Someone should have told me I could do this before now

I recently visited McDonald's with my clearly more knowledgeable kids and watched them order burgers stripped down of everything bar the burger, bun and ketchup. But then I noticed there was a plus sign to add on as well as a minus to remove.

This was even where there were already onions and pickles on the burger so it means you can have EXTRA onions and pickles to the ones already included.

Why did I not know this? My mate who was with us did not know either which makes me feel a bit better but how long have I been missing this trick???

Am I being unreasonable to think my kids should really know they need to tell me these things

YABVU to want pickles.

Gundogday · 02/04/2025 12:14

I didn’t know you can add either. How irresponsible of the youth of today not to tell you!

UpUpUpU · 02/04/2025 12:16

I k is this but I it because I order on the app.

I add extra cheese and sandwich sauce, remove the pickles though!

Nosaucelikemintsauce · 02/04/2025 12:18

Yabu to eat anything from there..

loropianalover · 02/04/2025 12:18

I always get extra onion! So good.

Trovindia · 02/04/2025 12:19

You can add bacon to the hamburgers as well. My son loves that

BeretRaspberry · 02/04/2025 12:20

So much pickle shaming! I love them!

Megifer · 02/04/2025 12:23

Yabu I couldn't possibly manage extra items, I'm already full after merely inhaling the aroma from outside.

ishouldhaveknownbefore · 02/04/2025 12:23

Onions and pickles are the best bits - I'm gutted that I missed out for so long. It's not the same these days as I used to be able to steal the unwanted pickles from the kids but now find they remove them so I don't get the chance 😂

On filet of fish

Springadorable · 02/04/2025 12:27

Knowledge is power. They are plotting your demise.

JustMyView13 · 02/04/2025 12:40

Your kids are BVU here!
They need to share this kind of intel with you, and maybe they’ll get treats more often. They absolutely missed a trick. ‘Mum, did you know…’ ‘No!? Show me…’ [Get’s extra McD] 😂

The kids need to work smarter, not harder 🤣🤣

GreatGardenstuff · 02/04/2025 12:46

You used to be able to double up the mcplant burger, but then they stopped it. Not been for months as a result.

dancinfeet · 02/04/2025 12:52

one of my favourite things to change / substitute / have as a side instead of fries is to order the £1.99 wrap of the day but remove the wrap from the options, so it comes as two chicken selects with lettuce. Works out cheaper than buying chicken selects from the main menu, and if you don’t like the accompanying sauce you can remove that too when ordering.

Now that is a really good tip - I never think of these things but that will save loads

Every day’s a school day!

I didn't know this either! Is this using the screen in the store? Presume you can't face to face? Saying that, not many maccies have face to face ordering now.

OneTC · 02/04/2025 13:21

You can add big Mac sauce to any burger.

They also do another burger sauce that I don't think it's on any of their regular burgers, ranch or something

Toddlerteaplease · 02/04/2025 13:26

My mum has a filet o fish with just the bun and fish. And no salt on her fries. Yuk.

Davros · 02/04/2025 13:26

Jaysus, I’m 65 and I knew this 🍔 🍟

nomas · 02/04/2025 13:27

I usually get the filet o fish, they charge for extra tartare sauce 😢

Here's your applause for being a better person than those who lower themselves to a McD's once in a while. Super well done 👏

I have this and have never been charged extra. Are you sure? Are you in the UK?

And here's yours for being a better person than those who lower themselves to a chilli double cheese burger every time they walk past
