

I take it all with a skip load of salt, basically.

I think they're likely to stop when one of them gets banged up for repeat offending, but by then they'll have notoriety and that is their aim.

They're pushing to the extremes and it's working because everyone is talking about it.

The hypocrisy and sheer lack of critical thinking is astounding, isn’t it?

Agreed.

One vile act does not excuse another and Israel are indiscriminately hitting out at Palestinians, not just Hammas.

So if I draped myself in a Swastika and a KKK mask then leapt onto the stage screaming "bring back death camps! kill all black people!" you'd just figure I was doing it by design, "trying to be 'scandalous' for attention". And you'd "take it all with a skip load of salt". Interesting.

This - except without the pinch of salt. Kneecap are nasty little cunts and I don’t think they should be allowed to play, but I do think most of it is nasty posturing rather than genuine concern.

Crikeyalmighty · 28/06/2025 21:42

@AlwaysBeingMesmart man your H - shock factor , works on the all PR attracts attention mindset .

TheHateIsNotGood · 28/06/2025 21:43

I gave up on Glastonbury once CND took it over, although my sentiments ally with them - it wasn't supposed to be about political causes and headlining Judy effing Tzuke was the turning point for me.

That's when I started describing Glastonbury as a "Worthy Cause" and left it to the day's 'movers and groovers'.

The odd occasion when I watch a bit - Christine and the Queens are the only stand out. Alanna will always be great with or without Glastonbury.

PuppyMonkey · 28/06/2025 19:07

I sort of agree, although I sometimes watch along when I’ve had a glass or two and it’s not so bad. What’s worse is when Radio 2 and 6 Music are continuously playing clips of the bands that have played earlier and they sound so bloody awful. Just play the actual record rather than a squawking live version that makes no sense and has no visual context.Confused

I REALLY hate that. They do it for months, the same as whenever they have sessions in their studios like the Piano Rooms or their 'In the Park' festival or whatever. If I wanted to listen to live music of bands I like then I know where I can go to do it, on my own time. Prime time radio absolutely is not the time to playing footage of live sessions. It usually sounds a bit chaotic or off-key and you've got to really like an artist to put up with that. It totally puts me off. I usually change over to Radio 4 or Absolute Radio.

Although I will say that today they played a song from the Self Esteem live set and she was superb as always. But that's an exception to the rule.

This thread confirms theres no accounting for taste! Some people’s idea of brilliance is my idea of hell and vice versa! I think thats the point of Glastonbury though
