Hot weather.

Anyone else just want this hot weather to fuck right off? I've had enough of it already and apparently we're in for at least another 2 weeks of it. 🤬 I'm made out to be a killjoy when I say I'm not enjoying it. Does everyone else really love it,or are they just saying it for fear of being thought odd (like me!).

I’ve got 2 portable air con units arriving this morning 😊

I've ordered some new garden furniture...which means it will probably start raining soon 😅

Hate it.

It is beautiful. If I am not working I will sit in the sun all day and love every single minute.

It's only 24/25 C though, and that is not hot. Lovely and warm, but not hot.

It is meant to be 30C here at the weekend and I can't wait. The only thing I don't like about hot weather is trying to sleep, but my room is on the third floor with a small attic window so it gets very stuffy at night.

bert3400 · 18/06/2025 10:03

You all need to get portable AC units ...a life saver at night . I live in Spain and we adjust our timetable to cope with the hot weather, I didn't eat dinner till 10pm cause it was 29c at 9pm

Where are you? I’m sat in the garden at 7.55pm watching dc make up dances on the trampoline enjoying the warm weather here in Somerset.

Cornwall. It was warm enough to sit out, like I said 19 degrees in the day, it was pleasant but I haven't had a day without a cardigan on.
Having said that, forecast is wall to wall sunshine today! But it's nice and warm. Not boiling.

Wolmando · 18/06/2025 10:16

Bear in mind that if you get a portable air con that you do need to store it somewhere for the majority of the year, they are quite heavy also, so not something you want to be going up and down the stairs with a lot We keep ours in the box room which is used for storage as we use it upstairs so just wheel it through when needed

HannahTheBanana · 18/06/2025 10:20

Same here — I honestly cannot wait for cooler days, even a bit of rain would be a relief at this point. I’m so done with this heat! And yes, I feel exactly the same — like I’m the odd one out or some kind of summer killjoy just because I don’t love feeling like I’m being slow-roasted every day. Surely more people feel this way but just don’t say it?

HollyBerryz · 18/06/2025 10:30

April/May were lovely. Warm, super sunny, not too hot. Now it's too hot, it makes me feel unwell.

cardibach · 18/06/2025 11:32

DiscoBeat · 18/06/2025 00:22

I don't like it this hot. A warm spring day is my absolute favourite temperature. At least in the cold weather you can get warm. We have air con in one room but I try not to use that unless it's necessary.

In cold weather you can get warm perhaps. You’ll see in the thread that a lot of us can’t. Layers, heated blankets all that…it’s faff and at the end your face is still cold. Heating helps but is expensive and just not the same as proper naturally warm air in my view. If you wear enough clothes to go out you spend 5 mins taking them off when you get there.
Summer is easier. More comfortable for many of us and it’s short.

MerLOWnomore · 18/06/2025 00:56

I despise it, as I get severely depressed in the summer months. I presume it’s something chemical. Wish I could love it but can’t. I’m ok in early spring, but do best mentally September-April.

For those saying they don’t understand how others don’t love it/ungrateful etc. they feel the same about summer as you do winter, most likely.

I know they do. And as I’ve said earlier on the thread, I empathise. I’d just like a bit of recognition that those who don’t like the cold have to put up with it for most of the year. At least for summer haters it’s a short time.

Why on earth do you think most people would lie? Why do you think there’s a massive tourist industry geared to taking people to hot places?

dairydebris · 18/06/2025 11:42

I used to love hot weather when I was young and skinny. Now im old and fat I wish it was 22 degrees with showers and sunny spells.

Belladog1 · 18/06/2025 11:48

The very hot weather coincided with my menopausal sweats - so you need to wring me out at the moment.

I am lucky where I work as its a grade 2 listed stone building, and the sun doesn't reach our windows .... so its gorgeously cool. At home its blummin warm. I'm in Suffolk, and the temperatures have been sticky.

I don't mind the heat really. But my poor dogs want to go for walks and it really isn't doable, and I'm not into walking two dogs at night time. They are struggling with the heat and I have just purchased them a lounge fan as i felt sorry for them last night, both lying on the floor panting!!!

Swimming Pool Summer GIF

I'm OK here. I do have the most lovely neighbour with a large pool though.

DrCoconut · 18/06/2025 12:06

Best time of the year. Light nights, warm weather, not having to lump coats and jumpers around. We get so little good weather.

If you take certain antidepressants, you will need to hydrate yourself more.

Glad you brought up medication How are ppl in hot flats suppossed to store meds that say "do not store over 25c but it cant be stored in the fridge cos the fridge is too cold.

Housemouse245 · 18/06/2025 14:08

It’s unbearable now, I’ve enjoyed the nice warm spring but this is too hot. It’s hotter inside my house than outside and that’s with aircon running. I hate this weather! Plus I can’t enjoy nice walks with DDog because it’s too hot for him too 😢

WhyWouldAnyone · 18/06/2025 14:16

I love it!

Chin up, we'll be plunged back onto grey skies, wind and rain in a couple of weeks!

For you. We all like, and can tolerate, different things. It's allowed. I don't know why people get so upset that some don't like the sun.

I'm not a huge fan of hot weather, and much prefer autumn/winter, but I'm glad we still (sort of) have four seasons, and I try to make the most of each one. Not always easy when the sun gives you migraines and you can only walk the dog before 6 am and after 10 pm, though!

MN hates summer so you are completely in step there. Meanwhile I only know one person in real life who dislikes it - and that’s for health reasons, not just because it’s a bit warm and bright.
Edit: I can see your feeling is connected to health too, by the way.
