Pizza Hut Buffet

Posting here to hopefully get some quick answers.

So I will be going to Pizza Hut for the buffet, at the weekend with my child for one of her friend's parties.
There's a few of us going, and I've had a look online and at weekends it is 15.99 per adult and 10.99 for children !
I am absolutely not going to eat 15.99 worth of pizza! And I doubt my child will eat £11 worth.
Would I be unreasonable to just pay for my child and maybe have a slice of pizza or 2?
I know they charge different per head to stop this. But how do they police this ??
It's not a huge deal, but I would definitely like to know before I go, and like to know if other people do this or not ?
Thanks !

The buffet has a decent salad bar but the pizza is pretty terrible, mostly thick, soggy bread base and hardly any toppings. I went last year for the first time in donkey's years and it was terrible. They were REALLY slow at bringing out fresh pizzas. Most of the time there was only a margarita or a vegetarian one available, dried up and luke warm. When they eventually brought a pepperoni or meat pizza out it was gone in a flash, then no more appeared for ages.

If everyone else is having the buffet then let your DD have the buffet. It will be weird for her to order separately. You can just order a small pizza for yourself from the menu. It will be a better pizza, but you won't have any salad and you'll probably only save yourself about 5 quid anyway because you'll have to order a separate drink.

@zeitweilig who have I insulted, besides calling you a fun sponge ...?
It's nice to have a bit of banter. I didn't expect to be shot down for asking if I'd be thrown out for having a slice or 2 of pizza 😂
Now I know how awfully unreasonable I have been to think this, I am having a laugh.

Sure.
Just stop.

@Differentstarts again, you don't have to join in if you do not wish.
If you've given your view, and now are not enjoying the thread, feel free to leave it and find one that takes your fancy. I won't hold you hostage. (Awkward)

Yes. It does make me wonder why people declare threads cringey / embarrassing and yet... remain on them to announce this? Surely just ... leave? 🤷‍♀️

@Ufcears

yeah I think Op ordering a pizza for her and her daughter to share is the best option.

IAKnowyou · 14/10/2024 20:43

@zeitweilig you can go if you like. You've added way more than needed, especially if you're not enjoying it anymore.

It isn't stealing. With buffets you get some people that go crazy and stuff their faces. OP and daughter clearly aren't like this and will only be eating a small amount. What is the harm in her having a slice or 2 of pizza which could be included in her daughter's allocation?

There is no allocation. The whole point of all you can eat is that the amount is unlimited. You pay for being able to take what you want with no restrictions; you don’t get an allocation to share out as you choose.

All you can eat works as a business model because for everyone who eats a lot of food, there will be at least as many, if not more, who don’t get full value out of it. They are selling the option to have as much as you want - not £16 worth of food that they will portion out, and which you can then share if you like.

@dreamer24 you'd think they would, but what gratification do they get from that 😄

Agree. The attempts at humour are awkward.

I don't know, the OP can fling out a good line and many other posters are finding it pretty funny.

Not me obv. This is an extremely serious matter and any humour is completely inappropriate.

Pizza Hut gestapo was well up there for pure cringe.

But more generally there's all the emojis and embarrassing attempts at 'banter'. A smiley face emoji is almost always a sure sign of a failed 'joke'.

It's actually just (awkward).

@zeitweilig I am once again (awkwardly) asking you to leave. Or are you having too much fun 🫣

Pizza Hut is minging anyway so you’ll probably be disappointed whatever you spend 🤷‍♀️

IAKnowyou · 14/10/2024 20:39

@surreygirl1987 maybe awkward to you. But you don't have to join in

With the humour? I'm absolutely not. I don't find stealing funny and I find it bizarre that the OP doesn't recognise her suggestion as stealing.

SleepToad · 14/10/2024 20:46

Getting back to the original post. I'm guessing you don't buy pizza normally when you eat out. Even spoons charge £9 for a 12" pizza, so £ 15.99 isn't such a huge amount for an average pizza.
Eating out sucks since covid. 4 of us for lunch. Pub classic food think fish and chips, 3 soft drinks, 1 beer, 4 coffees 2 mini deserts and 2 bread and butter puds £130!

She can fling out a good line? Really? Must have missed that!

SpiggingBelgium · 14/10/2024 20:47

dreamer24 · 14/10/2024 20:37

Yes. I am aware that was the original question posed by the OP.

However, I posed my own related, and as yet unanswered to a satisfactory degree, question.

I would have thought it was obvious from what I posted, but just in case:

No, eating your child’s leftovers after your own meal that you’ve paid for is not stealing. Avoiding paying by eating off your child’s plate is. Simple enough for you?

IAKnowyou · 14/10/2024 20:47

@IcedPurple oh are you part of the no emoji squad ? There's a few of those on Mumsnet. Apparently it's the same level of childishness as having the odd sugar in your coffee..
Anyway, I don't think Pizza Hut gestapo is remotely cringe. You're entitled to that opinion though. I made myself laugh at least. And I'm sure a few others on here. Maybe not with that particular comment, but certainly with some others.

Asking her to leave? A public forum?
