So I’ve had false eyelashes applied at the beauty salon for years.
I love them, they open up my little eyes so much, and hide my drooping upper eye lids.
However, I’ve always struggled when trying to wash my hair in the shower, if they get wet they don’t last as long.
I’ve searched for a solution for SO LONG, tried the stick on plastic visors, tried to wash my hair over the sink, nothing has ever worked.
Then yesterday I had a brainwave, and bought a kid’s adjustable shower visor.
Had a shower earlier to test it out…OMG!
It worked! Not a drop of water on my face!!!
I understand this will only be of interest to those of you that have fake lashes, but I just HAD to share!!!
AIBU to say this will change my life?!?!?

how will this change your life ? …

MaggieBsBoat · 16/05/2025 20:56

does it really make a difference to saggy upper lids? If so then I will get them done and buy a kids shower visor!!! Thanks!

Do you struggle with basic comprehension? Because the OP described it quite clearly.

I think op explained that very clearly

I have eyelash extensions and I don't have any issue with them not lasting of they get wet. Are you waiting 24 hours before you get them wet?

Yes, unfortunately I’m allergic to the stronger glue so I have to have them applied with the weaker stuff!

Genius Grin

Might I add wearing swimming goggles whilst cutting onions to the list of life-changing ‘hacks’! I’ve always been really sensitive to onions (my eyes start burning and streaming after the first chop!) but never had a problem since I decided to try using goggles 🥽

I don't even wear normal mascara, let alone fake eyelashes, but I am delighted for you! It's such a great feeling when you find the perfect solution to a niggling problem. Enjoy your dry face & long lasting lashes

Cherrysoup · 16/05/2025 21:13

I wonder if goggles, like the big ones tradesmen use, not swimming as presumably they’d be too close to the eye, would work? I quite fancy having them done, I really should find somewhere that does them

See I’ve even tried wearing goggles in the shower, but not all my hair is washed then (long hair)
I use a veg chopper for onions, done in a flash!

Can you literally not wash your face when you have the lashes on?

I have a veg chopper but hate using it for onions because of all the little bits that get left behind in the grid! I hate the garlic press for the same reason Envy

Problem with that is not all your hair is washed, because of the strap…whereas the kids shower visor allows me to wash all my hair.
Try a nail salon, most do eyelashes, they are called party lashes where I’m from.
Don’t go too big, I got size large the first time and looked like a drag queen 🤣

Your face but not your eyes…I use a flannel.

Never had false eyelashes although always thinking about it and am very happy for you OP! Love that you’re so pleased 😀

QueenAstrid · 16/05/2025 21:24

Well, I don’t have lash extensions but my eyelids are quite droopy so now I’m considering extensions too. Thanks OP!

Couldn’t you have just…left quietly? Confused

Sumthingsweet · 16/05/2025 21:26

I wear them but don’t see how it would change a persons life ? Bit shallow

PorkPieForStarters · 16/05/2025 21:30

My hair is long. When I wash it in the shower, I stand with my back to the shower so my hair is under the water. My face doesn't get wet unless I want it to. How are you standing??

Klozza · 16/05/2025 21:31

Do you use a lash cleanser? I’ve had lash done extensions for about 5 years and for the first 2 I avoided getting them wet at all until I found out you’re actually meant to wash them with a lash cleanser, this was a game changer. I clean them gently with it every 2-3 days as the oils on your eyelids actually make them come off easier. Mine now last 5 weeks between infills!

Sorry if you already knew this, I just know I didn’t for yeaaaaars

gerul · 16/05/2025 21:44

So you can never wash around your eyes? For the rest of your life? <mind blown and misses point of thread>
