Hot weather.

Anyone else just want this hot weather to fuck right off? I've had enough of it already and apparently we're in for at least another 2 weeks of it. 🤬 I'm made out to be a killjoy when I say I'm not enjoying it. Does everyone else really love it,or are they just saying it for fear of being thought odd (like me!).

Love it
Could permanently live in Summer.
Love sitting out in the evening too
Instead of round the fire.
Love the washing drying quickly.
No.tumble drivers or clothes horse.
No wearing a coat.
Ice creams outside drinks with ice cubes.
Yes bloody love Summer me.

GreyLion · 17/06/2025 23:57

Another Summer hater here, but I am trying to hang onto a few positive points which help such as

  • It’s nice to get laundry done so much quicker and easier, without the expenses of using the dryer or having the heating on.
  • Feel much safer walking to work at 6am or home after work at 10pm it not being totally dark.

I find it harder to be comfortable in winter. There's usually one bit of my body that is freezing be it hands or nose or toes. And if you do manage to be warm outside by adding stupid amounts of clothing, it will be boiling the moment you get inside. I hate the faff of layers

In really hot weather over here it's boiling in the sun and warm everywhere else. You just get used to it.

I agree. It's winter here now and I hate it, I rarely seem to be at a comfortable temperature. Having to wear layers of clothing is always such a faff, and I'm longing for the time when I can just throw on a dress. I'm sick of going out walking and then going into a shop or the library and having to get out asap due to the overheated space. We normally have gloriously warm autumns here, so thankfully it's only really cold for a short time - but it's still too long for me.

hardtocare · 18/06/2025 00:02

I hate hot weather. I rarely feel cold in winter so summer is just unbearable to me

DiscoBeat · 18/06/2025 00:22

I don't like it this hot. A warm spring day is my absolute favourite temperature. At least in the cold weather you can get warm. We have air con in one room but I try not to use that unless it's necessary.

uncomfortablydumb60 · 18/06/2025 00:56

I'm ok so far. It's not the temp, but the humidity which drains the life out of me
My pain levels always increase My knees and ankles are swollen and muscles feel lax( CP)

MerLOWnomore · 18/06/2025 00:56

I despise it, as I get severely depressed in the summer months. I presume it’s something chemical. Wish I could love it but can’t. I’m ok in early spring, but do best mentally September-April.

For those saying they don’t understand how others don’t love it/ungrateful etc. they feel the same about summer as you do winter, most likely.

SpookyMcTaggart · 18/06/2025 04:33

Love it. I can just float out of the house and down the street in a thin top, thin skirt and bare legs. No fussing with endless jumpers, coats, waterproofs, socks...

All my tight winter muscles relax, the sky is blue not grey, flowers are out, my mood and energy soar and we can finally enjoy an evening drink outdoors. Praying it lasts more than just two or three days (we're not in the south east).

urghhh47 · 18/06/2025 05:04

I'm loving it. I'm a small skinny person with severe Raynaud's made worse by the medication I take. This is the only weather where I don't actively have to plan for my fingers being unusable. During Winter I become practically housebound and have to plan going outside like I'm on a polar expedition. (This is no exaggeration) And in this weather when I go to the supermarket and my hands go dead they warm up again from just being back in the ambient air temperature and I don't need to run them under water. They're also not as painful when the circulation comes back. I actually really need to live somewhere hot. In this weather I can talk properly all the time as my lips are affected when they get cold and I can't then speak properly.

@Projectme

24 degrees isn’t even that hot!! How do you think people in other counties where it’s far hotter than that cope??

Better than I do I'm sure!!

Projectme · 18/06/2025 05:19

RampantIvy · 17/06/2025 21:01

Why are you sitting out in the sun if it makes you so uncomfortable?

What are you doing to mitigate the effects of warm weather?

I do understand that people have different heat tolerances, but I don't think people do enough to make life more comfortable for themselves.

I try not to sit in the sun but it's difficult to avoid entirely unless one lives as a hermit , is it not?🙄
I do lots to mitigate it thank you...fans, cold scarves, hydrate, loose clothes, avoid being out during hottest parts of the day.

Christ alive. I try to mitigate as much as possible but I find it uncomfortable! Sorry if that's not OK with some of you 😁

springintoaction321 · 18/06/2025 05:21

It's not even actually hot yet - what are you moaning about??

Exactly this.

I dont know why some people dont understand that the heat doesn't agree with everyone. If you don't have adverse affects to it, then aren't you lucky!

I've never heard of anyone who has adverse reactions to the heat, other than on MN, so it can't be that common.

Jennps · 18/06/2025 06:29

What’s with the amateur dramatics on here. It’s warm, not hot. Use a fan.

Ihad2Strokes · 18/06/2025 06:59

Plump82 · 17/06/2025 19:12

Please do!! I love the heat so am very jealous of you guys down south. Although Friday and Saturday are looking very positive before back to rain the following week.

Oh no,that sounds miserable! I love Scotland 😍 but I don't think I could cope with the shortage of blue sunny days.

🤞🏼it stays nice for longer than forecast x

Mokel · 18/06/2025 07:30

I don’t mind the warm weather. It’s people who do these things that make me annoyed.
. Wear a winter coat, then complain about it’s too hot! Why wear a coat?
. Parents who drape towels and other things over their child’s pushchair. They have no idea that this practice is trapping air, making the pushchair area hotter. Please use a parasol or a sunshade.
. People who play loud (and usually awful) music in their back gardens
. People who decide to go to beaches. Everyone will have the same idea. Roads clogged, nowhere to park, queues for everything. You are just making yourself hotter

narcASD · 18/06/2025 07:36

Summer is lovely but I really can’t cope very well when it gets into the high twenties. This weekend is set to be 30 plus which makes me feel ill.
my kids don’t like it either as they wear blazers to school and not allowed to remove them in the classroom.

the worst thing about summer is the lack of sleep as find the nights unbearable

Mokel · 18/06/2025 07:37

If you take certain antidepressants, you will need to hydrate yourself more.

The south east London area always seems to be the hottest part of the country!

Yep! Moved here a year ago and I hate the heat! 21 is the maximum I'm happy with, and even then I need a breeze. Not helped by the fact that I have a job that requires a uniform, which is horribly hot....

ssd · 18/06/2025 07:45

Don't worry @JohnTheRevelator , the school holidays start near the end of June in Scotland and it always starts pouring then.
These 2 weeks of good weather coming up is our summer.

Worked at a supermarket. Though the place was cool, some places were not AC’d such as the loading Bay Area which I went there many times in a shift.

The polyester uniform is horrible in hot weather.

Growsomeballswoman · 18/06/2025 07:48

I’ve got 2 portable air con units arriving this morning 😊

I had school summer holidays in the 1990s where the last 2-3 weeks was this weather. Went back to school around 25/8 (we broke up early) and first 1.5 weeks was this weather.

The actual school holiday was cold and wet. If you were lucky to go abroad on holiday, this was the only time you had nice weather

RampantIvy · 18/06/2025 08:41

We only have three days of hot weather forecast then it is going down to 21 degrees on Sunday.
