Pizza Hut Buffet

Posting here to hopefully get some quick answers.

So I will be going to Pizza Hut for the buffet, at the weekend with my child for one of her friend's parties.
There's a few of us going, and I've had a look online and at weekends it is 15.99 per adult and 10.99 for children !
I am absolutely not going to eat 15.99 worth of pizza! And I doubt my child will eat £11 worth.
Would I be unreasonable to just pay for my child and maybe have a slice of pizza or 2?
I know they charge different per head to stop this. But how do they police this ??
It's not a huge deal, but I would definitely like to know before I go, and like to know if other people do this or not ?
Thanks !

'it's not embarrassing either'

It really is. I feel embarrassed for you.

It's a business - just pay for your own food
or don't eat. Simple.

I mean it's really not embarrassing at all is it. What exactly are you embarrassed about ?

@Itsmeamandaberry oh how awful for you to think of another person asking a harmless question.
I could never be friends with someone as judgemental as YOU.

😂😂 I'm not the one going to steal pizza or eat my child crusts because I'm beyond tight. Of course your friends are going to judge you.

makemeanoffericantrefuse · 14/10/2024 17:58

That you would steal pizza from your child at a children's party.
Super embarrassing.

IAKnowyou · 14/10/2024 17:59

@Justanotherteacher she really won't care considering she's only going to have a couple slices of margherita or pepperoni pizza

The last time I took my goddaughter and her friends they charged for every person at the table: they know perfectly well that plenty of people would pretend they weren’t going to be eating anything and then help themselves from their friends’ plates instead. So if you don’t order the buffet, except them to require you to order something else.

They make their money from the people who don’t eat much, which balances out e.g. big groups of adult men who stuff their faces, or people who waste a lot of food. That’s how AYCE buffet pricing works.

Why are you going to the party and are the parents not paying for the children?

No you can't do what you suggest.

This

It's not their birthday party unless they are hosting/paying. Are you sure it's not paid for?

It's odd to me otherwise.

What do you mean why am I going to the party.. I'm taking my child to a small party of her friends ?

The kids meal was less than that when I went £7.99 unless you want salad and drink and ice cream then it's more

Healingsfall · 14/10/2024 18:01

Could you just buy the buffet food then take home slices you don't eat? That way you might not feel so ripped off?

This offer is currently running @IAKnowyou
but you do have to spend £10 to get it.

Same experience here, unless you'd ordered your own meal off the menu instead. The rest were charged buffet prices.

Not Pizza Hut but many years ago I was reprimanded at a buffet restaurant for feeding my 20 month old a few chips from my plate! So no I definitely wouldn’t do this as an adult! Especially not when other parents are there to
witness your embarrassment if staff called you out on it!

As an aside, do the party guests have to pay for their own food? I’ve never had to pay for my 3 DC to eat at any birthday parties they have attended.

IAKnowyou · 14/10/2024 18:02

@Itsmeamandaberry I said nothing about crusts for gods sake ! The other people going have also exclaimed at the weekend prices ! But we are going there as that's where the kids have chosen !

LushLemonTart · 14/10/2024 18:03

If you can afford it just pay. Or as others suggested buy a pizza and take home any not eaten.

IAKnowyou · 14/10/2024 18:03

@Willyoujustbequiet yes not paid for. We are all paying for ourselves as otherwise it would be unaffordable for the birthday girls parent

It's 7.99 on weekdays but there's a price jump for weekends

That's ridiculous. Enough to put you off going.

Well that's rude 🤣 I can definitely afford to go, otherwise I wouldn't be going..
it's not embarrassing either. All I'd eat is a slice or 2 of pizza, and I don't think £15.99 is justifiable for that amount. But about say 5/6 slices between us is definitely more so the £11 mark.
How do they police this ? Do they have a staff member to watch each table ?? 😆

If you choose to purchase goods or services, you have to pay the amount the purveyor requires, not the amount you think justifiable. Which is a great pity when you think of it. Because I can only justify spending a £1000 tops on my holiday, and I really fancy a month 5 star in the Seychelles.

I have a feeling if I'm being attacked enough for asking a question like this.. that someone will be sure to tell me it's absolutely not acceptable to take home buffet food 😆

ohsobroody · 14/10/2024 18:05

I mean.... it is stealing lol so don't know why you're mad at someone for saying that.

But round here they do the same as PP and if you don't offer they default to charging buffet price!! Get £15 pizza and bring home leftovers if you only have a little appetite

Cherry8809 · 14/10/2024 18:05

Just pay the £15, jeez.

Lonelycrab · 14/10/2024 18:05

Hmmm I don’t half fancy a Pizza Hut buffet now…

ohsobroody · 14/10/2024 18:05

I genuinely doubt they will give leftover boxes to people doing the buffet!

We are all paying for ourselves and our own children, it's only a small get together thing rather than an official multi - child party

I have second hand embarrassment for you, and I won’t even be there.

First of all, you’re proposing to steal from Pizza Hut. It’s not pay for what you eat, it’s pay the price they suggest for the right to eat as much as you want - whether that’s one slice or 100 slices. If you don’t want to partake, don’t pay. If you do want to eat what you want (ie 2 slices) then pay.

Otherwise order a pizza and share. But you can easily spend £26 on a Pizza Hut pizza and sides - it’s not cheap!
