Just that.

Not a single supermarket near me has any, Tescos said out for 3 weeks in every branch for 50 miles and no expected in date.

Really fancied some for lunch 🤨

Who had eaten it all?

Not me 😉

MrsSkylerWhite · 27/10/2024 12:16

Morrisons and Lidl stock it local to us.

boulevardofbrokendreamss · 27/10/2024 12:16

Vile stuff, so not me!

PinkBlouse · 27/10/2024 12:16

Hummus has muscled in on its territory and banished it?

Leeds2 · 27/10/2024 12:17

I had noticed the exact same thing. I hadn't realised it was a "thing" though, just thought it was Sainsbury's inept ordering!

Parry5timesbeforedeath · 27/10/2024 12:18

There is a you tuber i love from the US. She comes to the UK for 4 weeks a year and loves taramasalata. I think she ate it all.

BobbyBiscuits · 27/10/2024 12:18

I really like tarama. If you have a Turkish/middle eastern corner shop they nearly always have it there.
Or if your really desperate could you order some from a local greek restaurant?
Hope you find some!

Moonshiners · 27/10/2024 12:20

Weirdly I don't think I've eaten this since the 80s!

Oh yes maybe.

About 7 varieties of this all over the shelves.

But I really had a taramasalata itch ☹️

Oh no.

I did M&S, Tesco's and Sains.

The shelves were bare.

I wonder where Taramasalata HQ is and what is going on 🤔

This sounds the most likely.

Don’t know where it’s gone, BUT… my mum did once find a fingernail in a tub. It really put her off the stuff! Perhaps she managed to tell sufficient numbers of people to cause a drop in UK wide demand.

dramalamma · 27/10/2024 12:29

We got some in asda this week - totally agree it's disappeared recently

takealettermsjones · 27/10/2024 12:29

Down the drain and straight to hell? 🤢

dudsville · 27/10/2024 12:30

I have always avoided it under the belief that food should not be pink. As a result of your thread I just googled it. I had no idea it was made from roe, urgh!

Hope you find some soon!

interested in your no pink food policy. Do you make an exception for fruit (strawberries, watermelon, grapefruit etc) or are you zero tolerance in all cases?

Thunderpants88 · 27/10/2024 12:36

I have no idea what this is

Bigroy · 27/10/2024 12:42

I've been to 4 different supermarkets looking for it this week and it's out of stock everywhere 😭

Parry5timesbeforedeath · 27/10/2024 12:43

There is a great recipe on bbc good food. But i am an unfamiliar ipad and can,t figure out how to link.

KnittedCardi · 27/10/2024 12:43

Waitrose has it 😁

Love it, but it does give me indigestion in my aged years. It was one of my favourite things as a child, weird eh?

NeverDropYourMooncup · 27/10/2024 12:44

Turkish shop or kebab shop. They'll have Meze or Sysco Tarama in (literal) buckets.

KnittedCardi · 27/10/2024 12:44

Also on offer, 2 for £2.50 yummy.

LauderSyme · 27/10/2024 12:46

I love taramasalata! Although I lived in Greece for a few years and it's striking how different authentic Greek taramasalata is from the pink, salty gloop we can buy in the UK. I suppose that's an issue with a lot of global foodstuffs, though.

I use to eat it weekly but haven't tried to buy it lately as I realised it is very much not a healthy option! But yes when you fancy it, it really hits the spot. I think Waitrose sell smoked salmon taramasalata as well as the usual recipe and it's gorgeous.

cout · 27/10/2024 12:48

The best ever tarmasalata in the uk is found in Waitrose. It's delicious
