Because she’s the daughter probably

Because she was the public face of the campaign. While he was doing his thing in the background.

Quote from yesterday’s news: “my father would be so upset I’m going through this.”

No, he would be upset by your utter greed and stupidity.

He might not give a stuff tbh.

fedup33 · 23/11/2024 09:23

He might not give a stuff tbh.

For all we know, he may have felt powerlessly controlled and pressured into it all by her - and at least content to know that she would be found out and get what's coming to her eventually.

roastiepotato · 23/11/2024 09:40

We'll never know if captain tom was in on this and that's quite sad

Yeah I don’t think Captain Tom would give a single fuck about how greedy and stupid his daughter is. I think he was in on it from the start.

That said, I never had any time for the daft old cunt walking up and down in his multi-million pound garden wearing his war medals telling us we should give him cash, however I do think his daughter is slightly more culpable than he is. His age would have made him more vulnerable and less media savvy. The whole lot of them are twats but Hannah I-M is undoubtedly the worst of the lot, and was clearly the driving force. For that she should be held accountable. I am not sure it is misogyny, rather that she made herself the public face of it all, and is therefore receiving the criticism in a more public way (than say her husband).

Eh? What have I missed?

I was wondering exactly that too!?!

Thought Russ had passed away?

What about the woman in Sheffiekd running up and down the stairs...is she still doing it?

TheHangingGardensOfBasildon · 23/11/2024 10:08

Many very elderly people are genuinely delightful, because that is the kind of person they are and have been their whole lives.

However, many deeply unpleasant people also get old and, whilst still inherently remaining that way, they often realise that they need to start adopting a new persona, playing the 'sweet old person' card in order to manipulate others on whom they now rely and to capitalise on the 'old people are so sweet' myth.

None of us on here will ever know now whether Captain Tom was at either of these extremes or anywhere in between.

Russ is still with us - he's 77.

tiger2691 · 23/11/2024 10:18

Found it fishy from the start but of course one was unable to say anything at the time.

Thats desparate that picrure. Really.

vivainsomnia · 23/11/2024 10:45

The taking of her elderly frail dad to Barbados sealed it for me.

It was so clearly another mean for her to convince what a PR guru she was. It was all about her from the start and with popularity came greediness, to the point of exposing her dad to the high risk of illness and death.

She is and clearly was always totally delusional about her being a loving daughter. Whether he was a nice man or not, she certainly didn't show herself to be a good daughter.

I hoped so badly that she'd finally be exposed one day. She has thankfully.

This is a lesson for us all though. However much we think ourselves as intelligent and self aware, as a population, we are as vulnerable to fall for fraudsters as those older women paying for young foreign men promising their love and devotion.

Let's hope we remember that because they are more of her around and speaks will be if we let ourselves believe anything.

Mamabearsmile · 23/11/2024 11:08

Th fall out as they grasp for more....

Er, not all of us fell for it! many of us mentioned it seemed off and we got shouted down and told we were being ageist and hateful. I got quite a bit of abuse when I mentioned on here that it seemed suspect

We all got abuse and posts deleted. It was rabid even a sniff out of place on here.

I agree there's a lesson to be learned. Don't be so cock sure of yourselves in future maybe.

fedup33 · 23/11/2024 12:33

I can in all honesty say I never bought into Tom, Paddington, the Royals, Boris and the stupid rules.
Very sorry for people who suffered, very sorry indeed. My mother spent some of her last days in utter isolation.
But a great deal of it was utter nonsense.

bifurCAT · 23/11/2024 13:07

The hot tub incident sealed their fate for me.

A shot paper that all the lefties read?

Not surprising, most lefties practice hypocrisy. Say one thing and do the exact opposite.

Eh?

anon666 · 23/11/2024 14:02

They are completely shameless. He was just a cash cow. He died of covid he caught while on an all expenses paid "family" trip in the Caribbean gifted by BA.

Once they'd killed their golden goose, they started milking his legacy.

The worst bit is their complete and utter lack of shame. They are the scum of the earth in my opinion, and archetypal of the entitlement of the upper classes. They just cannot understand that they have to play by the rules.

See also Jeremy Clarkson marching on Westminster now his inheritance tax avoidance scheme has been rumbled.

fedup33 · 23/11/2024 14:39

No no no, Clarkson is an all round good guy. He wants to help, he has discovered a love of the land and Barbours and Nige. His days of ploughing up fields with stupidly big vehicles are all behind him.
