Are there any conspiracy theories you believe in?

Inspired by another thread

I find conspiracy theories really interesting. I have never ‘believed’ any of them, more enjoy discussing them and how likely it seems that they could be true. I also think it’s more far fetched to believe that everything we have ever been told or ever will be told is the whole truth.

Are there any CTs you believe in? Lead me down a rabbit hole please!

More likely he’s latched onto something because he’s low on intelligence & this makes him feel like he’s onto something.

This is someone that thinks ‘off the beacon track’ is a correct phrase.

I'd say you should try meeting just one of the hundreds of people who now have incurable conditions due to the covid jab. See if you feel the same way then. Id say it is you, who is low on both intelligence and information.

Birds aren't real

what are the things we think are birds?

Oh just stop it. That’s not what the context meant at all and you know it. Either you are pointlessly goading or just stupid

are you having a hard time at home or something ?

Why does everyone say we never went back to the moon? There were 11 more moon landings after the first one!

It's incredibly expensive, we got what we wanted from going the times that we did, there hasn't been enough political will to do it again at such a cost.

There are mirrors and other artifacts that we put on the moon, we brought moon rocks back to earth. We definately went, the Russians would have disproved it years ago if it wasn't true

Point of order: There were 7 missions to the moon that were intended to land on it, Apollo 11 through 17. Apollo 13 had an accident and had to limp back home, so only 6 missions landed.

Apart from that your post is spot-on, especially about the mirrors. Several observatories around the world fire lasers at them on a regular basis to measure the exact distance to the moon, which various for a variety of reasons. The conspiracies either ignore the mirrors, or claim that all of the scientists at all of those observatories are patties who have been recruited as part of the ongoing cover-up.

JFK
John Lennon wasn't just shit by an arsehole it was a set up.
Kurt Cobain wasn't suicide.
Princess Diana
COVID.

I do think there may have been something damaging in the cover vaccine.

I had it, and my health has never been good since.

I wish I hadn't taken it

Don't ever say that on quora digest...I simply said I'd never had the vaccine and a load of Americans handed my arse to me on a plate...ridiculous I know

Thanks for the fact check, I knew there had been several moon landings but couldn't remember the number so went with what Google told me 🤣

Robot spies deployed by the government. Apparently. I was convinced by a Facebook comment by someone who said 'how would a pigeons legs keep it up, of course they're not real'. Now I definitely don't believe in pigeons 👀 😂

This is the pentagon/Congress hearing I was referring to. Actually 2023 not earlier this year. Evidence of a craft of “non human origin “. 🤷‍♀️

of course it could be the Chinese are far more advanced than us and its Chinese. Maybe the military guy is full of shit and made it all up.

This is a fairly recent podcast about JFK. I'm pretty persuaded that LHO had nothing to do with the assassination.

Talking about birds legs, I’m not sure i want to believe in owls anymore after seeing this photo

I don't think there are any other conspiracies that I believe, other than wanting the CIA to have written Wind of Change by the Scorpions (that's my favourite conspiracy).

FeegleFrenzy · 22/12/2024 22:53

I’d quite like to believe in the possibility of BigFoot. There’s an awful lot of fairly unaccessible forest/mountains in the USA. If there are a limited amount of shy creatures maybe it’s possible.

Anonym00se · 22/12/2024 22:53

I don’t strongly believe in any one conspiracy theory, but if we had proof that any one (of many) were true, I wouldn’t be surprised in the slightest.

Moier · 22/12/2024 22:53

Covid definitely was man made from a Chinese laboratory... they were trying to beat the Americans to find a cure for the common cold.

Mourningmorningsleep · 22/12/2024 22:53

I'm always surprised that people still don't think the NASA moon landings happened. Do they also think that the manned soviet missions didn't happen? Chinese Chang'e landings and sample returns brought back similar rocks to both. Their moon rocks are similar and have the same unusual aspects to their chemistry. There are many hundreds of scientific peer reviewed papers on USA and USSR returned moon rocks, authored and cited by diverse international groups, are they all making up their results in some massive multinational cover-up? I am a scientist and I research moon rocks. Many look pretty different to anything on Earth. They have a different chemistry. They've often been damaged by large meteorite impacts. They are extremely old and never got weathered by water.

No conspiracy theories for me, they're all bonkers and I know of families and friendshios ripped apart by them during COVID.

I wonder how Keats would have written "Ode to a robot spy"

but..."A Robot Spy sang on Berkeley Square" does scan rather well.

Of course satellites are in space.

If I can see it with my own naked eye, it's not too that far away from me in reality
...surely you've seen the moon?

And nobody has ever claimed to have landed on another planet and come back home. For a return journey, the moon is as far as we've got.

I suspect you're dealing with someone who either thinks the moon is a planet, or who doesn't understand the distinction.

A lot of conspiracy thinking derives from the fact that some topics require you to either have a certain amount of science education, or trust people who do. Conspiracy thinkers typically score very low on psychological measures of trust, and prefer their own intuitions and observations. Sadly, large amounts of the technology that make the modern world run are not directly accessible to our senses (radio waves, DNA, semiconductors, software, general relativity) and so we have to trust others to some extent. As Arthur C. Clarke wrote, "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic".

ForeverDelayedEpiphany · 22/12/2024 22:55

I kind of believe a little bit about the Illuminati and all those associated things. The world seems too messed up for there not to be some very powerful people behind everything all the time.

Generally I don't believe conspiracy theories.

But I'm not sure about Dr David Kelly. I know his wife felt he had been driven to take his own life, rather than directly killed, but I just am not sure.

Elsbetka · 22/12/2024 22:57

This thread is fascinating. I'm a pretty cynical person generally but for some reason most conspiracy theories don't really resonate with me, mainly because I'm very sceptical about most people's ability to keep things quiet/stick to a story. Having said that, clearly there will be lots of instances of authorities not making all info public.about a particular news story or event, for example. I haven't RTFT so this may have been mentioned, but Jon Ronson's stuff on this is good - his book, "Them: Adventures with Fundamentalists" is really interesting.

Funnily enough I'm watching Angels & Demons as I type this 😁
