I have made an utterly life changing discovery!!!!

So I’ve had false eyelashes applied at the beauty salon for years.
I love them, they open up my little eyes so much, and hide my drooping upper eye lids.
However, I’ve always struggled when trying to wash my hair in the shower, if they get wet they don’t last as long.
I’ve searched for a solution for SO LONG, tried the stick on plastic visors, tried to wash my hair over the sink, nothing has ever worked.
Then yesterday I had a brainwave, and bought a kid’s adjustable shower visor.
Had a shower earlier to test it out…OMG!
It worked! Not a drop of water on my face!!!
I understand this will only be of interest to those of you that have fake lashes, but I just HAD to share!!!
AIBU to say this will change my life?!?!?

Genius Grin

Might I add wearing swimming goggles whilst cutting onions to the list of life-changing ‘hacks’! I’ve always been really sensitive to onions (my eyes start burning and streaming after the first chop!) but never had a problem since I decided to try using goggles 🥽

I just throw them in the food processor. Boom 💥

MixedBananas · 17/05/2025 18:10

I find they make smaller eyes looked tiny and not flattering and look eo obviously fake and unnatural. They lock rather clown like.
Please tell me you wash your face properly at least twice a day though? 🙄

None of your business surely?
Although I have to really, just to remove all the white paint and red lipstick.

@KarCat Actually no it’s not only of interest to lash wearers only! Thanks for sharing as I’ve started getting unexplainable facial eczema outbreaks over my face and eyelids 😭 despite being 52 and never experiencing this previously. So during showers, my face and eye area sometimes stings horribly and really ruined enjoying showers so this sounds like maybe something I could try to minimise the water and shampoo chemicals run off onto my face maybe.,,.

Edited

Excellent!
Ive put the Amazon link earlier in the thread, it was only about £7!

To those of you who think there’s nothing wrong with being shallow , really ?

I live life large as you put it lol been busy doing just that 😂 love lashes hair make up and glam . I don’t however think that’s all there is to life ! If you do then good for you 🤷🏻‍♀️

There is nothing quite so endearing as a woman being condescending to other women is there?
Especially when you absolutely fuck all about anyone’s life.

I wear them but don’t see how it would change a persons life ? Bit shallow

Do you take all lighthearted comments quite so intensely literally as this? Or are you making this one your special exception?

ohyesido · 17/05/2025 19:30

This was not the revelation I hoped for

Would you like a refund?

Christ’s balls, there’s some miserable sneery gits on this site.

If you say so. The title suggests something a little more insightful than lashes, which not everyone is excited by

If you read the thread, there are mums that are very excited about a product they didn’t know existed, that will now make bath time with their kids so much easier.
The post wasn’t actually meant to be insightful, it was meant to convey my happiness at finally finding a solution to a decade long problem I had.
You could always post your own insightful thread if you like?

Brilliant! Where would you recommend I find a kids shower visor xx Thanks

Think the OP gave an Amazon link earlier in the thread

Don’t have false eyelashes! Seen them on a lot of people and think - wOW. Good for you on finding a get around.. not sure why people are being so mean.. I would take this knowledge and keep in my back pockets should I ever need it! Any of you girls have any hacks to preserve hair colour! I already have the correct shampoo/conditioner etc. op, to hijack your thread OP!

I also dye my hair, never found a method to keep the colour longer!
I do use one of the colour retouch sprays for my roots between colours, my hair is all one colour though so don’t know if that would work for you?

"I love them, they open up my little eyes so much, and hide my drooping upper eye lids"

Sorry but they don't. They're simply not capable of it at best they give you the confidence to distract from your perceived flaws & as for the original post = colder water will stop them from falling off due to the lack of steam/sweat/humidity regardless of wether you were a kids viser which I'm assuming just fits better because of your head size

Omg you are hilarious!!
Why are you commenting on my appearance when you literally have NO IDEA what I look like ?!!!
And I don’t think my appearance is flawed in any way, I’m just realistic about my aging face…which is still beautiful to me!
You gotta love the internet though 😂

I have fake lashes applied on occasion and just wear swimming goggles in the shower when I need to wash my hair - I thought everyone did?!

<<opens thread wishing to find some really fabulous new finding >>
<<closes thread wishing OP would have mentioned eye lashes in the title!!!>>

Same re your first sentence!
But I was intrigued and read on.
i have read the thread with interest as have droopy eyelids and thought the only way to overcome them was by having a bleph. Which seems a bit drastic.
Am also now googling vegetable choppers!

So I’ve actually learnt a couple of things by not shutting down the thread after the first post.
Love a bit of Saturday night mumsnet.
