Hot weather.

Anyone else just want this hot weather to fuck right off? I've had enough of it already and apparently we're in for at least another 2 weeks of it. 🤬 I'm made out to be a killjoy when I say I'm not enjoying it. Does everyone else really love it,or are they just saying it for fear of being thought odd (like me!).

Honestly what a load of whingers. Just enjoy the sunshine and dry weather. We are in the gloom of rain and cold long enough.

Agree with this. ^

I wonder if any of the moany whingers on here are featured HERE! 😂

It’s warm and beautiful! Bright blue skies and bees humming. I have a festival this weekend and for once it won’t be wet or cold! I live for summers like this 🌴

DJSteves · 19/06/2025 07:35

@Fitasafiddle1festivals in the glorious sunshine cannot be beaten

WhatNoRaisins · 19/06/2025 07:36

I'm going to wash and line dry everything in the house as that's the one thing I do like about hot weather.

Aquarius1234 · 19/06/2025 08:27

Woke up too early! Black out blinds are rubbish..

Housemouse245 · 19/06/2025 09:01

@OntheBorder1 because our house is glass and south facing and the aircon cannot keep up with the greenhouse effect. It’s a new build that is very well insulated and the slate floor that runs through the entire house absorbs the heat all day so as soon as you shut the windows and doors at night it radiates out as though the heating is on. It’s a lovely temperature during winter, spring and autumn but summer is unbearable. I didn’t hate summer until I moved into this house. Last summer was lovely but everyone else was moaning it was too cold 😂

Tessiebear2023 · 19/06/2025 09:18

OntheBorder1 · 18/06/2025 22:11

How can it possibly be hotter inside your house than outside with air con running?

Not sure, but counterintuitively, it could be lack of insulation? Also picture windows are terrible for creating greenhouse effect.

Edited

I have floor to ceiling windows and ranch sliders on the sunny side of my flat - the air con copes just fine.

Still only 19 here with a sea breeze. It's going to be 27 tomorrow and Saturday that's pretty much unknown for the NE England coast
I'm well excited

Ihateslugs · 19/06/2025 15:46

I love hot days now I no longer work in a greenhouse aka school! That was punishing but now I can sit in my cool bedroom which is N facing and read quietly.

I go out to water my pots around 8 pm when the sun is off the patio and it’s lovely to sit outside for a while. My lounge fan is broken so I’ve just ordered a new Shark FlexBreeze ( thanks to my nephews very generous staff discount) which can be used outside with a cooling water mist! I’m going to try that when it arrives tomorrow.

But living in the NW it’s not as hot as places in the SE so it’s great to have some heat for a change from rain and wind.

Unfortunately I live on a building site at the moment as both houses on each side of me are undergoing major renovation work and one is still digging through to Australia for new piling for a loft extension and the other is relaying the drive. The work has been going on for months and the noise is driving me mad but I’m determined to get my seat cushions out this afternoon. I’ll just put headphones on, listen to an audio book and crochet! Bliss!

greengreyblue · 19/06/2025 16:05

Yes schools are the worst!

ToutesetBonne · 19/06/2025 16:19

32 here. Hideous.

Mymanyellow · 19/06/2025 16:22

28 here. But not a breath of air. Really struggling today. Only glad I’m not at work, I can sit about in my knickers.

Ever wonder why supermarkets’ chillers and freezer cabinets fail to work in the UK in hot weather? Yet don’t have an issue in Spain and other hot countries’ supermarkets.

Its a combination of buildings are designed to retain heat, our high humidity. Plus if have doors, it regulates temperature better.

Then can be a combination of ramming much stock in as possible- that blocks air circulation. Supermarkets do this more as less staff. Plus not maintaining the chillers and freezers

Mokel · 19/06/2025 16:39

Weather is cooling down earlier than planned. Earlier this week, forecasts said hot weather to be here rest of the month. It’s going to be 22-24c in the midlands from Sunday

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 19/06/2025 16:45

I used to enjoy it but now I’m in peri it just sucks all the energy out of me.

Chocolatetherapy · 19/06/2025 17:08

MsNevermore · 17/06/2025 17:53

I hated it when I still lived in the UK.
A heat wave in England just feels claggy and sticky and gross. Always feels hotter than it actually is because of the building designed to insulate heat.
I live in an actual desert now, and while it gets hotter than the surface of the sun (currently 35.5°C at 9:51am with the high set to be 41.1°C by midday), it’s a dry heat. We only average around 10% humidity this time of year, so it’s not that sweaty, sticky type of heat that happens in the U.K.
And we have air conditioning in our homes 🫠🫠🫠 not just an electric fan pushing the hot air around like I had in the U.K.

Hotter than the surface of the sun??

Hotter than the surface of the sun??

Feels that way 🫠😂
Was a solid 42°C yesterday, which takes the pavement temperature up about 62°C, and asphalt on the roads to about 65°C.
Last summer people were baking cookies on their driveways to show how insanely hot it gets here 😂😂

Wow that's some temperature! Glad its only 28 here 😁

cardibach · 19/06/2025 18:16

I don’t get this idea that houses are ‘designed to retain heat’. It’s nonsense. They are insulated. That means they retain the internal temp, keeping it warmer when outside is cold, but equally cooler when outside is hot. It’s like a thermos flask. It doesn’t care if the internal temp is high or low, it just retains it.

cardibach · 19/06/2025 18:18

RampantIvy · 19/06/2025 17:38

Yes. Here's our weather for the next week.

Well whoop-de-do for people who love it cool, which they already get 9 months of the year. Everyone else can clearly go fuck themselves with their need for heat
