Hot weather.

Anyone else just want this hot weather to fuck right off? I've had enough of it already and apparently we're in for at least another 2 weeks of it. 🤬 I'm made out to be a killjoy when I say I'm not enjoying it. Does everyone else really love it,or are they just saying it for fear of being thought odd (like me!).

I'm loving it! 27 deg C here, I'm working but luxuriating in feeling the warmth. Sorry everyone, I'm sure it'll be back to overcast and some rain soon!

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 18/06/2025 14:27

It’s crappy when you have to work! Fine if you’re off work/ don’t work but having to do anything is like dragging boulders up hill.

I didn’t feel as strongly against it pre peri menopause though!

Suusue · 18/06/2025 14:29

I hate this hot weather beyond words!

DonnaBanana · 18/06/2025 14:29

Heat is fine it’s the humidity that can clear off but not much chance of that being surrounded by water

I find it easier in the 45 degree dry heat of Riyadh that the muggy humidity of a UK summer

yes exactly, the heat in Riyadh and Dubai is much more bearable than in the UK Confused @MsNevermore100% agree!!!

I love all the weather MN hates.
I dont like summer at all it makes me ill it makes my migraines worse.

I’m pretty sure MN is predominantly summer haters/ winter lovers.

I don’t really hate any weather except rain, but I don’t like working in hot weather.

Not sure if this link will work ...it's a brilliant post from someone sweltering in Seville without AC, what not to do ....I guess the UK won't have Persianas (pulled down blinds) but the rest could be applied

NoAlarmsRequired · 18/06/2025 14:40

People not liking the hot weather isn’t going to change anything, the sun will still shine.

Glad you brought up medication How are ppl in hot flats suppossed to store meds that say "do not store over 25c but it cant be stored in the fridge cos the fridge is too cold.

Put in a cupboard, its cooler there.

Humidity is a killer. This is why I am OK abroad in Europe.

Florida is a killer - 90% humidity and in the 30s. Thank goodness every building has AC.

Wynter25 · 18/06/2025 14:48

I love it

Love her! My parents lived in Spain for 20 years it's all true. Close your curtains in the day.

TwinklyFawn · 18/06/2025 15:08

I don't mind a nice 18 to 24 degrees. However i hate it when it goes abobe 24 degrees. I get bad hayfever. When it is too warm i feel like i have a really bad cold. Nothing works to ease my hayfever.

henlake7 · 18/06/2025 15:12

Its only nice if you have nothing to do. But how many people can do nothing all day?
I never understand people sitting out in it either. After a few minutes you can feel your skin start to burn. Plus it makes any kind of activity or exercise much harder.
oh, and of course the humidity. That moment when you get out of a lovely cool shower and then leave the bathroom as much of a sweaty mess as when you went in!

Right?!
Although I’ve definitely acclimated to the heat here….our A/C is set to a pretty balmy 79°F, and 9 times out of 10 I’m still a little chilly inside. But my DH would literally melt into a puddle if I turned the temperature up even slightly 😂😂 So I have my trusty sofa blanket that I put over my legs as a compromise.
When it’s over 100°F outside, 79°F is quite a big drop to come inside to!

@henlake7

it sounds like you are in the Sahara. Are you?

InterestedDad37 · 18/06/2025 15:59

It's great! Might even sunbathe nude, in the garden 🤔😉 iykyk

Tessiebear2023 · 18/06/2025 16:07

Hot weather gives me hives and sends my blood pressure into my boots, my hands and feet swell up and my face is an oil slick. I'm not able to enjoy the sun or the heat, and leave is cancelled for the next 4 weeks. Yeah, it can fuck off.

CiaoMeow · 18/06/2025 16:46

Absolutely HATE IT.

I'm with you! I find it quite depressing that this might last for 2 more weeks.

As it happens I have a air con company coming round next week to quote for 1 or 2 air con units, I have no idea of price at all, it's something we've talked about on and off for years, praying it's not a silly amount of money.

It’s hear hear, not here here!

I’m loving the weather. Although my hydrangeas look a bit like they might not agree. I’ll be soaking them once the sun’s off them.

Isobel201 · 18/06/2025 17:09

Its not been humid here in West Yorkshire, just pleasant dry heat which is marvellous, and still a breeze so I can have the windows open.

the80sweregreat · 18/06/2025 17:10

Oh yes! Hear hear ! Sorry 😞 ..
