Please tell me the best mattress you have ever slept on! We need a new one, our current is way too firm and very uncomfortable!
We have never gotten over this one bed we slept in years ago in a hotel that felt like sleeping on a fluffy cloud! So please tell me your recommendations ! Thanks 🤩

Before getting an Emma I'd recommend checking the recent Trust Pilot reviews (terrible customer service if you have problems, I can attest to this).

I agree actually.
Just before we went for our Ikea one i was on the brink of buying an emma and then delved into the real customer reviews before pressing the button.

They put me right off!

Unforgettablefire · 18/02/2025 21:12

To pp saying premier inn have you bought them and slept on them?
I read they were made different and lower quality than the hotel ones I'd love to hear it's bs.

Op im in your boat only I prefer firm mattresses that don't give and I've yet to find one.

John Ryan By Design - Artisan Bespoke

This one - I have it and it's the best money I've ever spent

KateTrain · 18/02/2025 21:16

I love a premier inn mattress - bought one in 2019 from the premier inn site (a Hypnos mattress) and actually returned it! It was nothing like what I'd slept on in the hotels, it was awful.

singletonatlarge · 18/02/2025 21:17

I third John Ryan By Design - a wonderful mattress that I am grateful for every day. They have a similar construction to the Vipsring ones.

HarryVanderspeigle · 18/02/2025 21:18

I was always comfortable with my mattress, but got a memory foam topper due to back and shoulder pain. I love it so much! A lot cheaper than buying a whole new mattress and not too squishy like a whole mattress of memory foam would be.

GeorgiaLou3 · 18/02/2025 21:21

I have an Emma as budget doesn't stretch far. But totally agree don't buy from their website, get it anywhere else as the mattress is the best nights sleep I've ever had at home compared to a hotel, but their customer service is appalling.

Tooty78 · 18/02/2025 21:21

Hyder, I slept on one for a week in a hotel and it was absolute bliss!
I have a Hypnos at home which I thought was great, but the Hyder was on a whole new level.

Molluscsong · 18/02/2025 21:28

It's a kingsize one. Not silent night because we had a v disappointing one from them.
I always thought a harder mattress would give better support. Turns out it does... if you're a back sleeper. And we are not.
Medium hard has been an absolute life changer. No aches and pains and it's the absolute best place to be.

Glad when got it when the dc were too old to share it.

Zanzara · 18/02/2025 21:33

We bought a Premier Inn one online during lockdown to avoid going to a showroom and testing them. Sorry OP, but it was really disappointing. Hard and uncomfortable.

We like to go to some five star holiday cottages on the coast, and my husband pulled the sheet back to see what the mattress we were sleeping on there was.

I expected it to cost £2,000 plus, it was so comfortable. Imagine my delight when I found it was a mere fraction of that. It's made by Highgrove beds in Yorkshire, and below is a link. We've bought two so far.

Can't remember the brand but we got a hybrid one with a layer of cooling gel. Paid a small fortune for it but it paid for itself over the summer!

Sallysoup · 18/02/2025 21:44

I've just spent weeks researching mattresses! Was nearly swayed by a £2.5k Tempur at Dreams, looked at all the new Emma types, landed on a Silent night Geltex, it's so comfortable, we got medium firm but there are various ones, be aware though it's nearly 40cm deep so I've had to buy new sheets!

Drylogsonly · 18/02/2025 21:44

Emma mattress… 8 years in and counting. Took the old one away, new one arrived 2 days after ordering and Soooooo comfy.

MrsJoanDanvers · 18/02/2025 21:47

Another vote for John Ryan artisan mattress. They sometimes have clearance ones.

TheHouseElf · 18/02/2025 21:50

I've a Reylon. Not the cheapest, but really well made and last for years.

ServantsGonnaServe · 18/02/2025 21:50

Hankunamatata · 18/02/2025 21:51

Brought kids emma mattress (lux cooling version) for beds as couldn't get mammoth mattress we have on our bed. Have to say they were pricey but omg they are comfy

TemporaryPosition · 18/02/2025 21:52

Loaf top dog.

I can't cope with memory foam, makes me sweat like mad (TMI).

Another vote for Loaf top dog. We are on our second Loaf mattress having tried an Emma in between and getting rid due to the horrendous sweating!!!

Hankunamatata · 18/02/2025 21:53

I made mistake of getting foam one i hated luckily shop did free return and swap. So like a looney I spent a good 2 hours lying on 4 different mattresses before choosing. Probably go emma same as kids this time round

RiRaAgusRuailleBuaille · 18/02/2025 21:54

I have the Hypnos premier inn mattress (2019 version) and tbh no matter where I am on holiday, I long for my mattress, it’s the best I have ever slept.

Sebsaloysius · 18/02/2025 21:55

An iGel one from Bensons. It's blissfully comfortable, and an added (unexpected) bonus is that my awful night sweats are mostly a distant memory. Apparently, iGel is the new memory foam. I didn't hold much store by the promises of body temperature regulation, but honestly, it's been a sleep changer for me. We really did buy it as we loved the comfort/feel of it when we tried it. We've had it nearly a year and it's sooo comfortable, you can't feel your other half moving around either, which is always a bonus when you toss and turn as much as I do!

SpanThatWorld · 18/02/2025 21:59

I love our Hypnos mattress.

It came with 2 x free pillows which are normally £85 allegedly.
Outrageous, I thought.

OMG. So comfortable and they stopped my husband snoring! Twenty plus years I'd been elbowing him in the ribs and it almost all stopped. Oh happy day.

Before getting an Emma I'd recommend checking the recent Trust Pilot reviews (terrible customer service if you have problems, I can attest to this).

We bought an Emma mattress recently and it is lovely. However, the delivery was delayed 3 times and their communication is terrible, we kept the order because we wanted the mattress and as we'd ordered on a credit card we felt we could run the risk of it not turning up.

The mattress is genuinely really comfy and we got a good deal but we nearly lost the will with the customer service!
