Pizza Hut Buffet

IAKnowyou · 14/10/2024 17:46

Posting here to hopefully get some quick answers.

So I will be going to Pizza Hut for the buffet, at the weekend with my child for one of her friend's parties.
There's a few of us going, and I've had a look online and at weekends it is 15.99 per adult and 10.99 for children !
I am absolutely not going to eat 15.99 worth of pizza! And I doubt my child will eat £11 worth.
Would I be unreasonable to just pay for my child and maybe have a slice of pizza or 2?
I know they charge different per head to stop this. But how do they police this ??
It's not a huge deal, but I would definitely like to know before I go, and like to know if other people do this or not ?
Thanks !

OP, you are charged with being a common garden thief and actual bodily harm by shaming people inside out, upside down and every which way you can think of! May the second hand embarrassment from complete strangers on the internet who wouldn’t even know you if they passed you in the street weigh heavily on your soul. That told you didn’t it. Hope your daughter enjoys the party.🥳 🍕

I will accept my crime and do the due time 🫡
This thread has been great.. maybe I will be back tomorrow, or after I've stolen my pizza to update you all 🤭

@ThatRareUmberJoker but it's not a regular party. We are somewhat friends, so are our children, there's only a couple of us. We are paying for ourselves and our children

Its for a friend's birthday party. She can't force the friend to have the party in McDonalds. How ridiculous

No but if she can’t afford the party then she can decline and take her dd to McDonald’s as a treat. That way the child still gets to eat out and the mum doesn’t overstretch herself.

Picture or it didn’t happen, you know the rules. 🤣

You won't be back tomorrow OP, you'll be starting a life sentence for crimes against pizza. May god have mercy on your soul.

@IAKnowyou if you only pay for your child and you then eat that absolutely would be stealing pizza.
Why can't you see that?

Bjorkdidit · 15/10/2024 03:35

OP stop begrudging spending money on yourself. What's that all about?

I'd be grudging someone inviting you to a party and not paying for the food.

I'd also be grudging their choice of a venue that's only worth it if you enjoy stuffing yourself with mediocre pizza.

@SpiggingBelgium has already answered this very clearly.

''Because it’s not about £15 - it’s about the general attitude. Shoplifting, for example, has soared in recent years, and is a major factor in high street chains putting up their prices and closing stores. Then you will have thread after thread on here talking about how “Our high street is like a ghost town now 😞”.

Of course Pizza Hut isn’t going to go under if OP sneaks a few slices from her daughter’s plate. But if everyone has the attitude of “Why should I pay when they can afford it?”, prices go up to cover theft - and then everyone moans it’s too expensive to eat out!''

Absolutely this.

Oh for goodness sake. Prices are not going to go up over this or anything like this.

Stop pretending you are concerned about PH’s viability and admit you love a good pile-on! The opportunity to tell someone they can’t afford something and that they’re scummy! It’s a gift!

liveforsummer · 15/10/2024 07:19

When mine were very small I'd pay for an adult and give dc a bit off my plate (checked with staff first) I don't see what age your dd is? That's a bit more acceptable but only really if 3 or under. It's a restaurant after all. It's normal for all parties to order something when going for a sit down table service meal! Were you aware the buffet is a lot more than just pizza? There is also pastas and a wide range of salad. You also don't have to order the buffet. Sounds like you are both small eaters so why not just order a small pizza to share from the main menu. Of course you can't just take slices off dd. If the staff member that serves you walks past and sees you eating they are going to charge you anyway (and probably tell all the other staff what a CF you are)

liveforsummer · 15/10/2024 07:37

You've actually just reminded me about Pizza Hut buffet and thought I'd take dc with week but even the weekday one is 17.99 at my local restaurants (for adults, I'd order my own 😅). Weekend for adults is 21.99 and 11.99 for kids. Better off going to Cosmo!

Of course prices will go up if the pizza is being eaten but they don’t get paid for it. They need to be able to cover their costs and make a profit.
you might not care about Pizza Hut as it’s a big company but I imagine their employees do who rely on their wage, the suppliers etc.

@Bjorkdidit

i don’t get the impression she begrudges spending money on herself, just that she won’t eat nearly enough pizza to justify 15£…most of us wouldn’t to be fair! It’s a LOT

Who is paying that money for absolutely dire pizza?

Our local pizza parlour does gorgeous wood fired pizzas from £10-15. You couldn't eat more than one pizza per person anyway, and they're amazing.

And how much do you think a pizza on its own will cost?

This makes me wonder if I'd have worded the post differently, would I have gotten a different response.

I could have said, (the general gist of the post) I am planning to pay £15.99 for myself, but as neither me or my daughter will eat much, I was thinking of having her share some of mine from my plate. A slice or 2.
Would that be as awful of me? Worded that way? Would she then be thieving from Pizza Hut ?

Yes it would still be stealing if both of you eat buffet food but you only pay for one. The buffet is priced per person. It is not priced in proportion to how much you are going to eat.

I don't understand why this conversation is still happening. You posted pages and pages ago that you agreed it would be a good idea to just order a pizza to share from the main menu and not touch the buffet.

vickylou78 · 15/10/2024 09:33

Yes would be exactly the same if you paid and she had some of yours. Just buy something off the menu and don't get the buffet!!

dreamer24 · 15/10/2024 09:40

Morning OP, I see you came back for more 🤣😁

I literally dreamt about pizza last night 😋🍕😋

Imagine one's character and integrity being worth less than £15.

Best thing to do would be to ask the staff. I've certainly done so in the past and it's been ok but at age 5 and in a group you'd probably be pushing it as then they'd have to allow all the DC to have free food! In my case I was going with say a 2 and 5 year old. Paying for me and 5 year old and asking if ok for toddler to have a bit of mine.

Oh, so PH will be forced to put up prices if a woman and small child pay £15 for about 5 slices of pizza? Really?! PH may well put up their prices if they think they can get people to pay it, but that’s their choice.

Look, I get there are rules around a buffet. But people like the OP don’t cost PH any money at all. The net result is money in PH’s pocket even if they pay just one buffet price because they’re not going to eat much.

But you knew this. It’s all about the absolute joy of finding the OP wrong!

Yes one person doing it won’t make an impact but multiple does and where do you draw the line. Why is it ok for op versus other people.
