M&S changing rooms

SweetChilliGirl · 20/04/2025 10:43

Was I unreasonable to send this to M&S?

Good morning,

Having not shopped for lingerie with you for several years, due to your policy of allowing trans-identifying men into the women's changing rooms, can I now be assured that, in line with the judgement of the supreme court males will no longer be allowed to identify their way into your single sex changing rooms, thus preserving biological women's dignity and safety? I would very much like to be able to shop with you again.

I look forward to hearing from to to clarify this important matter.

Regards,

Sweetchilligirl

There are also reports of sexual assaults in a gender neutral toilet in a secondary school in Essex - no word of the name of the school, however.

ETA The Essex attacker is said to be a boy. The Harrison High attacker is described as 'trans' in news reports.

Edited

Apologies.

I confused two US cases. The attacker is described as 'trans' or 'the boy in a skirt' in the Loudon County cases. He's accused of sexual assaults in two high schools and rape at Stone Bridge High School.

Part of the reason for my getting mixed up is that the defence case for both alleged attackers is that sex was 'consensual'.

So - for clarification - in the US there have been three attacks by two separate people and only two of the attacks have been attributed to a trans identified male.

The aggression is rather tiresome, isn’t it?

Isn't it just 🙄. Tiresome is the word!!

Bloody hell. That's terrifying, I had no idea. Is that uk wide?

It is yes. And yes very worrying

StScholastica · 21/04/2025 20:54

Ours has a translady "manning" (so to speak) the changing rooms.😳.

The SC ruling doesn’t force M&S to have single sex changing rooms does it?

If I had an issue with a store’s policy on changing facilities I just would shop elsewhere.

It doesn’t no but we can expect that if it DOES have women’s only, we can expect not to see men in there. If they choose to go with unisex only, those of us with no desire to share a space with men can actively choose to avoid it

Do they declare it like when a women’s toilet has a male attendant cleaning?

No need. Most people have eyes in their head

Business put up the signs to be courteous to alert that men will be cleaning women’s toilets. It’s reasonable to ask of this is the case when a male attends a women’s changing room. It’s simply a question.

Didimum · 21/04/2025 20:29

Once again, please quote where I have defended the erosion of women’s rights, because that’s fictitious.

I have discussed scenarios of challenge between two opposing groups.

so will you say ANYTHING in support of the girls in this scenario because your posts are extremely one sided?

Yet another argument straight from the Trans Rights Activist playbook.

Yes there's normally a notice outside.

It is necessary to the discussion or do you simply want me to? Please do quote where they have been ‘one sided’ (meaning they are supportive of one side, I gather?). I would describe them as neutral.

Didshejustsaythatoutloud · 21/04/2025 20:30

Oh for goodness sake, it was a genuine question. Are you just looking for a fight, any fight? 🙄

no I'm asking how many women and girls is it acceptable to be assualted in women's single sex changing rooms before you put women and girls first?

It's a valid question?

Why won't you answer it?

I simply wondered because I haven’t encountered it before. Sheer curiosity.

I am not a trans rights activist.

Time will tell. An organisation the size of M&S is likely to be indirectly discriminating against women if it doesn't.

Men will have 2 options, women who can't be in spaces where men are present have none.

That's not equality.

The aggression of women arguing for rights that were always theirs.

That’s your opinion. It doesn’t bother me at all how you view me. I’ve asked you repeatedly to quote where I have supported men’s rights or trans rights – I can only assume you’re unable to locate one.

qandatime · 21/04/2025 21:14

Ddakji · 20/04/2025 11:19

In our local M&S there aren’t men’s and women’s - that’s the problem. The one in the lingerie section just says Fitting Room. So I’m not sure thinking works, if that’s the case across their stores. Better to ask if they will restore fitting rooms signed Male and Female?

My M&S is the same, just a fitting room area for everyone with a row of cubicles with lockable doors. it’s the same in my local Primark and H&M, except they just have curtains.

No, it’s the unnecessary and aggressive questioning of posters asking simple questions.

How do men get two and women have none - both have the same number, one each which does not change if M&S allow trans people to use changing rooms that accord to their gender identity.

I agree private organisations should not be forced to have inclusive facilities, but I don’t think they should be forced not to, either.

No, it’s the unnecessary and aggressive questioning of posters asking simple questions.

Well it's a simple answer, it's not acceptable for a single women or girl to be harmed by a man who is in a space that he is not entitled to be in.

I was asking the person how many they thought was acceptable. They haven't answered.

Says it all.
