Hot weather.

Anyone else just want this hot weather to fuck right off? I've had enough of it already and apparently we're in for at least another 2 weeks of it. 🤬 I'm made out to be a killjoy when I say I'm not enjoying it. Does everyone else really love it,or are they just saying it for fear of being thought odd (like me!).

This is literally about the fifth nice day we’ve had where I am. I put up with cold, damp weather for the majority of the year so why can’t others put up with this?

Hot or cold, it's manageable

It's such a relief to escape the GREY, drizzle, wet damp and constant rain, That is what make people miserable, sick, houses full of mould and it's a nightmare.
Weather related depression is a thing!

👏🏼

Marshtit · 19/06/2025 18:55

i just read it is cooling right down on sunday!

Marshtit · 19/06/2025 18:56

it is lovely if you are near the sea with the sea breeze
it is very hard for dogs
very hard at work
very hard to sleep

Marshtit · 19/06/2025 18:57

and sometimes i have driven to the beach to find no sea breeze, which is horrible. only way is to get in the sea, if you keep your mouth closed!

xSideshowAuntSallyXx · 19/06/2025 19:02

I love hot weather, could do with being by a pool or the sea but we get so little of it and such long shit weather it's nice.

It's actually giving me a little bit of a boost. My garden smells lovely as my lavender and roses are blooming, one of the cats is having fun chasing bees and butterflies. Life always seems much better with a bit of sun and hot weather.

Sleeping is the only issue but that's because I live in a ground floor flat so can't have the windows wide open and I don't have air con (may invest in some).

Mokel · 19/06/2025 20:12

Anyone thinking about going to a beach this weekend. Don’t be surprised that you can’t find anywhere to park, it will be hell on Earth with queues and crowds.

Difficulty parking isn’t ‘hell on earth’. Try a bit of positivity. I lived on the West Wales coast for almost 20 years and now live on the south Wales coast. It’s busy. It’s not ‘hell on earth’.

How would you feel if I posted with such excitement that temps were going over 25? Have some empathy for people whose mood and physical health are improved by higher temps and sunshine.

Yep, I’ve already begun to Google when the internet believes it might break.
I’m a TA, the classroom is boiling, lunchtime out in the playground is scorchio.
Trying to sleep at night is horrendous. I’m all sticky. Yep, I’m over it 🙈🙈

An exclamation mark indictates you are exclaiming. That suggests excitement.

Goingawayistricky · 19/06/2025 21:52

My experience is that most work places including schools are very accommodating to hot weather ; drink lots, sun cream reminders, don’t get burnt etc, work outside in the shade.

In the winter it’s just suck it up . Take off your coats in freezing classrooms, out to break in the cold etc. No one gives a shit it’s always “put more clothes on” even though you can’t fit more socks in your boots or work in gloves.

Ever wonder why supermarkets’ chillers and freezer cabinets fail to work in the UK in hot weather? Yet don’t have an issue in Spain and other hot countries’ supermarkets.

Its a combination of buildings are designed to retain heat, our high humidity. Plus if have doors, it regulates temperature better.

Then can be a combination of ramming much stock in as possible- that blocks air circulation. Supermarkets do this more as less staff. Plus not maintaining the chillers and freezers

Why do people in the UK always bang on about their high humidity? It's no more humid than my country, and people rarely mention it here. Take a look at the levels in some other parts of the world, you really have nothing to complain about.

Thatsnotmynamee · 19/06/2025 22:25

I feel like such a (hot) wet lettuce moaning about the heat - I love it when it's low twenties, love it when you don't need a coat, can take kids to the splash park, be out on a warm evening, all that... but right now it's quite miserable! I'm lugging a hot toddler around, keeping him out of the sun and doing the school run in what feels like the heat of the bloody day and it's wearing. Just makes me even more sluggish and lazy than usual as well. Oh, and I'm a redhead. WISH we lived near the sea, that'd be amazing

Thatsnotmynamee · 19/06/2025 22:43

Oh, and also - can't bloody sleep!

It's fantastic to have warm weather at last after last years endless rain and the dark cold winter.

Looks like it will be great for the next 2 weeks. Let's hope a bbq summer is on the way.

I like warm weather as well. But it's not warm at the moment, it's intense heat that can kill the elderly and vulnerable.

And maybe have empathy for the people who suffer and effects their health in the heat. Yes it works both ways

I love the light mornings, happy birds, blue skys, the fresh evenings sitting out until 9-10pm it’s just lovely. My clean floors as I have lots of dogs!

The midday heat in a beer garden with a glass of wine or Pimm’s what’s not to love? To the people that hate it buy aircon and stay in the shade do you still hate it if you stay cooler?

Great, what about the elderly who are more vulnerable who carnt afford Aircon? Oh but you have your Pimm's everything's fine 🙄 some people just don't live in reality.

no need to be a bitch about it I’m replying to the OP who specifically made the post about herself and her views not about the vulnerable in society.

We got told off for wearing T-shirts under our shirts in the winter.

Mobile classrooms are the worst! Greenhouses in hot weather and in winter, ice boxes. They are those things where schools said they were going to have them for 5 years and they are there for 40!

My old primary school finally got rid of their mobile classrooms ten years ago (been there since 1968) . Then my high school about 7 years ago. The school used to be on two sites so 4 subjects were done in mobile classrooms - I was part of the last intake of schools being on both sites. This was 1993. Friend’s DD was the last intake of the mobile classrooms in 2015

My hay fever has been bad this year. Wet winter, warm spring, warmer (so far) summer.

So leaves, flowers etc are bigger than usual
