I don't go out these days but trying to gather ideas really for staying in

Also happy to hear other peoples going out and having fun stories x

mindutopia · 30/12/2024 16:46

Possibly staying awake til midnight at home watching everything on tv. Even when I actually liked going out, I hated NYE. Too crowded and drunken for me. Dd has asked to stay up, so may do it with her and then Dh and I will tuck ourselves into bed with a herbal tea.

StarDolphins · 30/12/2024 16:46

I used to go out when I was younger but disliked it even then. Food not good & rushed, prices hiked & too many queues.

I stay in with my DD & we’ll get a takeaway & see if we can stay up ‘til midnight. We’re out shopping all day tomorrow so my aim is to get her shattered so she falls asleep at 10pm so then I can fall asleep too🤣

useitorlose · 30/12/2024 16:47

I'll be on a plane, landing about 10.45 local time, so hopefully at midnight I'll be nearly home.

DinkyDale · 30/12/2024 16:50

Bath, then relaxing with a film perhaps. Can't stand NYE, and will pop ear plugs in so I can drown the noise out

Ohhhthedrama · 30/12/2024 16:59

We are going big this year for a change. Big party, catering, Dj & fireworks (sorry, I know they're hated around here). Friends, neighbors & and kids' friends all invited. I can't wait.

Lossyfloss · 30/12/2024 17:07

We're at my parents house. A lovely roast, some games and a drink at midnight (we're not big drinkers!)

WellsAndThistles · 30/12/2024 17:08

DH won't be home from work until 10:30pm at the earliest so I'll be sitting home alone probably binge watching something on Netflix.

loveforautumn · 30/12/2024 17:10

Sod all, had a really rubbish Christmas this year and can't be bothered to make any effort for nye, I doubt il be up for 12 unless the kids want too. I use to love Christmas and new year, I hate them both now 😂

mumofoneAlonebutokay · 30/12/2024 17:11

Just me and dd - we're gonna open the blinds, have the tv on so we can watch the fireworks, which she loves - we'll also watch the jools annual hootenanny

I'm gonna get some shloer and plastic champagne glasses and we'll 'toast' 2025 together ❤️

EvanBuckleysWife · 30/12/2024 17:12

Sitting in bed with ear defenders on because I can’t stand the bangs of fireworks 😭

WillimNot · 30/12/2024 17:12

My pub is open until 4pm
We then closed and we've hand picked some of our regulars and sensible folk for a private NYE party. Our pub had a fantastically bad reputation for years, and last year apparently it kicked off and the windows were smashed in. So to get round that, closed it is.

OldTinHat · 30/12/2024 17:14

Nothing, as per.

I'll be in bed with an audio book and dog by about 9pm.

Justsaywhatyoumean123 · 30/12/2024 17:15

I think we'll be on the sofa watching Jools Holland but have both
said if we get bored we'll wander down to our local drag bar for some entertainment!

leftorrightnow · 30/12/2024 17:16

Going to friends house for a meal (pot luck that’s been planned) and party and fireworks at midnight. Have prepared various games to keep the kids entertained- bingo, pass the parcel etc.

if you’re staying in, are you staying in w someone or by yourself?

bluedelphiniums · 30/12/2024 17:18

NoraLuka · 30/12/2024 16:30

Staying in with DD who has depression and won’t entertain the idea of doing anything. Not sure she’ll even leave her room but I’ll make us a nice meal and see if she’ll watch a film or play a game or something. She probably won’t want to so I’ll end up watching the film on my own or maybe reading/painting. DP will be with friends so I will pop over to see them all but don’t like leaving DD for too long.

So sorry @NoraLuka hope 2025 is a better year for you both. Nothing tougher than when you're kids have MH issues, been there..

CharlotteCChapel · 30/12/2024 17:19

We couldn't do a, family chr as DD was working so she and DGS are coming over and we'll have nice meal. In bed before 12 as DD is sofa hogging.

user556453 · 30/12/2024 17:31

We generally go to an annual party, but have had a full on (but lovely) Christmas of hosting family and friends, and one of our dogs has developed a full-on terror of fireworks, so we've decided to stay home. Guests have left, but uni-aged children, still here, with assorted girlfriends and boyfriends and friends have tickets to see the fireworks and will no doubt be heading to parties. So we'll have lasagne, in an attempt to line their stomachs, and send them on their way. DH and I will have a glass (or a bottle 😂) of champagne and go to bed as soon as we can settle the doggie.

We're hosting New Years Day cocktails and nibbles the next evening, so will probably do some prep for that.

@NoraLuka
Sending wishes that things improve for your DD (and you). That's so hard.

Happy New Year to everyone, and wishing a healthy and bright 2025 to all, especially those who had a crap 2024!

Topseyt123 · 30/12/2024 17:38

Nothing special. I don't do New Year.

I will ill probably watch a film of some sort with DD and just have a quick drink at midnight to toast the New Year. That's it. I am not a party animal.

MogontheTyne · 30/12/2024 17:40

We were going to see the fireworks on the quayside in Newcastle but I’m expecting it to be cancelled due to wind, which is forecast to be up to 50mph.

timetodecide2345 · 30/12/2024 17:54

We will do some nice food for DH and I. We've saved a film we want to watch. I may make it to midnight but it's touch and go. These days I like to have an early drink and retire to bed. I've got family coming for a New Year's Day meal.

squashyhat · 30/12/2024 18:13

DH and I have been stuffed full of cold from Christmas Eve owards and are only just feeling vaguely human again. So we're going for an early dinner at a local Italian and then back for fizz and BigJet TV doing his annual London fireworks livestream from Heathrow.

TheFormidableMrsC · 30/12/2024 18:16

I invited my friend round with her kids (both lone parents) but this afternoon I've got an extra two friends and their kids too so it will be a busy evening! I will lay on a buffet. Looking forward to it for once!

PrioritisePleasure24 · 30/12/2024 18:21

Working til 8 (healthcare) then having some nibbles and a couple of drinks before falling asleep before midnight probably! Have new year’s day off tho

mrlistersgelfbride · 30/12/2024 18:45

Meal with partners family at 3pm then home. Bottle of prosecco rose chilling in fridge for after DD 7 goes to bed (she's a night owl like me).

Will nip outside at midnight to greet neighbours that pop outside too and watch the fireworks that will inevitably be going off.

Hootenanny will be on TV, or Glastonbury performances.
I quite like NYE.

Cattery · 30/12/2024 15:43

Staying in. Did enough New Year’s Eves at parties for years. It’s my birthday just after midnight so will stay up watching Jools Holland with some drinks x

Happy birthday
