I thought there were fine plans to bin this nonsense

So sick of having to plan around it and buy overpriced extra stuff I don't need

Ah, I've been through many airports but never Birmingham. Maybe they have different rules or you got a new / eager security person but sounds unreasonable to not allow you to then move it to your liquids bag though, even if it meant going back through scanning. I'd be gutted to have thrown a favourite item!

Last time I flew out of Birmingham, two years ago, it was so confusing. I started to take my iPad and Kindle out of my bag but the security person supervising the filling of trays stopped me and told me it was okay to leave them in. I double checked in case I’d misheard and was told that absolutely I could leave them in my bag.
Three minutes later my bag was pulled aside to be checked because I hadn’t removed my iPad and Kindle and was told in no uncertain terms that they should’ve been placed in the tray.

I lost my favourite lipstick this way. Didn’t occcur to me that a solid lipstick (not tube of lipgloss) was, in fact, a liquid. It was discontinued as well and my last one 😭

Hummus is hilarious. I reckon they took it to stop them stinking out the plane as a snack.

Oh no! Can you remember what the brand and shade name were and I can try hunting it down? (I am a lipstick fiend.)

Thanks! Oh believe me, I’ve long ago exhausted the stocks on eBay etc. it was a limited edition Poppy King sold in Boots as a No.7 collab, outside her Lipstick Queen range. Colour was History.

It was a good 10 years ago so any examples will probably be mouldy by now!! I’m happy with Revlon True Red and Certainly Red these days, but History was so good as a lighter more casual option 💋

It is a pain in the arse

we flew from Heathrow a few weeks ago and they weren’t doing it. Didn’t have to take anything out of our bags like ipads etc

You can’t take liquids over 100ml. At some airports you now don’t have to take them out of your bag and put them in a little plastic bag, but you still can’t have over 100ml

I have too, I’ve just randomly checked Manchester Airport’s security page and it says this:

Please note: Lipsticks, lip balms, and stick deodorants are not classed as liquids, so you don’t need to put these in your clear plastic bag.

I’ve just come back from NZ and couldn’t board with items that could smear. Classed as a liquid, so technically lipstick, lip balm would be a liquid to them. Granted I had over 100 ml, that was my own should fault for not putting it in check in. Was last minute supermarket run and I didn’t think

Oh that's a shame. 🥺 I always hate it when something I love is limited edition!
