Costa coffee use instant coffee to make there iced coffee drinks

surely at £4 a pop they should be coffee grounds or beans used to make an iced coffee?

Gosh I didn’t know that I get a frappe now an again and clearly don’t pay attention. I thought it was a coffee syrup rather than a shot.

I work for Costa and it’s definitely the same coffee as what goes into any other coffee and isn’t instant

They brew it then put it with ice to cool... That's what my local does at least

It's just a shot of espresso (sometimes two) and then the other bits like milk/milk alternative, syrup etc and ice. I have watched them make it.

even if it was true, so what? no one's pointing a gun to your head and making you buy it ...

Not true of my local costas (I go between three) - they use the espresso coffee from the machine and then add ice and cold milk.

the woman showed me this morning as I asked for decaf - said they use instant and thats why she couldn't do decaf? It was a tub of instant coffee

They deffo use instant in the 'whipped' coffee.
All the other iced ones it's espresso shots

Decaf iced latte is my go-to drink. It sounds like they've run out of beans and are using instant in a pinch maybe? I've watched them make mine before (and I always ask everywhere I go if the decaf is instant or not as so many places do instant decaf) and I've seen them properly brew it for me.

Decaf comes in little pods and isnt in the machine like the other beans but it still isn’t instant coffee it’s still filtered the same way as the beans are just kept separately

Its getting that way - but especially if its instant and I can do the same at home.

we saw a TikTok last summer how to make iced coffee and it taste bland great at home - using decaf instant!

I had something else! as I wanted decaf and they said the instant only comes in caffeinated - thus them explaining to me - they were really lovely

I think the slushy, frappe style drinks are made with syrups and instant mixes. The iced coffees are a shot of espresso, milk and ice.

You know the whipped cream? It isn’t.
