Pizza Hut Buffet

IAKnowyou · 14/10/2024 17:46

Posting here to hopefully get some quick answers.

So I will be going to Pizza Hut for the buffet, at the weekend with my child for one of her friend's parties.
There's a few of us going, and I've had a look online and at weekends it is 15.99 per adult and 10.99 for children !
I am absolutely not going to eat 15.99 worth of pizza! And I doubt my child will eat £11 worth.
Would I be unreasonable to just pay for my child and maybe have a slice of pizza or 2?
I know they charge different per head to stop this. But how do they police this ??
It's not a huge deal, but I would definitely like to know before I go, and like to know if other people do this or not ?
Thanks !

anyone remember these ads before a film?

😂😂😂

Close the thread here.

Healingsfall · 14/10/2024 22:14

Why did they show that ad before a film? 😅

GoldCat255 · 14/10/2024 22:14

Leech much?

OP, I'd like to personally thank you for this thread this evening; it was unexpectedly entertaining. It has also inspired me to dine at my local Pizza Hut restaurant this weekend, where I shall be partaking in the buffet (and paying, obviously, just in case there was any doubt about that aspect of things...) 🍕😁

anyone who has been here a while will remember back in yonder days there used to be talk of a 'MN scarf' and/or 'MN haircut' which, together with a sage reference to 'pombears' or a perfectly elongated 'naiiiice' as a descriptor (ideally of ham but other foodstuffs or indeed nouns are acceptable) worked as a means of identifying other MN-ers in the wild

the 2024 version will consist of slightly knackered 40 year olds in sensible footwear sidling up to one another at a chain restaurant with a wink of recognition and murmuring 'tell me - have you paid for your buffet?'

What an entertaining thread. Personally can’t imagine getting even a little bit worked up over the idea of an absolutely enormous corporation possibly losing out on £15 due to ops’ dastardly criminal plan of pizza sharing, but as we can see, there’s all sorts of people in the world!

Because it’s not about £15 - it’s about the general attitude. Shoplifting, for example, has soared in recent years, and is a major factor in high street chains putting up their prices and closing stores. Then you will have thread after thread on here talking about how “Our high street is like a ghost town now 😞”.

Of course Pizza Hut isn’t going to go under if OP sneaks a few slices from her daughter’s plate. But if everyone has the attitude of “Why should I pay when they can afford it?”, prices go up to cover theft - and then everyone moans it’s too expensive to eat out!

I think you've just revealed your youth 😁
the original
referred to pirated films but it's since become a bit of a meme to replace 'film' with various ridiculous things

andthat · 14/10/2024 22:24

IAKnowyou · 14/10/2024 17:50

Well that's rude 🤣 I can definitely afford to go, otherwise I wouldn't be going..
it's not embarrassing either. All I'd eat is a slice or 2 of pizza, and I don't think £15.99 is justifiable for that amount. But about say 5/6 slices between us is definitely more so the £11 mark.
How do they police this ? Do they have a staff member to watch each table ?? 😆

Wow. if you can afford to pay, then pay.

What you’re suggesting is theft. You don’t get to decide that you don’t want to pay their prices, but want to eat it anyway. Are you for real?

As for asking if staff members police the tables… where the hell is your moral compass?! What exactly are you role modelling to your child with that bullshit?

Just share a pizza!

aurorabora24 · 14/10/2024 22:25

Stealing from Pizza Hut, I'm creasing!!!!

I know I'm about to be lynched here and I know you'll all be soooooo embarrassed for me but once I actually took some pizza away in a Tupperware for dh who was at home.

Bring back the gallows!

KittyPup · 14/10/2024 17:48

No you can’t pay for a child and then eat a few slices of their pizza. You clearly can’t afford to eat out. Don’t embarrass yourself as you’ll get caught out. Take them to McDonalds for a happy meal instead.

Its for a friend's birthday party. She can't force the friend to have the party in McDonalds. How ridiculous

BernardBlacksBreakfastWine · 14/10/2024 22:26

Blimey, this thread is bonkers.

I totally get that you have to pay for each person at the buffet - them’s the rules.

BUT!!! Why, oh why, are so many posters so outraged?! Why are they such staunch defenders of Pizza Hut? Seriously. Pizza Hut isn’t charging what it costs. They’re charging what they can get away with - hence the 50% rise at the weekend (or does pizza cost more to make on a Saturday 🤔).

Why is everyone suddenly so concerned about PH profits? Answer: it’s an opportunity to berate on OP and technically be in the right!! What fun.

babyproblems · 14/10/2024 22:29

Sorry but I’d be mortified if one of my group did this! It’s Pizza Hut not the ivy. Please don’t sneak some pieces off your kid’s plate.. just buy a pizza and eat it together! Presumably if it’s a birthday party your daughter’s meal would be paid for or included if it’s an invited group thing!?

@SpiggingBelgium has already answered this very clearly.

Absolutely this.

So many parents on here without morals or ethics who believe that rules and laws should only apply to other people.

And too much 'It's a corporation, so it's totally okay to steal from them.'

Mumsnet?

Well the OP decided NOT to do it several pages back, so PH is safe for now. The other 47 pages were dedicated to...actually, I'm not sure what it was really. But it's over now Grin

The people on this thread are made acting as if op eating two slices of pizza is going to bankrupt pizza hut (who throw away all that stuff at the end of the day anyway!).

The staff are not paid enough to care. The pizza hut police are not going to come rushing over and publicially tear down and shame op in front of the entire restaurant then have one of their pizza bouncers escort her and her child from the premises. They will be lazy teenagers who don't give two shits what you do, in fact they will probably just be grateful you aren't leaving crap everywhere they have to clean up.

Sort of related. But I once got in an actual punch up with a man who was trying to adbuct my ex boyfriends little brother in pizza hut, (big age gap we were early 20s the brother was 5 or 6) and the pizza hut staff didn't even intervene then, so I highly doubt they they will even notice or remember if op is eating or has paid.

Clearly, OP's depravity knows no bounds and Pizza Huts across the country have been placed on high alert as a result of her even contemplating this most egregious of crimes.

Edited

The same could be said about shoplifting. It is still stealing.

It won’t bankrupt Pizza Hut because the majority of people do pay. It does drive up prices though and makes it more expensive for those who do pay.

What do you mean why am I going to the party.. I'm taking my child to a small party of her friends ?

The party girls parents wouldn't expect you to stay. That's normally what happens?

Skibideetoilet · 14/10/2024 22:52

omg that advert is a blast from the past 🤣 I remember the IT crowd did a parody of it in one episode

ThatRareUmberJoker · 14/10/2024 22:58

After reading all your posts I think you are over thinking it. Do what you have to do and feel no shame about it she's 5 how much can she fit in her tiny tummy. Pizza hut prices are jaw dropping and it doesn't cost them a lot to make it.

Hyperbowl · 14/10/2024 23:04

OP, you are charged with being a common garden thief and actual bodily harm by shaming people inside out, upside down and every which way you can think of! May the second hand embarrassment from complete strangers on the internet who wouldn’t even know you if they passed you in the street weigh heavily on your soul. That told you didn’t it. Hope your daughter enjoys the party.🥳 🍕
