Nose piercing

TheWorstWeek · 28/10/2024 17:20

Is it daft of me, as a 35 year old mum of two, to want a nose piercing? I think dainty little nose rings look really lovely - on other people at least! Am I too old to be thinking of getting my first piercing since I did my ear lobes when I was 12?
Also, right or left nostril?

Loads of wildflowers, birds, roses, small things I love. Next time I want some of my favourite insects, some of them are just so gorgeous.

On legs, arms, back and wrist so far.

I've got an urge to have the beasts and bugs in really visible places just to watch what I believe Gen Z call "the Basics" have fits and faint on the pavement, or even vom into the gutter, when they see me.

Edited

Sounds gorgeous. I have nature tattoos too.

I'm going to be looking out for the basics fainting in public😂

Of course it's attractive. I love piercings on other women, and some of the tattoos women (particularly younger women) have these days are just amazing!!!

Some of us think of it all as art. And beautiful art at that.

Of course it's attractive TO YOU.
Other opinions do exist you know.
Just because you like it doesn't mean to say every one does.
It's actually quite a marmite thing: either people really like it or they really dislike it. I obviously find it extremely distasteful.
I acknowledge your right to think otherwise. But it's apparent from pp on this thread they don't accord other people the right to deviate from their viewpoint.

I already knew that he didn't mind either way. Even if he wasn't hugely keen there's no way he'd tell me not to get it.

Oh don't talk bollocks. You've tried it on with the faux innocence and been found out over and over on this thread. Loads of people don't like tattoos and piercings. Which is fine. You just enjoy being goady and using provocative words to describe your "not liking".

"Extremely distasteful" is a bit, erm... extreme.

Well obviously they do it because they want it!!!
My question is why? It's not as if it's attractive.
I've always assumed it's a statement against the norms of societal norms of attractiveness. But I still don't understand why making such a statement is worth desecrating your body.
Same as tattoos actually: just why desecrate your body in that way?

Edited

Do you feel this way about earrings as well? If not, have you had a think about why one type of piercing is seen as standard and no one questions it and another rather similar one is seen as more transgressive? There's really no logic behind it.

A little hoop or stud on a nostril is hardly a big deal.

Awh I bet they look amazing. I have a real mash up sleeve. Wildlife, things that mean a lot to me etc. Then I have others dotted around. I want a snake to finish off the sleeve on my forearm and then I want a big project piece

You said" of course it's attractive " - referring to body piercings. That is total nonsense because attractiveness is totally in the eye of the beholder. What is attractive to you is not necessarily attractive to other people. You can't speak for other people.
I don't find body piercing or tattoos attractive. But I'm speaking for myself. I don't profess to speak for anyone else..
So please explain this " faux innocence " and how I've been "found out". I'm genuinely intrigued as to what you are talking about.

Same! When I had my groot (which my dc chose for me) I thought about the mn responses if I started a thread about it 🤣

What's a groot? Sounds painful!

My dp asks to look at new tattoos once I've had them. 'Let me see then' when I get back. Why would I ask him before hand when I know it's something I want?

Also, right or left nostril?

I had mine done last December, just before my 38th birthday.
Mine is on the left as my lip piercing is on the right and I wanted opposite sides.

Go for it! Your age shouldn't stop you looking the way you want to look.

Probably a bad time to tell you I'd like to get a tattoo too...

Nose pierced at 44, first tattoo at 45… do both!

I have a supportive wet wipe husband too. It’s a hard life
