To ask for breakfast suggestions without eggs or avocado

I’m stuck in a rut of eating high sugar foods/snacks and need to kick this. I find if I start the day with something lower sugar it’s easier to avoid getting into that loop. However it is so hard to find breakfast suggestions that are low sugar (and ideally high in protein) without it involving eggs and/or avocado. Oh or overnight oats. What do you have?

Toasted English muffin with tomato puree and cheese on it then put under grill to melt.
Homemade pancakes (with fresh fruit) and lemon or peanut butter/almond butter
Low sugar granola with Greek yoghurt (and sometimes fresh fruit too).
Toast/bread/crumpet/toasted pitta bread/ English muffin/bagel with peanut butter/almond butter/butter/marmite.
Porridge (sometimes with fresh fruit in and/or peanut butter/almond butter).

Bircher muesli is supposed to be all you need. Delicious with more fruit

MadKittenWoman · 11/06/2025 18:11

Greek yoghurt with berries.

okydokethen · 11/06/2025 18:15

I like kefir yoghurt, with blueberries, pomegranate, seed mix and peanut granola.

Hi. This is what I have.

Firstly I fast from dinner the night begins until 12 noon. Then I pour 1cm of porridge into a bowl and moisten it with water, not milk. Then I slice a banana on top and put in some berries. Then 3 dessert spoons of Greek yogurt and a handful of nuts.

Good for low blood sugar, fibre and nutrients. I developed a hemorrhoid and it was horrible and it has completely gone now. I am flat stomached and slim at 50.i swear it is down to the porridge.

Sorry, but porridge does not cure haemorrhoids. Not even if you slather it on your arse.

We stayed at a little B&B in Fuerventura many years ago. Breakfast was a mild sliced cheese, ham and fruit. I became quite addicted to it.

kiwiblue · 11/06/2025 18:24

Porridge made with almond milk

proximalhumerous · 11/06/2025 18:29

For the love of omelettes, please can no-one else suggest eggs! Or fecking Coco Pops. 🙄

Bagel with smoked salmon and cream cheese

I have protein bagels, cottage cheese and smoked salmon quite often

I have muesli with plain yogurt. I find granola too sweet and I hate porridge. It’s very difficult to find muesli that doesn’t have dried bananas or dried raspberries, both of which are the work of the devil.

Why not make your own muesli? Then you control the ingredients and the quality. Works out a bit cheaper too.

Protein yoghurt with fruit ( strawberries, raspberries, kiwi, blueberries, satsuma) and chia/ pumpkin seeds.
Rye bread and mushrooms/ tomatoes fried in low cal spray.
Seeded protein bagel with scrambled eggs.
Boiled eggs and soldiers.
Thanks, I'm hungry now🤣

Oops. Missed the egg part!

PullTheBricksDown · 11/06/2025 18:38

Turkey rashers (the bacon style ones) on a protein bagel

somewhereintheworld · 11/06/2025 19:00

This is what I have - porridge, Greek yoghurt, raspberries, blueberries, strawberries, nuts, dates, chia seeds and honey.

mindutopia · 11/06/2025 19:03

A few mornings a week I have a kvarg (high protein yoghurt) with fruit and almonds. I often have it with blueberries but it could be blueberries, cantaloupe and almonds or blueberries, banana and almonds. It’s very filling. Often on offer 4 for £3. So have it 4 mornings a week usually.

PaintedFeet · 11/06/2025 19:27

I was in a big hotel in Malaysia a couple of years ago

There was a huge breakfast buffet

All the usual rice, noodles, eggs, chicken sausage, soup, fresh fruit

The biggest surprise was bread & butter pudding with custard !!! Delicious any time of the day !

PaintedFeet · 11/06/2025 19:29

I also like

Cold tinned rice pudding

Hot tinned rice pudding in the winter

Add jam, fruit, nuts, spices

To be absolutely honest, because I’m too lazy. There is one Sainsbury’s muesli that meets all my requirements and I stock up whenever I get the chance. The nearest Sainsburys is a half hour drive from us.

It has been an interesting study in how many people don’t read things properly 🤣 and I do love a bowl of coco pops but not sure they fit the low sugar goal

I go to work and don’t have time for breakfast in the morning. I have to leave for work at about 7:30 am and having breakfast would mean getting up stupidly early. I also have no wish to eat at such a ridiculously early hour. It’s a nice mug of tea (no sugar) then off to work. It suits me fine, no breakfast means no calories and no blood sugar spike. And the “breakfast is the most important meal of the day” claim is complete and utter bullshit.

See I can happily do this but then I inevitably grab a chocolate bar around 10am and start the sugar cycle anyway. Hoping a decent breakfast will stop me reaching for sugary snacks.

I went for lidl popcorn cereal bars instead of chocolate bar to ease myself off chocolate bars. Also the mini fruit filled shredded wheat makes a nice snack dry and are quite sweet

PizzaSophiaLoren · 11/06/2025 21:04

High protein Greek yoghurt, berries, oats, honey, chia seeds.

Trekkerbabe · 11/06/2025 22:09

Low fat greek yog with Joe Wicks granola and berries.

Saag paneer with two boiled eggs and sometimes a warmed tortilla.

Joe Wicks bean chilli with spoonful of yog.

Egg and egg white omelette with smoked salmon, lemon and pepper,.salad leaves and a bagel.

Some of these are carb loaded for post workout. Some are reduced carb. Either way they are all delicious. I am a savoury not sweet person and have never liked the British sweet-laden breakfasts we were brought up on .

Trekkerbabe · 11/06/2025 22:10

If uou need a snack then have a small apple with peanut butter. It's really good and stops the sugar cravings.
