Hot weather.

Anyone else just want this hot weather to fuck right off? I've had enough of it already and apparently we're in for at least another 2 weeks of it. 🤬 I'm made out to be a killjoy when I say I'm not enjoying it. Does everyone else really love it,or are they just saying it for fear of being thought odd (like me!).

It's going to cool down significantly tomorrow.

Only by around 3 degrees here. Still about two degrees too hot for me (24 is my UK max for comfort). It didn’t go below 20C overnight. Which is too hot.

Mymanyellow · 22/06/2025 06:34

Just had some thunder and a bit of rain here. Only about ten minutes might cool down a bit. Southeast not too far from the coast.

If someone has dementia or Alzheimer's they should have someone else looking out for them. Presumably they are just as vulnerable in the middle of winter?

Get over yourself.

Early stages of dementia, no you wouldn't have someone caring for you as you are in the early stages so it's not obvious yet.

Mokel · 22/06/2025 07:06

One thing with hot weather is that shoplifters still wear thick dark grey, black or navy hoodies with trackie bottoms in the above colours. As shorts n t-shirt limits how much they can stuff under their clothing.

I said looking out for, I didn't mean they had carers or were in care. My late DM had early stage dementia and was quite capable of dealing with hot or cold weather.

I'm a healthy weight but I have always found hot weather difficult to cope with all my life - some of us are just a bit more sensitive to it, regardless of our weight.

Same. I’ve never been overweight and have been having heat-related fainting spells as far back as year 2.

Took twenty- something years before I found out the cause was the heat causing my blood pressure to plummet. I have healthy blood pressure but on the lower end. I run warm naturally so struggle with heat especially if I’m also moving in it. Even worse when I was pregnant, have two October babies.

It’s a pain when we go on holiday with DH’s family because they always choose beach holidays in the summer time and I can’t stay home because DH couldn’t take the boys on his own (one is sen). I spend the holiday getting up early and taking a kid out and then coming straight back before it gets too hot and stay in the ac with the shutters down and then out when it is sunset. I don’t travel in the summer on my own accord.

RampantIvy · 22/06/2025 17:56

Why do you go on holiday with your inlaws then @phoenixrosehere?

Just say no, and do your own thing.

JenniferBooth · 22/06/2025 17:59

Yeah @phoenixrosehere when do YOU get to choose a holiday to suit your disposition.

They wouldnt do that to me cos the heat gives me the shits and im sure they wouldnt want that everywhere

It’s DH’s parents and his sister’s family who live about 5 hours away and his brother’s family who live in Canada so 8 adults and 6 children. It’s one of the only times that all our kids see and spend time with their cousins/ our niece and nephews and I don’t want the kids to miss out and all the kids get on well.

I make the best of it for them and it isn’t every year.

I go on solo holidays in October when it is cool, inexpensive, and kids are in school. 🙂

Very relieved it's a cooler day today I feel much more myself and actually have some energy.
knees and ankles still like footballs though thanks to Cerebral Palsy.
The humidity drains the life out of me, as well as my sleep and appetite.
All I really fancy to eat is Yogurt, Granola and fruit. Chocolate melts on contact so I guess that's a positive
Got 2 loads out earlier, back in my wardrobe and bed remade
Ive been using a jade roller which I've put in the freezer which is bliss, especially on sore feet

Ihateslugs · 22/06/2025 20:53

Well, I’m really disappointed at our weather right now! Here in the NW ( near Manchester) we have only had a few days of very hot weather although the forecast was for it to continue into next week. Woke up today to grey skies, several degrees cooler, some rain and the forecast has now changed to temps of 20° to 22° for several days!

I knew I should not have ordered a new Shark fan - tempting fate! It’s now pouring down so at least no need to water my numerous pots!

Well if they can't then surely their family should be looking out for them. Someone who can't cope needs support. If they don't know how to deal with hot weather then there will be plenty of other things they aren't coping with.

Exactly, but during early dementia it's difficult to know the signs of dementia, people don't think there's anything wrong it slowly creeps up on you which is why noone realises they need support. The lack of awareness is truly astounding.

I take it all back! We had one day of the blistering heat the rest of you have been living through (Friday, 24°) and I was grumpy af by the end of the day! But then it rained and cooled down to 20ish again. The radio said seasonal average but its warmer than we're used to here, but in a nice way

24 is a totally normal temperature for the British summer. Many people heat their houses to 20 or so all winter.

Were you forced to have window restrictors so you couldnt open the windows properly? Our fridge freezer cant cope and often stops working. Its fine in the winter but no doubt i will get an attempt at gaslighting regarding that. Food that is not supossed to be stored in the fridge doesnt keep. No shower only a bath so i have to fill it with water more than once a day every time i want to cool down. Its always a good 4 to 5 degrees warmer in here than it is outside Its fucking unbearable

IsawwhatIsaw · 24/06/2025 19:17

I’m south east, prediction is 30/31 this weekend. Gets too hot to sleep properly even with fans
