Are there any conspiracy theories you believe in?

Inspired by another thread

I find conspiracy theories really interesting. I have never ‘believed’ any of them, more enjoy discussing them and how likely it seems that they could be true. I also think it’s more far fetched to believe that everything we have ever been told or ever will be told is the whole truth.

Are there any CTs you believe in? Lead me down a rabbit hole please!

To be honest, if people didn’t learn from Covid and still believe everything the government and media tells them, there is no hope for them.

If people didn’t learn what about coronaviruses?

theDudesmummy · 22/12/2024 20:20

I can assure you @RichardnotJudy that you absolutely cannot tell if people are murderers (or have committed any kind of crime, homicidal or otherwise) just by "looking at them". What do you expect they would look like?

“I have a degree of ✨ intelligence ✨ “

Anyone who has to tell you that they are intelligent to convince you of their intellect, already failed the test.

If it’s a choice between conspiracy and cock up, it’s always cock up.

EvelynBeatrice · 22/12/2024 20:20

Unfortunately it’s easy to understand what some regard as improbable fears about state control and domination of the individual in the future if you read any of the reputable newspapers.
For example, in recent weeks, there’s been an article about robot/ drone police in China policing the streets and able to apprehend ‘offenders’ who are identified from the database and many on street cameras.

At the same time, there are many reports of the ‘social capital’ system whereby people who’ve contravened rules are denied bank accounts etc, can’t use credit cards, pay for anything, their kids barred from schools etc. Complete social control by the state ensuring absolute obedience.

These things sound like sci-fi but are actually happening now in parts of the world.

I believe it's the height of arrogance to believe that we are alone in the universe that life only began here we might be the only lifeforms that look like us in this universe but we are not alone

I don’t believe we are the only life in the universe. I’m a Christian. There are many other forms of life described in the Bible.

Ooh interesting

There’s an interesting article about this by Nick Ross, and it really does make this theory look very unlikely.

How would you classify the Post Office & Horizon?

A lot of people who believe that CT don't believe it was the car crash that killed her. They believe the car crash was arranged with the driver so that paid off paramedics would attend the scene and kill her.

So you actually think someone approached paramedics in the hope they would agree to not to treat her or kill at the scene of the accident ( and not tell anyone if they didnt agree ) and also in the hope they would be called to the scene and not attending another incident and also in the hope they wouldn't have their act witnessed by any members of the public or surviving occupants of the car . Utter rubbish .

Funny that. It’s never a cock up when it affects the people who make decisions. Yet all these ‘mishaps’ are put down to bad luck when it lines their pockets and takes away from the general public.

Cock ups is what the general public like to believe because accepting they are being bent over time and again, is too humiliating and insulting.

Jill Dando murder was a set up as she knew about Saville and others and was planning to expose.

I think this is very unlikely to be true, particularly based on Nick Ross’s article about it.

David Kelly, Jeffrey Epstein and the spy in the suitcase didn't kill themselves.

Why?

blankittyblank · 22/12/2024 20:23

@RichardnotJudy

Quite right. Many go missing but turn up look at shannon matthews. All shady as fook.

Gezza Mccann admitted drugging the kids didnt he? A pair of complete wrong uns.

What's that got to do the Mcanns?

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 22/12/2024 20:23

I wouldn't be at all surprised to find out that Mohamed al-Fayed had orchestrated Diana's death, actually...

theDudesmummy · 22/12/2024 20:23

And what does "no smoke without fire" mean? That people who are suspected of or charged with crimes are always guilty?

AwfullyWeeBillyBigchin · 22/12/2024 20:24

shuggles · 22/12/2024 20:07

@TomorrowTodayYesterday No. Because I have a degree of intelligence.

If you had a degree of intelligence, you would be aware that some conspiracy theories have actually turned out to be true. For example, the Tuskegee syphilis study.

Those who are not sceptical of the powers that be tend to be those with an infantile worldview; those who think that those in charge will always do the right thing and will always adhere to the rules. This is not the case, and there are always things going on that the general public are not aware of.

Edited

The Tuskegee syphilis study isn't a conspiracy, it's was just a poorly and unethically conducted study.

Sure, there have been conspiracies, very, very few of them, but that in no way legitimises conspiracy theorists' views. Also, it is quite possible to recognise that the powers that be may not always have our best interests at heart, regardless of what they claim, and to recognise that conspiracy theories are almost entirely utter bollocks.

CharlotteLightandDark · 22/12/2024 20:24

I don’t believe the McCanns were responsible but I think Gerry is a controlling individual and dominates Kate which why they come off a bit strange.

I was about to say this! This is the scandal of the 2003 invasion - the sexed up dossier etc. There have been many official reports and investigations that show WMD did not exist.

But weren’t those who protested that there were no WMDs portrayed as conspiracy theorists until it was proven to be a lie?

Ytcsghisn · 22/12/2024 20:25

EmeraldRoulette · 22/12/2024 20:22

How would you classify the Post Office & Horizon?

Anyone with an ounce can see that the post office scandal was government corruption on a massive scale. Horizon we’re getting public sector contracts until earlier this year. 25 years after the post office debacle started.

Again no one wants to admit that the people in charge are literally stealing from the public in broad daylight. Because it’s too humiliating to admit that the public keeps falling for it.
