Not much this year as have a nearly 9 month old baby so we’re all going to a local restaurant for some food and then home to do bath/bed time, despite going to bed with my baby I’m confident I’ll still end up seeing midnight because she reliably wakes up pretty much every hour on the hour from 10pm at the minute🤣

Dramatic · 30/12/2024 15:47

Having a small gathering of close friends and their kids at our house as usual, few snacks, maybe a board game. Usually gets quite loud and chaotic by midnight 😂

Lansonmaid · 30/12/2024 15:48

Hopefully going to bed at 10.30. DH and DS are going to have a James Bond film evening and maybe wake me at midnight for a drink. NYE is very overrated I think.

MistressoftheDarkSide · 30/12/2024 15:49

I shall be in bed with my original cat and a new year old girl cat that I was given yesterday, making sure diplomatic relations remain calm. Currently the new addition is asleep on the middle of the bed, and boy cat is snuggled up behind my knees and as close to my rear as he can get.

We shall watch horror films and might just do a few texts at midnight.

Bliss 😊

But Happy New Year to you all, whatever you're doing, and may 2025 make some sense, because 2024 sure as feck didn't 😂

Antsinmypantsneedtodance · 30/12/2024 15:51

Indian takeaway with 4 year old daughter at about 17:00 then a normal evening. Might pop a film on.

neverbeenskiing · 30/12/2024 15:52

We're staying in. We've got sparklers for the kids to have out in the garden and we'll make them hot chocolate with marshmallows, then maybe play a board game. When they've gone to bed DH and I will have a takeaway from our favourite Thai place and share a bottle of fizz while we watch a film. We're not really fussed whether we stay up to see midnight or not, will see how we feel. Neither of us has ever really liked going out on NYE.

BashfulClam · 30/12/2024 15:53

I’m Scottish so Hogmanay means you clean the house so you don’t take the lady years dirt into a new year. On Ne’erday you can’t clean as you’ll clean away your luck and if you do laundry you wash away a life. After the shite luck I’ve had in 2025 I’m not taking chances. At midnight the backdoor gets opened on the first bell and 2024 can fuck right off! Then on the final bell the front door gets opened to bring in the New year. Then I raise a glass to absent friends as there are more this year, I lost a few good ones!

Cinnamongirlinthesand · 30/12/2024 16:11

Staying in with d dog. Partner invited me out but expects me to drive there and back, whereas he can walk from his place. Have fibromyalgia, so only drive when needs must and will not drive after taking meds.Think I'll be single again soon and really not bothered .No one is better than just anyone.Onwards and upwards.

garlictwist · 30/12/2024 16:14

Few friends including young kids going for dinner at 7ish, then kids will go home and we will go to the pub for the rest of it.

I'm going to see Swan Lake in the afternoon and cooking seafood in the evening. I have a Waitrose trifle for after and I'll be in bed stinking of garlic for ten ish 🥳

I recommend a nicer trifle!

We have friends round for the evening. It’s one of my children’s birthdays so we’ve always stayed in and had the party at our house.

Gingerkittykat · 30/12/2024 16:17

I was planning on going to the same street party tht I have been to most years since 2000 but there is a yellow rain warning and my friend is ill. I'll just stay in and eat cheese instead!

It looks like it's going to be a bad year in Scotland for parties, Edinburgh has just cancelled their party due to the weather.

Edit, the yellow weather warning has now been upgraded to an amber warning for wind and rain.

Fireworks, which are green and red, explode over the Balmoral Hotel in Edinburgh. The castle is in the background and is lit up in purple. The sky is dark.

Edinburgh Hogmanay celebrations cancelled

All events for 30 December and Hogmanay to be scrapped, including a concert in Princes Street Gardens.

Meeting up at a friend's house. There will be about 8 couples I think. Good food (everyone brings a dish), good company, probably some games. All pretty low key but nice.

ByShyRaven · 30/12/2024 16:25

Two kids - 6 and 2. We are leaving kids with grandparents and going out to a drum and bass night 😀.

shitshow1976 · 30/12/2024 14:58

I'm working a night shift in A+E like I do every single year and it will be mayhem. I love it 😀

Haha same about the working it, not sure about the loving it bit. 1st time as senior reg in MTC tho. Wonder how likely it is I'll get to watch the fireworks out the window

MummyInTheNecropolis · 30/12/2024 16:28

I’m taking my 7 year old niece shopping to spend her Christmas money, we’ll have lunch out together. I love spending time with her, she’s such a sweetheart. I’ll be on my own in the evening as my DD will be out partying so I’ll probably watch a film and maybe get a takeaway if funds allow.

NoraLuka · 30/12/2024 16:30

Staying in with DD who has depression and won’t entertain the idea of doing anything. Not sure she’ll even leave her room but I’ll make us a nice meal and see if she’ll watch a film or play a game or something. She probably won’t want to so I’ll end up watching the film on my own or maybe reading/painting. DP will be with friends so I will pop over to see them all but don’t like leaving DD for too long.

Ponderingwindow · 30/12/2024 16:31

Teen dd is going to a friends. DH will do some appetizers type dishes for dinner while we binge watch tv or a movie. In bed by 10.

MajorCarolDanvers · 30/12/2024 16:32

Family party. Board games. Booze. Steak pie. Watch the fireworks at the Bells.

Soccermumamir · 30/12/2024 16:33

Takeaway and a film 🙂

2chocolateoranges · 30/12/2024 16:35

We are going out to our local pub who do a party night . This is the second year we have gone and it’s been a great night, good buffet, great entertainment and a short walk home.

i used to work in hospitality and worked most of them so making the most of not having to work.

Wildywondrous · 30/12/2024 16:35

Nothing except watch a bit of telly, do some crochet and in bed for 11.
The forecast is awful so at least they're won't be thousands of fireworks going off at midnight terrifying all the animals.

I used to go out but then realised that I didn't enjoy it and was only out because I felt like I should be.

Suzuki76 · 30/12/2024 16:39

We've been with family since Boxing Day and I have reached peak had-enough of people, so we're going to enjoy getting home, flopping once DS is in bed and sitting in silence with a film and some fizz.

Sparxdislike · 30/12/2024 16:42

Late night bowling and cinema with the children and husband :) then home just in time nibbles to see the NY in.

Same. I decided that after 7 days of family I would be done socialising. I was right!
