To ban wind chimes

My neighbours bought pan pipey wind chimes earlier this year and on this windy day, sitting in my house with the window open I can hear that they have now bought us all (the neighbours) the more conventional wind-f'ing-chimes. It frustrates me because it is constant (unlike a noisy party). Do they think that we can't hear or that we all love the toot-te-toot?

Maybe he plays the radio to drown out the noise of the wind chimes

Nah, his radio playing started first.

I like windchimes but do confine then to the end of the garden so as not to offend the neighbours. I do think they sound infinitely nicer than the drip drip drip torture of my neighbours cracked guttering and the nearby M6

@IdiottoGoathats fine that you like it. But it’s loud enough for folk that don’t like it to hear. I knew someone whose husband had to watch The Simpsons to get to sleep. He liked it, found it relaxing. Doesn’t mean it’s reasonable to broadcast it to neighbours from your backgarden throughout the night every night

For the record, a) we don’t have any and b) our house isn’t close enough to be affecting anyone else if we did.

I just don’t get the hate that I see on here that you don’t see annywhere except mumsnet. It’s really disproportionate. But then I don’t get the hate for dogs, cats, shoes on or off, toilet brushes, when people shower, where you hang your washing, vegans, people with food intolerances, people who try to be kind or any of the other myriad of things people get arsey about.

Maybe MN could play some wind chimes in the background to chill everyone out a bit?

I don't understand why anyone would want a wind chime. Annoying things!!

I know, just why?????
What's the point of them!

Mumsnetters just like banning things. While their husbands swan off on their mysterious hobby which is too outing to name, mumsnetters have a hobby of thinking of things to ban. Ban this, this that. Dogs, cats, saying grace, shoes, cars, etc.

😂

My dh was the one who wanted wind chimes, they're the very low tone wooden ones and I can’t hear them if I’m more than a few metres away.
Fortunately the nearest house is a 2nd home so the owners aren’t around much.
The only noises that disturb me at night are scuttling noises in the loft and mosquitoes buzzing about.

I’ve put up wind chimes to annoy my neighbours.
