Just went to book odeon for me and my 6yo tonight. £35 for non Premier seats! Which means I can't afford to go to the cinema anymore. Wild! Anyone else got the same problem? I'm a bit gutted!

We should have a thread running on here where people can ask if anyone has a Sky code going begging for the two free tickets a month.

I never use mine (none of the local cinemas we use are Vue), and I'd be very happy to PM somebody my code if they could use it.

That's a great idea! I'm using mine this month and next month but normally I don't and they expire. I also get one a month from Monzo.

@thesugarbumfairy how do you get the amazon prime offer? Have prime, and an odeon bearish.

BTW- love your user name!

pizzaHeart · 29/11/2024 11:39

I agree that it’s very different in different cinemas / places but my feeling is that Odeon is usually more expensive.

TiredTuftyTeddy · 29/11/2024 11:41

If you have a Reel cinema near you they do 'movie madness' so tickets are £3.99. 6 of us went to see Wicked last Sunday for £24. It is set times but they worked for us. Worth a look.

Sunshineandrainbow · 29/11/2024 11:43

@Raffaelli I will probably have a 2 for 8.00 code you can use if you want it

Just type 'amazon prime odeon 2 for £10' into google and it should give you a link to click through to your account. then you get a numberical code you have to use within 30 minutes. I just went to the odeon website and booked it on my phone
You're allowed one a month. For Mondays to Thursdays

@Raffaelli

marmaladeandpeanutbutter · 29/11/2024 12:22

I've just looked up their average premier price and it's way cheaper than that!

PuppyMonkey · 29/11/2024 12:35

@thesugarbumfairy thanks so much for the Prime offer link, I had absolutely no idea about this! Smile

JaninaDuszejko · 29/11/2024 12:56

I checked all our local cinemas (Vue, Cineworld, Odeon, Everyman and Independent). All except the Everyman are about £7 per person, the Everyman is £15 for an adult and £10 for a child. I live in the NE though so if they charged £35 for 2 people they would really struggle. Do you live somewhere very affluent?

Fluffyc1ouds · 29/11/2024 12:57

That price is insane. Our nearby cinemas are around £6 a seat. I consider the cinema to be a fairly cheap activity.

Panda89 · 29/11/2024 13:11

Our odeon is £12.99 for a normal adult seat and £15.99 for premier - this is in Wiltshire so not fancy/affluent!
They do some better deals on weekdays as I’ve taken DD to 10am showings before in the school holidays for £5 each.

All the discount codes I have (octopus/meerkat) are mon-Thurs only and we are only free tonight so have forked out to take DD to Moana 2.

Needmorelego · 29/11/2024 13:21

@Raffaelli I still think you must have clicked the wrong tickets somehow.
Someone upthread mentioned that it sounds like the IMAX price? Did you choose that?

notarunner · 29/11/2024 13:27

We went to see Wicked in 4DX at Cineworld last weekend - £54😫thankfully I paid half of it with Clubcard vouchers but I'm surprised people still go to the cinema at those prices!

Needmorelego · 29/11/2024 13:30

@notarunner of course it will be expensive if you go to a 4DX showing. I imagine most people don't do that very often.

SJM1988 · 29/11/2024 13:40

Our local small chain cinema is £10 a seat for large seats that you can reline and put your feet up.
I never go unless I can get it on meerkat movies (2 for1) or to go to their £3 kids club movie.

I'm also in the sticks! Don't want to say exactly where but relatively rural. Not many cinemas about, next one is about 15 miles away, but £35 is genuinely the cheapest ticket for odeon. It's the adult and child offer. I wonder if more rural cinemas are actually more expensive? Apparently it has just been done up and is very fancy inside so they might be trying to recoup some costs....

Wow, I assumed this was central London prices. I'm in the southeast and generally pay £8-10 for an adult. Approx. double that for NT/ENO/ROH/Met live screenings and half that for off peak days/mornings. If I had to pay £35 I just couldn't go the cinema, which is/should be a cheap treat imo.

elliejjtiny · 29/11/2024 13:59

Ours aren't that expensive but the cinema has become a once a year treat for us now. When dh and I were students a student ticket would be £3:20 and then we would pay about £2 each for sweets and a drink in Woolworths. We used to go regularly then.

No i didn't either (although as I mentioned its never applied to me before as we dont have a local odeon) I was in London with child yesterday and he wanted to see Wicked, so it was a spur of the moment googling, and voila! half an hour later we were in the luxe cinema!

PineappleCoconut · 29/11/2024 14:28

Needmorelego · 29/11/2024 09:16

@PineappleCoconut that seems odd.
I went to an Odeon for Wicked last week (big London one) and paid £13 for an adult ticket.

I think it's the living in the sticks premium😫

I realise I was conned by odeon into the recliner+ price.

Standard recliner, the only other option, is just over £18 for an adult ticket. They grey out recliner & make recliner+ seats bright orange so it looked like those were the only available seats.

ElaborateCushion · 29/11/2024 14:38

Feel very lucky to have an Omniplex near me.

I looked the other day to see what a morning showing of Wicked would cost and I can get a regular seat for £5 for Saturday morning! It's £8.95 for an evening ticket.

YOOHOOITSMEEE · 29/11/2024 14:57

ive a maxine cinema £2.50 any showing

user2848502016 · 29/11/2024 16:46

Ridiculous!
I don't go to our local big cinema (cineworld) anymore - we have 2 smaller privately run ones nearby which are nicer and cheaper , £18.50 for and adult & 2 kids tonight to see wicked.
Their snacks are cheaper than cineworld too and one of them sells alcohol!

MiniStormInATeacup · 29/11/2024 16:54

I think this can so depend on where our live and whether it have access o offers to cheaper cinema.

Where I live we have an odeon and an everyman. Odeon is £19 for an adult and child sat (not premier). Everyman is about £35 for 2.

A town not to far away (15-20 min drive) has an odeon where tickets are always £5 so I usually drive there.

We also have a town further away 35 mins drive that is an old fashioned picture house (with organ that plays at interval) which is somewhere between the to Odeons in price but cost more to drive too.

I have access to Meerkat octopus Vodafone and cheaper cinema through work but unless I want to go to our local odeon I rarely use them as the drive for £5 is still cheaper. I usually find the apps more restrictive in terms of the days of week I can use them.

I never buy cinema priced treats and always take my own drink and snacks.

Cinema should not so expensive!

Suzuki76 · 29/11/2024 16:57

We have Limitless. It goes down to about £110 in the January sales for an annual pass and we use it about 4 times a month each!
