surely at £4 a pop they should be coffee grounds or beans used to make an iced coffee?

what is the world coming to light hearted

They definitely use instant in the frappes now. I noticed the other day, used to be shots for. The machine but not any more.
Haven't tried an iced coffee recently but seems there still with shots.

that maybe what I pointed to - with lavender and vanilla

I had a lavender ice coffee last week and watched them make it with the normal coffee from the machine. Definitely not instant.

Because i am tight i think YABU to pay £4 for a coffee but each to your own.

I am not tight, but I am not paying those prices, for a bit of coffee. I am the privileged owner of a flask!😄

nosyupnorth · 11/06/2025 15:40

the lavender and vanilla drink is a whipped coffee, which should be made with instant, that's how you get that consistency. if you want something that uses grounds/beans, order something that is made that way.

Mine too

Mine too.

If it tastes nice, and you enjoy it, then who really cares?

MintChocCat · 11/06/2025 15:43

You know the whipped cream? It isn’t.

What is it? (Curious)

PosiePetal · 11/06/2025 15:18

Was it branded?

Had costa written on the outside and instant coffee granules inside

Perhaps it cheaper to make it that way and some stores are doing this to cut costs?

I work for Costa and it’s definitely the same coffee as what goes into any other coffee and isn’t instant

I often wonder these types of posts are commercial sabotage ?

why else would you care ?

Persephoknee · 11/06/2025 16:02

I’ve watched them loads of time make it with Espresso. Never ever seen instant in Costa!

Squirty cream which probably contains no actual cream

GoBackToTheStart · 11/06/2025 16:20

This one? It’s basically just a dalgona coffee isn’t it? They went viral online over lockdown on social media. You whip instant coffee, sugar, and a tiny amount of water (just enough to dissolve the solids and no more…hence using instant and not brewed) to get that fluffy consistency, then you spoon the coffee mix onto the milk. It’s impossible to make it in another way because brewed coffee has far too much water and doesn’t whip the way it needs to for the drink.

Nowhere near as bad as Tarbucks though!

greengreyblue · 11/06/2025 16:22

DD worked there a few years ago and said it’s proper coffee that is cooled with ice.

Costa is far superior to Starbucks. Can’t even taste the coffee in theirs

What's it like? Trying to decide whether it's worth trying or not....

I love lavender flavoured things but I won't bother again. It didn't really taste of lavender.

Pumpkinpip · 11/06/2025 16:33

I worked at Costa as a student and they definitely used the same coffee from the machine for all their drinks. That was a few years ago now but not sure why they would’ve changed it.

The whipped drinks they use instant. The lack of oils make it so it can be whipped and build like a foam
