Pizza Hut Buffet

IAKnowyou · 14/10/2024 17:46

Posting here to hopefully get some quick answers.

So I will be going to Pizza Hut for the buffet, at the weekend with my child for one of her friend's parties.
There's a few of us going, and I've had a look online and at weekends it is 15.99 per adult and 10.99 for children !
I am absolutely not going to eat 15.99 worth of pizza! And I doubt my child will eat £11 worth.
Would I be unreasonable to just pay for my child and maybe have a slice of pizza or 2?
I know they charge different per head to stop this. But how do they police this ??
It's not a huge deal, but I would definitely like to know before I go, and like to know if other people do this or not ?
Thanks !

@zeitweilig I am once again (awkwardly) asking you to leave. Or are you having too much fun 🫣

Still waiting for you to explain why it's not stealing.

SpiggingBelgium · 14/10/2024 20:43

There is no allocation. The whole point of all you can eat is that the amount is unlimited. You pay for being able to take what you want with no restrictions; you don’t get an allocation to share out as you choose.

All you can eat works as a business model because for everyone who eats a lot of food, there will be at least as many, if not more, who don’t get full value out of it. They are selling the option to have as much as you want - not £16 worth of food that they will portion out, and which you can then share if you like.

This. OP, does the buffet system make sense to you now? You seemed to think there was some sort of allocated buffet portion, hence why you didnt realise it was stealing, but that's obviously not the case.

dreamer24 · 14/10/2024 20:49

@SpiggingBelgium

No, eating your child’s leftovers after your own meal that you’ve paid for is not stealing. Avoiding paying by eating off your child’s plate is. Simple enough for you?

Woah no need to be so snarky with me, I was only clarifying the question I asked in the first place.

Simple enough for you?

🙄

NiftyKoala · 14/10/2024 20:50

Why not just call Pizza Hut and ask if this would be ok.

Maybe she genuinely didn't understand. However, so many posters have explained it to her now, you'd think she'd get it.

Nah, she's opting for (awkward) banter with anyone who she thinks agrees with her.....sisterhood and that sort of thing....

IAKnowyou · 14/10/2024 20:52

@surreygirl1987 no I didn't think there was an allocated buffet portion.
I just think I'm entitled to a slice or 2 of pizza that I've paid for. Yes I know I've not paid for 2 heard ( me and child) but I don't see it as an issue to have slice of pizza.

Maybe I am entitled/ morally wrong/ or whatever else, but that's just my opinion. And now know it is NOT a popular one !

Well that's rude 🤣 I can definitely afford to go, otherwise I wouldn't be going..
it's not embarrassing either. All I'd eat is a slice or 2 of pizza, and I don't think £15.99 is justifiable for that amount. But about say 5/6 slices between us is definitely more so the £11 mark.
How do they police this ? Do they have a staff member to watch each table ?? 😆

Sorry, but the restaurant (not the patrons!) get to set the prices. You just can't decide it's not worth it, and therefore you will steal from them.

If you don't like the terms, don't go. No one is forced to patronize Pizza Hut.

That's a good option. They'd probably say no it's not okay. But on the off chance it was okay.. I'd get to update this thread 😂

Because you were very supercilious about your question “as yet not being answered to my satisfaction”. You’re on Mumsnet, not interviewing people under caution.

When you don't order anything for yourself it will be pretty obvious

You have paid for your daughter to access the pizza buffet at the set child price.
You have not paid for yourself to access the pizza buffet at the set adult price.

Fucking hell it was tongue in cheek🙄
But thanks for clarifying I am not interviewing anyone under caution because, you know, that was an easy mistake to make ...... 🤦🏼‍♀️

But... you haven't paid to eat the pizza. This is where you are just missing the point. You've paid for your DAUGHTER to eat it. You are completely wrong to think you're entitled to it.

IAKnowyou · 14/10/2024 20:55

@Ufcears but that doesn't quite make sense does it ?
Because firstly you're explaining the overall intention, and they say yes.
But then you say you're not ordering any food .. which you already have (paid for 1 child) and they say no...?

They're not going to say it's ok to only pay for a child but have an adult and a child eat. Feel free to ask this on their SM though.

Woahtherehoney · 14/10/2024 20:58

Omg OP I’m so sorry for people on here - some of the responses have been insane. Calling you all sorts of names for wanting 2 slices of pizza 🤣🤣 people need to lighten up a bit, blimey.

Plainer · 14/10/2024 20:58

zeitweilig · 14/10/2024 20:48

3 or 4 posters are joining in.
Everyone else is aware of what OP is doing.
As OP said, (awkward).

And around the same number (there could be one or five sock puppets, but let's be trusting people) are all muttering 'awkward' at each other and bickering pointlessly. What is the OP 'doing'? Posting on her own thread? It's hardly sinister behaviour that needs calling out. You've said awkward about 15 times now, and I still cannot even see what's so 'awkward.'

I've lost track of why you sound so angry about the whole thing.

"Everyone else" indeed 😂

Ok mate 🤣🤣 "called out" 🤦🏼‍♀️🤣🤣

You clearly missed the numerous occasions previously on this thread where another poster answered I asked the same question and it remained unanswered. It was an obvious continuation of that. But yes - I'm just enjoying the pretence of interviewing mumsnetters under caution because I'm a total sad fucker with no life 👍🏻🤣
