Hot weather.

Anyone else just want this hot weather to fuck right off? I've had enough of it already and apparently we're in for at least another 2 weeks of it. 🤬 I'm made out to be a killjoy when I say I'm not enjoying it. Does everyone else really love it,or are they just saying it for fear of being thought odd (like me!).

Were you forced to have window restrictors so you couldnt open the windows properly? Our fridge freezer cant cope and often stops working. Its fine in the winter but no doubt i will get an attempt at gaslighting regarding that. Food that is not supossed to be stored in the fridge doesnt keep. No shower only a bath so i have to fill it with water more than once a day every time i want to cool down. Its always a good 4 to 5 degrees warmer in here than it is outside Its fucking unbearable

24 isn’t hot. It’s a totally normal British summer temperature. All flats have window restrictors don't they?

IsawwhatIsaw · 24/06/2025 19:17

I’m south east, prediction is 30/31 this weekend. Gets too hot to sleep properly even with fans

That’s pretty warm. Are you doing all the things you can to keep the inside temperature down?

Like I said. All flats as far as I’m aware.
Doesn’t change the fact that 24 is within the normal average range. Not blistering.

BatchCookBabe · 24/06/2025 19:43

Agree @cardibach it's farcical to suggest that 24 C is blisteringly hot. It's a pretty average summer temperature. Just because someone is in a poorly maintained, badly air conditioned upstairs flat, that doesn't mean the weather is super hot. 24 C is not very hot -just because it feels like 37 C in the flat!

How on earth is that poster going to cope when the temperature hits the high 30s? It's already hit 32-33 in parts of the UK this past week!

Well there you go, you'll be fine then. So why the complaints about the 'hot' weather, and how 'bad' 24 C is, when you can have a lovely cool bath when you need it? Wink

Yes, I keep curtains closed, windows shut till late evening, fans on. Our house is in one of the hottest areas of the Uk and faces west so we get later afternoon sun.

Mokel · 24/06/2025 22:32

Has anyone bought and used cooling pillow pads?

TotHappy · 25/06/2025 01:49

Well my tongue was slightly in my cheek, and I live in a granite house that stays cool all the time - but 24 in the shade counts as blistering here 😎 it's not a common occurrence. 30 degrees! As if

Do you run a fresh bath every time?

Could you not just keep the water in and dip in more than once?

The patronism positively DRIPS from this 😅

Growsomeballswoman · 26/06/2025 09:29

@JenniferBoothmost HA will let you put a shower in at your own expense if you complete a permissions form?

In your head maybe. The judgement drips from yours, because I wasn’t being patronising.

CastelDweller · 28/06/2025 13:16

I have a question. Why are some people being extremely cunty towards the posters who struggle a lot in the heat? Sarcasm, condescension and thinly veiled mocking in a lot of the posts, especially the last couple of pages.

I can’t imagine going on to a thread in Winter where people are having a moan about how much they hate the freezing conditions and being like that towards them, in fact I’d be ashamed to do that.

Please just know that for those of us with certain medical conditions, on certain medications or trapped in properties that are designed to keep heat in as much as possible, the relentless heat is like hell on earth. It’s actually incredibly depressing for some of us and makes getting out of a bed a challenge.

Some compassion and empathy wouldn’t go amiss. Or if you don’t want to offer that, which you absolutely shouldn’t feel obliged to, then maybe refraining from the snide comments as it honestly almost feels like you’re trying to rub it in.

RampantIvy · 28/06/2025 13:44

Believe me it does happen. When you are sat there in a house you can't afford to heat "Just put on another jumper" just doesn't cut it.

There is an awful lot of moral superiority from posters who find an indoor temperature of 13 degrees is plenty warm enough.

These posters don't get that when you WFH and are so cold that you can't operate a keyboard there must be something wrong with you.

CastelDweller · 28/06/2025 15:35

@RampantIvy well thats a nasty way to behave as well then. Believe it or not some of us actually suffer in both hot AND cold conditions, I think it’s when either of them become extreme. I hate the cold too and cant function in it so I have a lot of empathy for anyone who hates winter. I’d never be able to live with myself if I went on to a winter version of this thread and made sarcastic goady comments to people.
