Good morning, I am new to this.
I applied for Dla for my daughter in October 2024. Scan date 16th October 2024.
I caved in and called yesterday, told that someone has been assigned to her case now. Does anyone have a rough idea or similar situation as to how long a decision takes after being told this?

It shouldn't be too long now - probably within the next couple of weeks - it's taking about 20 weeks.

OnePinkPeer · 26/02/2025 08:13

Thank you so much 🙂

Hello all 2 questions how long roughly is a new claim taking? Scan date 24/12/2024 I'm sure I hit 10 weeks this week (I think) I know I wanted 18 weeks exactly when I applied for a different child a couple of years ago wasn't sure if the wait times was still the same-ish

And 2ndly how long does a renewal usually take. Is it the same as a new claim or a little less? I received my renewal pack mid Feb and have until 23rd Apr to send it back its completed already so I am aiming to send back Monday it's my first ever renewal so thryvare all new to me. Many thanks 😊

Renewals are usually done pretty close to the end date.

New claims are taking up to 25 weeks but I heard back in around 18 weeks last time.

Does anyone know how long claims are taking in northern ireland atm? (Different benefits office so it's not the same as england) when I applied for an older child it took 11 weeks that was 1.5 years ago

Thank you so much, so if renewal all goes well and he gets awarded mobility does that start from the end date (when original claim is due to end will it jst roll on) or does payments get backdated from the date they received the paperwork back? I have not yhr first clue on renewals

It just rolls on, and no it doesn't get backdated

Hi all, my scan date was the 5th of Feb. This is for a renewal, which is due to end beginning of may. Has anyone heard back yet with similar dates?
I have also recieved my childs draft ehcp, should I send this or wait for final? And the appendix c (written by adhd nurse) should I send this?
Thanks guys 😊

From what I understand they won't really accept evidence more than 2 years old unless it's a diagnostic report of a disability/condition. I'm pretty sure they want new and up to date evidence to shoe the care needs the child still has, I'd send all thst you can though

An EHCP can be excellent evidence if well written and clearly shows your child's needs.
