Swinging teachers

Interested to read some opinions on this. Someone we know has found out that a teacher at their child's school is a swinger. This person is aghast about this and wants to report the teacher (not sure what for) and is refusing to let them teach their child.
My attitude is that as long as it doesn't affect their work (whichbit clearly isnt) then what the teacher chooses to do in their private time is their business and their business only. ATBU?

How did they find out?

If it was at all advertised that they were online or common knowledge among other teachers/parents I would think it was inappropriate and a safeguarding issue.

Why is safeguarding an issue? It's adult consensual sex we're talking about.

It doesn’t matter if you, I or anyone else find it “acceptable” - it isn’t our business. Concentrate on your own morals.

It is when my taxes are paying the Teachers who educate my kiddies, I'd prefer Teachers who have morals, self-respect, and dignity, which will reflect in the classroom

All I can say is, I hope they (the swingers) don't blame anyone but themselves if they end up with sexually transmitted diseases, or unwanted pregnancy, one partner, and one partner only is my way of thinking, and I won't change now !

Literally nobody is asking you to join in! Don’t like it, don’t do it.
You don’t own teachers 24/7 just because you pay your taxes!

RealEagle · 11/03/2025 12:58

Teachers are entitled to a life away from school .Who cares what they do

ItGhoul · 11/03/2025 13:03

Markovenchip · 11/03/2025 12:35

People should be content and happy with one partner only, while the taxes I pay are going towards Schools and Teachers wages, I will have my say about personal morals of those who teach, sleeping around willy-nilly is abhorrent to me, quite frankly.

People who 'sleep around willy-nilly' pay taxes towards schools and teachers' wages too, you know.

There are around 32 million taxpayers in the UK, so why do you imagine that what you happen to find abhorrent should be the benchmark for what teachers do in private?

I, like you, am a taxpayer. I'm not interested in swinging at all, but I've fucked my way very happily through a fair few partners in my time. I'm more than happy for adults to sleep with as many other adults as they like, in any given combination. Why is your view more important than mine? You can 'have your say' all you want. It doesn't mean anyone has to even listen to you, still less act upon it.

Nobody's asking you to change your way of thinking. You just need to accept that your way of thinking shouldn't have an impact on other people's sex lives.

I do, and I do, I wouldn't want my kiddies taught by a person who has no morals and self-respect, people should be happy with one partner only

Then one of your children ends up as a swinger be careful in glass houses. Life has a funny way of biting you on your arse.

And that's ok. But your taxes pay them to do a job, not to control their lifes.

What they do in the class is what you have a say in, outwith that it's nothing to do with you.

Teachers are human beings as well and are not doing anything illegal. Starting a witch hunt is.

Don't be ridiculous. Your taxes pay for what teachers do in school, not what they do in their free time. And your say about teachers' morals count for absolutely nothing, I'm afraid. Teaching is a job. You are not teachers' boss and you do not get to have input into who the school employs. You get no more say in the leisure activities or sexual preferences of your children's teachers than you do in those of your window cleaner, your hairdresser or your bank manager. And rightly so.

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 11/03/2025 13:53

So? Nobody's asking you to change. You only get to choose how many partners you have. Not how many other people have.

No, it isn't. Fortunately, Teachers job descriptions and codes of conduct do not take into account which personal characteristics you would "prefer" simply because you pay taxes. The fact that you are a taxpayer is utterly irrelevant and there is nothing in statutory or advisory guidance for schools that says it entitles you to a say in what Teachers can and cannot do in their personal lives. Teachers also pay taxes btw, even the swinging ones! It doesn't make you special.

Swingers tend to be much more clued up on STIs, testing, contraception and consent IME, than many non-swingers on OLD. Obviously nothing other than total abstince can be guaranteed to be 100% effective, but I'd say the average swinger will have a good idea of the risks they're taking.

So a person with a family who goes around sleeping with multiple partners is acceptable to you ?.......some people have no morals, self-respect, or dignity, and you call me a disgrace !

"Thou protest too much..."

Markovenchip · 11/03/2025 18:35

How?

By telling them it's okay to be promiscuous (in adult life)

I think I'm more special than a person who is openly promiscuous.

Which definition of special are we talking about? 🤔

You have absolutely no right to judge a teacher what they do in their personal time as long as it's legal, meets any safeguarding requirements & meets the schools policies.

Markovenchip · 11/03/2025 18:36

Perhaps... if the only way you judge someone's worth is by their sexual activity. A person could be a wonderful teacher, kind and helpful to the children, volunteers in a homeless shelter in her free time, is a talented musician and looks after her disabled sister and also happen to like having multiple partners. I think she'd be quite special.

On the other hand, a person could have only one partner at a time (totally normal, not at all special) and be unpleasant and judgmental (also not special or very unusual).

The code of conduct to which teachers must adhere includes 'British values', one of which is listed as 'individual liberty'.

'Individual liberty' includes being allowed to have as many consensual encounters with other adults as you like.

Do you also have something to say about highway maintenance workers? Bin collectors? "I pay taxes to fund your salary. Keep your filthy swinging hands off my recycling". I can only imagine how difficult your life must be if you have to verify every person you ever come into contact with is not "morally corrupt" in some way.
