So I’ve had false eyelashes applied at the beauty salon for years.
I love them, they open up my little eyes so much, and hide my drooping upper eye lids.
However, I’ve always struggled when trying to wash my hair in the shower, if they get wet they don’t last as long.
I’ve searched for a solution for SO LONG, tried the stick on plastic visors, tried to wash my hair over the sink, nothing has ever worked.
Then yesterday I had a brainwave, and bought a kid’s adjustable shower visor.
Had a shower earlier to test it out…OMG!
It worked! Not a drop of water on my face!!!
I understand this will only be of interest to those of you that have fake lashes, but I just HAD to share!!!
AIBU to say this will change my life?!?!?

As I said in my post, I do understand this will only be of interest to those that wear false lashes…

Ignore them, honestly…

Peachy2005 · 16/05/2025 23:09

@WetBandits I have onion goggles but don’t need to use them anymore because I saw a tip where you put a well-wetted piece of paper towel beside the onion while chopping and it magically attracts all the onion juice droplets (or whatever makes the eyes water). It seems to work perfectly for me - I thought maybe everyone else knew this and I was late to the party 😁 Report back if you try it 🙏

spanishcheese · 16/05/2025 23:13

I had to Google a kids shower visor. WTAF?
How do you normally wash your face without getting your eyes wet, in or out of the shower?

Boriswentcamping · 16/05/2025 23:23

I don't have false I lashes but I do have great difficulty washing my daughters hair in the shower and I had no idea kids shower visors were a thing!

I'm so getting one now - thankyou 🙏

Scorchio84 · 16/05/2025 23:24

I've often wondered about this, not lashes, I'm alright there but with eyebrows, like I wear tan & I'm careful for the day it goes on.. but that's a genius idea, also ignore all the "why does it matter?" brigade..massive eyeroll

Boriswentcamping · 16/05/2025 23:27

Eyelashes 😅 I don't know what I lashes are.... Blush

how will this change your life ? …

Let me help you.

The OP found something that brought her joy and confidence. These are emotions we seek in life.
Then she discovered that something she needed to do (keeping clean by showering) affected that joy negatively.
She tried several solutions that didn't work.
Then she found one that did.
Joy restored.
In a fit of spontaneous happiness she dared to share the solution online in case others would find it either helpful or just generally upbeat. I don't wear false lashes so for me it was the latter.

Has this cleared up the confusion?

Scorchio84 · 16/05/2025 23:41

always someone @WinterFoxes right?

steff13 · 16/05/2025 23:42

Sumthingsweet · 16/05/2025 21:26

I wear them but don’t see how it would change a persons life ? Bit shallow

Mine make me like my face better. You could say anything that we do to make ourselves look better is shallow right?

steff13 · 16/05/2025 23:43

QueenAstrid · 16/05/2025 21:24

Well, I don’t have lash extensions but my eyelids are quite droopy so now I’m considering extensions too. Thanks OP!

I have really big eyes but very hooded lids and they open my eyes up so much. In fact my friend who told me about them the first time is Asian and so she doesn't have like a crease in her eyelid and they really make her eyes pop too.

Honestly I thought this may help people with false lashes, it makes me so happy that it may help parents that struggle to wash their kids hair…my DD is at university now so those struggles are behind me now, but I do remember bath times very well 😂

Genius Grin

Might I add wearing swimming goggles whilst cutting onions to the list of life-changing ‘hacks’! I’ve always been really sensitive to onions (my eyes start burning and streaming after the first chop!) but never had a problem since I decided to try using goggles 🥽

have you tried frozen chopped onions? They really are life changing

& you can just get normal ones cut up, like carrots to throw into the slow cooker, game changer, no waste, I usually ended up like a French trope with the amount of onions I used to have left over when all i wanted to make was a stew

Have you tried latisse? I used to do lash extensions but got fed up of the time it takes. Quite shocked how well latisse worked for me.

I had great results with Latisse but stopped using it when a friend experienced orbital fat loss under her eyes. Please be vigilant for signs of that.

I don't get extensions all the time, but when I do they stay pretty well as long as I don't get anything oily on them. I might try the shower visor, OP!

Scorchio84 · 17/05/2025 01:49

I think we all need visors & onion goggles, go raibh míle for the tips

A HUGE difference!!!

Brilliant! Where would you recommend I find a kids shower visor xx Thanks

leopardprint17 · 17/05/2025 08:28

You should clean your eyelashes regularly. After cleaning i brush through with a spoolie and hairdryer on cool heat and they look great again it's like washing ur hair 😄

Sumthingsweet · 17/05/2025 16:46

To those of you who think there’s nothing wrong with being shallow , really ?

I live life large as you put it lol been busy doing just that 😂 love lashes hair make up and glam . I don’t however think that’s all there is to life ! If you do then good for you 🤷🏻‍♀️

I really don't think there is a big difference.

MixedBananas · 17/05/2025 18:10

I find they make smaller eyes looked tiny and not flattering and look eo obviously fake and unnatural. They lock rather clown like.
Please tell me you wash your face properly at least twice a day though? 🙄

MoominMai · 17/05/2025 18:18

@KarCat Actually no it’s not only of interest to lash wearers only! Thanks for sharing as I’ve started getting unexplainable facial eczema outbreaks over my face and eyelids 😭 despite being 52 and never experiencing this previously. So during showers, my face and eye area sometimes stings horribly and really ruined enjoying showers so this sounds like maybe something I could try to minimise the water and shampoo chemicals run off onto my face maybe.,,.
