I’m not doing anything. Probably be in bed before 12.

Sorry, no help to you.

SockFluffInTheBath · 30/12/2024 14:50

We don’t do new year, ghost of too many forced fun hogmanays that were actually cringey and dull.

We have a stockpile of party food, a bottle of nice red, and some films saved on Netflix. The local pub goes all in with fireworks so we’ll need to be here with the dogs anyway. That’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it 😅

Baby sitting 2 great grandchildren
ages 5 and nearly 2

TheatreTraveller · 30/12/2024 14:53

We're taking the kids to a lovely Light Trail and festive play structure. Snacks/drinks available and then 90min drive home to be back for 10ish.

CoastalCalm · 30/12/2024 14:54

Family birthday so gathering to have party food and play bingo for a couple of hours

Spink86 · 30/12/2024 14:55

I have a toddler and my friend's husband is working so she is coming here, we're having a cheese, charcuterie and wine hamper (no wine for the toddlers but he has developed an obsession with cream cheese crackers recently...) and just relaxing. She will leave before midnight to see husband as the clock strikes... toddler and I will be well asleep!

Pre child years we'd go to a local restaurant then would eat, drink and have a boogie (they would have a belly dancer on at about 1030 which would get the party started). Best thing was it was only a 5 min walk home so no faffing about getting a taxi!

SallyWD · 30/12/2024 14:55

Nothing!

PumpkinPie2016 · 30/12/2024 14:55

Nothing particular- can't stand NYE, never could.

During the day, I may pop out as need to finish sorting my dad's birthday present.

BusyPoster · 30/12/2024 14:57

Going out for dinner with my DH and another couple at my favourite restaurant. They lay on entertainment and dancing, I’m really looking forward to it.

shitshow1976 · 30/12/2024 14:58

I'm working a night shift in A+E like I do every single year and it will be mayhem. I love it 😀

SocksAndTheCity · 30/12/2024 14:58

I'm going to see Swan Lake in the afternoon and cooking seafood in the evening. I have a Waitrose trifle for after and I'll be in bed stinking of garlic for ten ish 🥳

Upstartled · 30/12/2024 14:59

Have the extended family, so 12 of us in all. Figuring out the specifics tomorrow - but will include food, drink, music, games and children running feral until they collapse.

Auburngal · 30/12/2024 15:00

I can't be doing with going out on NYE. Done it twenty years ago, in Leeds, and got fed up with waiting for taxis. So I walked the 4 miles home. I don't remember how I got home.

Since then - Jools Hootanany then bed about 1am.

Patienceinshortsupply · 30/12/2024 15:03

Dh would happily be at the centre of a rowdy party but I have zero tolerance of being surrounded by drunks. We usually have a nice tea and watch a few films then the fireworks. It's also one of our adult DC's birthdays so we're hosting lunch.

shiningstar2 · 30/12/2024 15:07

6 of us, three couples seeing the New Year in with a special meal at a lovely coastal restaurant just half an hour's drive away. Staying overnight in Premier Inn 2 minutes walk away from the restaurant so no one has to drive. 😃🍾🥂

GiddyRobin · 30/12/2024 15:07

We're still in Norway (DH is Norwegian), so we're having a family party. Lots of nice food, fancy clothes, and good music! We have a very quiet Christmas Day so NYE is the raucous one for us (after Christmas Eve). New Year's Day we'll go for a nice long walk, then come back and cook something delicious for dinner. Maybe a nice big side of salmon.

Auburngal · 30/12/2024 15:09

Anyone wanting to set fireworks in 50mph+ winds as they are going to be forecasted at midnight NYD - are foolish. Hope they get karma.

Karma?

That's quite dramatic

We have a family living room picnic, each persons favourite foods, blanket on the floor
Bubbly for adults and j20 for kids
We watch a film and then family tv until the littlest has had enough (he always says he's going to stay up but flakes around 9) then we pick an end of the year show on the tv for the rest of us and chill.
Just before midnight we go up to our room and open the side window curtains & everyone who is still up watches the fireworks (a guy up the road does them every year) & toasts the new year in
Then it's fairly rapidly to bed
We don't usually eat in the living room so it's a treat and the food is always an eclectic and fabulous mix

wonkylegs · 30/12/2024 15:11

And there will be a good handful of games of uno and possibly catan throughout the evening

MissyPants · 30/12/2024 15:15

Bugger all. Working on my uni assignment

Zanatdy · 30/12/2024 15:36

Popping to local micro pub for a couple of hours but home by 9-10pm. I’ll be in bed for midnight, cuddling the dog

Purplecatshopaholic · 30/12/2024 15:42

Having family over to stay but just because the dates fitted - not doing anything special for Hogmanay. We don’t drink and will likely be in bed before midnight, lol, but will have an Indian meal and watch films.

Cattery · 30/12/2024 15:43

Staying in. Did enough New Year’s Eves at parties for years. It’s my birthday just after midnight so will stay up watching Jools Holland with some drinks x

Orangelight23 · 30/12/2024 15:44

Long bath using all my new goodies. Got a very lovely Estee Lauder skin care set that I will use. New pj's and slippers. Couch, fizz and food. Rock and roll!
