Iran and its proxies, including the terrorist organizations Hamas and Hezbollah, seek to plunge the region into a future of endless hatred and violence. They want their cult of death to indoctrinate the minds of yet another generation.

And they want to deny Israelis, Palestinians, and a host of Arab states the ability to advance a future of further integration, prosperity, and coexistence across the region.
They should not allowed to succeed.

Whereas Israel who are bombing Lebanon despite agreeing to a ceasefire, bombing Yemen, have invaded and are violently occupying Syria, are bombing Iran, committing atrocities in the West Bank and shooting starving people in Gaza, violating international law in all of those areas are a shining beacon of light in the Middle East desperately working towards peace.

That may be your interpretation of Iran's wishes and many would agree with you and others would partially agree.

But you have entirely left out the facts wrt Israel and their genocidal actions in Gaza, their multiple, unprovoked attacks on many other countries in the region, including, most recently Iran itself. How many countries are they fighting now? Is it 5? They have just agreed to a ceasefire and broken it within a few hours (no evidence that Iran has launched missiles that I have seen and their actions in the last few days suggest that they have not).
They have proclaimed that they want to achieve regime change in Iran and assassinate their supreme leader. Israel also has nuclear weapons and declines all inspections, whereas Iran has agreed to inspections and complied with them, up until the recent disagreement with the IEAE. Israel has only been allowed to get away with appalling violence and aggression, even to the point of deliberately starving the population in Gaza because they have the backing of the US and a blind eye has been turned again and again.
Can we have some balance please?

MushMonster · 24/06/2025 12:36

The breach of the ceasefire is a shame, whoever did it, damn them. There was a chance of peace. Let's hope it holds, somehow.
For once, Trump is right to be well disappointed.
Whether anyone can contain what has been started, we can only hope, wish or pray.

I wish I could be optimistic about these ceasefires but they seem to be fairly pointless nowadays. Israel has recently broken other ceasefires so this is no surprise, unfortunately.

Good I hope the operation has been successful and irans nuclear capability has been destroyed. Iran is a threat to the west - I don’t think we should be involved in regime change (particularly after disastrous interventions in Lebanon and Syria but I support this action.

Every country in the world has a right to develop their own weapons.
Have you forgotten this was the same lie sold to invade Iraq.

@Porridgepuddingdo you mean Iran should develop nuclear weapons if that’s their wish?

FOJN · 24/06/2025 14:09

Trump is not happy about the ceasefire being broken. He drops an F bomb at 3.18 to express his frustration. I think he's more bothered about alienating his MAGA base but it will be interesting to see how Israel responds to his unequivocal, public condemnation.

To see him condemning Israel for unloading bombs ‘like he’s never seen before’ one hour after the ceasefire, for a single stray missile, one hopes the penny has dropped, he’s been played like a fiddle by Netanyahu.

FOJN · 24/06/2025 14:25

His strong reaction is because he is embarrassed, his ego has been hit. He knows he has been played. He dropped the bombs for Netanyahu and Netanyahu couldn't give a shit about him and gives nothing in return. The Israeli government looks out for Israel end of, there are no allies just countries they use to achieve their aims. Look at how quick they were to accuse the UK government of being terrorist supporters and tried to blackmail them with more West Bank annexation if the UK recognised Palestine. Toe the line or the Israeli government will smear your name and turn on you quicker than a rabid dog.

It's nothing new though, is it? Israel have been breaking international law for years and none of their western supporters have withdrawn support no matter what they have done.

Sometimes it's hard to know if the half hearted condemnation they occasionally receive is real or just theatre. I could even believe that Trumps apparent fury is just more misdirection. We know that when he stated he was undecided about whether the US would launch strikes on Iran that the attack had been decided and plans were being made.

If Trump really is angry then I would expect pressure will be applied to make him toe the line and he will be making excuses for Israel before the end of the day, probably a lie about intelligence indicating a renewed threat from Iran.

mrsrtobinson · 24/06/2025 15:23

Palestine Action tried to sabotage an RAF aeroplane - that's treason because it's working against the elected government. (Stupidly those zealots didn't realise that the plane was being used to deliver aid to Gaza. So you can blame Palestine Action if starving people miss out on some aid drops.)

"migrants are not a threat to civilisation unless you’re a giant racist".

So why is the government going to draw up "league tables" of crimes by different nationalities, unless there is a problem?

Britain is long overdue a migrant crime league table

“Lies, damned lies, and statistics.” It’s the phrase people reach for when the data makes their worldview wobble. But in a culture soaked in denial and distraction, statistics — the ugly, unvarnished kind — might be the closest thing we have to a truth...

The problem with this conflict is that a ton of effort is going into spreading fake anti-Israel propaganda. This anti-Israel propaganda is meant to be very emotional which causes people to not think critically.

Gaza's population has grown by 22,771 in the last year, which represents a 2.84%+ annual change. So for a "Genocide" it isn't very effective.

Ah yeah, sure if a terrorist group are doing it we should just ignore Western governments colluding with a sovereign state bombing all around them and causing 100s of 1000s of deaths and injuries.

Where are these 100's of thousands of deaths being caused?

What propaganda? You don't think 100s of 1000s of people across Gaza, the West Bank, Syria, Lebanon, Iran, have been killed or injured by Israel? Israel say that in just 12 days of their conflict with Iran 28 people were killed and over 3000 injured and you are doubting that in 21months Israel have killed or injured 100s of 1000s over multiple territories?

The 100s of 1000s of deaths and injuries are across Gaza, the West Bank, Lebanon, Yemen, Syria, Iran. All of the places Israel have been attacking over the past 21months. Taking Israels figures if their conflict with Iran kept up for a year that would be almost 100,000 injuries in Israel and you are doubting that more than this has occurred across multiple countries who have had large bombs repeatedly dropped on them?

I'd like to see where your figures came from?

Do you remember that Hamas put out the information that Israel had bombed a hospital and killed 500 people?
In actual fact it was a stray rocket that they had fired themselves that fell in the hospital car park denting the ground and damaging a couple of cars.

As I said "propaganda".
