Nose piercing

TheWorstWeek · 28/10/2024 17:20

Is it daft of me, as a 35 year old mum of two, to want a nose piercing? I think dainty little nose rings look really lovely - on other people at least! Am I too old to be thinking of getting my first piercing since I did my ear lobes when I was 12?
Also, right or left nostril?

I have to roll my eyes to comments on these sort of threads when people have a 'physical reaction' to seeing someone with a tattoo. It really isn't that deep

How do they cope in public with all the tattooed people? They must have to carry sick bags everywhere😂

ChaosHol1 · 28/10/2024 19:13

Do it, got mine done at 38, its just a little diamond stud and I love it.

Kitkatcatflap · 28/10/2024 19:15

No - it looks awful

'I think' it looks awful.

Fixed it for you

"It's not as if it's attractive" is a statement, not an opinion.

Stating that to someone who clearly finds it attractive in their opinion, makes me embarrassed for you.

Mind you, having to explain this in the first place is also making me cringe.

I'll let you work out 'wide-eyes' yourself.

It's not attractive TO Me.
Does that make it better? I didn't realise this was pedant's corner.
I don't understand why me saying I don't find it attractive is embarrassing to you. Do you live in a world where nobody says anything truthful to each other? I certainly, if I met OP in real life, would not be unpleasant enough to outright voice an opinion that would upset her. But this is an Internet forum designed with the express objective of allowing people to express their opinion. But for some reason you are taking great exception to me expressing mine.
What is it you are cringing about? And I still dont understand the "wide eyes" comment. I remember the Amen corner hit single " wide eyed and legless" from the year dot. That's going through my mind atm.. But I don't know if I fully understood that song either. Perhaps I'm still naive.

SoporificLettuce · 28/10/2024 19:18

You do you, OP.

I personally don’t like them so I don’t have one.

If you were 90 and wanted one you still wouldn't be too old.

If you want one get one, I don't see what your age has to do with it!

I fancied one in my late forties, got it, and have loved it ever since.

Wide eyes = faux innocence.

Hth.

K0OLA1D · 28/10/2024 19:21

Erm... me?

BellaCriesAndThatsAlright · 28/10/2024 19:21

What a twat

murasaki · 28/10/2024 19:22

What a ridiculous thing to say.

TheWorstWeek · 28/10/2024 19:24

I wasn't really asking for opinions on the actual piercings but whether it was a silly idea to get on in my mid thirties after only ever piercing my lobes once as a pre-teen. Turns out plenty of you think age doesn't matter at all!

I think women with nose piercings look amazing -and hot! It would be nice to join that club! Ha!

Got my left nostril done at 45.

And 12 ear piercings since!

I'm so jealous. I've tried all sorts of piercings in my ears and none of them, bar two very standard lobe piercings, ever healed properly. I did all the right things, but seems like my ears are just too gristly and sensitive for anything other than basic piercings.

I just get more tattoos as compensation!!! 😂

Hth.

Thanks yes.
Although I'm ashamed to say I had to look up what Hth meant.
I am struggling to see how faux innocence relates to any of my posts. I'm quilte a straight forward person who tries to be truthful without being hurtful. And I'm really annoyed that saying I don't like piercings or tattoos - a purely personal opinion- has elicited the response from certain pp that I have no right to voice that opinion.

Where and what tattoos? (Nosey)

I really want a chest peice next, but I don't know what and I aren't sure how it would feel/heal

In considering a chest piece next. Currently healing my upper arm. Love hearing about tattoos.

Alwayssomethingtheretoremindme · 28/10/2024 17:46

Well obviously they do it because they want it!!!
My question is why? It's not as if it's attractive.
I've always assumed it's a statement against the norms of societal norms of attractiveness. But I still don't understand why making such a statement is worth desecrating your body.
Same as tattoos actually: just why desecrate your body in that way?

Edited

Of course it's attractive. I love piercings on other women, and some of the tattoos women (particularly younger women) have these days are just amazing!!!

Some of us think of it all as art. And beautiful art at that.

Age doesn't really come into it. It will look the same whether you had it done twenty years ago or tomorrow.

I'm currently healing the back of my upper arm!

The bruising this time was insane! I had mine done last Monday so the itch is real over the past couple of days

Loads of wildflowers, birds, roses, small things I love. Next time I want some of my favourite insects, some of them are just so gorgeous.

On legs, arms, back and wrist so far.

I've got an urge to have the beasts and bugs in really visible places just to watch what I believe Gen Z call "the Basics" have fits and faint on the pavement, or even vom into the gutter, when they see me.

You haven't "just said" you don't like tattoos and piercings, though, have you.

ShaunaSadeki · 28/10/2024 19:35

I had mine done at 42 and love it. But if you wear a wedding ring be careful with the left side as I caught the stud in my wedding ring multiple times, meaning that it took an age to heal so that I could swap it for for a ring, now it has and I have the ring I love it and no more issues.

But, maybe I am just incredibly clumsy!

If this is directed at me, yes I do. DH and I have been together for almost twenty years and as with anything I want to do in regards to my body it's entirely my decision.
