To ask for breakfast suggestions without eggs or avocado

I’m stuck in a rut of eating high sugar foods/snacks and need to kick this. I find if I start the day with something lower sugar it’s easier to avoid getting into that loop. However it is so hard to find breakfast suggestions that are low sugar (and ideally high in protein) without it involving eggs and/or avocado. Oh or overnight oats. What do you have?

Watching this with interest because it is the same for me. Either eggs, mushroom and spinach, or granola, fruit and yoghurt here.

In theory you can eat anything you want for breakfast, but it needs to be quick for me.

Really stuffed for high protein, savoury alternatives.

Why not cut out breakfast altogether? Fasting for a bit each day helps control blood sugar.

something2say · 11/06/2025 15:08

Hi. This is what I have.

Firstly I fast from dinner the night begins until 12 noon. Then I pour 1cm of porridge into a bowl and moisten it with water, not milk. Then I slice a banana on top and put in some berries. Then 3 dessert spoons of Greek yogurt and a handful of nuts.

Good for low blood sugar, fibre and nutrients. I developed a hemorrhoid and it was horrible and it has completely gone now. I am flat stomached and slim at 50.i swear it is down to the porridge.

EggnogNoggin · 11/06/2025 15:08

Night before, sorry.

Soukmyfalafel · 11/06/2025 15:09

I do sometimes microwave some edamame beans too. They are pretty filling with some veg.

Sparrow7 · 11/06/2025 15:09

This morning I had a packet of hulahoops. I guess that was low sugar.

HelenHywater · 11/06/2025 15:10

Greek yoghurt (full fat) with berries
Smoked salmon and asparagus (I have this most days!) (with optional berries afterwards).

PositiveLife · 11/06/2025 15:12

I have fat free greek yogurt with berries and recently started chucking a few bits of granola on for texture.

I used to follow the paleo diet and, when I was fed up of eggs, I'd usually make extra of my evening meal and have that for breakfast. Felt weird at first but soon got used to it.

purplecorkheart · 11/06/2025 15:15

I tend to skip breakfast but if I do have it I have bagel thins with low fat cream chesse, smoked salmon and capers.
Bagels thin with scrambled egg and bacon/chicken bacon.
Or some kind of toasted sandwich using up leftover chicken etc.

poetryandwine · 11/06/2025 15:15

Smoked salmon with lemon juice and pepper on buttered toast.

Various nut butters on toast, plain or with banana or apple slices.

Cheese on toast, plain or over tomato, stuck under the grill for a couple of minutes.

Hummus on toast

Maybe with a piece of fruit and defo with coffee

olivehater · 11/06/2025 15:16

Currently like making a sort of instant home made jam with frozen raspberries heat up in the microwave and a spoon full of chia seeds thrown in it. Lots of fibre and not too much sugar. Add to Greek yoghurt and berries.

Do you mean porridge or oats? Do you make porridge first then add everything?

NeverDropYourMooncup · 11/06/2025 15:21

Bacon roll.

Sausage sandwich.

Cheese and onion pasty or hot steak and kidney pie.

Cured meats, cheese and grapes/olives/watermelon/ cucumber

Hummus on toast

Spicy salmon or prawns with rice, tomatoes and cucumber

Greek yoghurt, walnuts or brazils, dates, some granola on top for crunch

All higher protein and would keep you from craving biscuits 90 minutes later.

MayaPinion · 11/06/2025 15:21

Any food can be breakfast food - a ham or chicken sandwich, beans on toast or caprese salad are all a good start to the day.

Girasoli · 11/06/2025 15:25

Beans on toast
Cream cheese and tomato or smoked salmon bagel
Peanut butter toast with slices of apple
Leftovers from dinner
