Pizza Hut Buffet

IAKnowyou · 14/10/2024 17:46

Posting here to hopefully get some quick answers.

So I will be going to Pizza Hut for the buffet, at the weekend with my child for one of her friend's parties.
There's a few of us going, and I've had a look online and at weekends it is 15.99 per adult and 10.99 for children !
I am absolutely not going to eat 15.99 worth of pizza! And I doubt my child will eat £11 worth.
Would I be unreasonable to just pay for my child and maybe have a slice of pizza or 2?
I know they charge different per head to stop this. But how do they police this ??
It's not a huge deal, but I would definitely like to know before I go, and like to know if other people do this or not ?
Thanks !

I've read the replies. There's no answer to it (using a time machine to ensure portion control isn't the answer, the child has already taken more than 1 slice). Nobody will answer as they know that of course mum can have the leftover slice rather than it go in the bin but they won't admit it after being so uptight and self righteous 😂

Correct - it has not been answered. You can't answer a "what to do if..." scenario by suggesting the person goes back in time 🤦🏼‍♀️🤣 I'd assumed that was obvious. Alas. It is not.

@zeitweilig you must get embarrassed VERY easily. Again, not one thing to be embarrassed about. You just have no sense of humour.
A fun sponge if you will.

I think they'd box up pizza leftover if you order your own pizza but there is no way they will give a box for buffet items 🤣 those need to be consumed on the premises

You aren't aware of taking preventative action?

Are the other Mum’s planning to do the same or just you? It’s sounds incredibly tight and embarrassing if you are caught?

I'm not embarrassed.

The irony. That you would call anyone a funsponge when your going out for a meal and are planning on sitting their sipping on tap water why everyone else eats

@Ufcears
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Fuck me. Sorry, what? Because I have a small appetite I should "stay home" and never eat out? 🤣 Not even engaging with the fucking homeless shelter comment. Amazing. Just when you think mumsnet can't possibly get any fucking more bizarre 🤣🤣

HALLELUJAH!!! So now I only have to worry about the fine line of time..in which i can eat a slice or 2 of pizza.. and whether I have timed it correctly enough for it to equate to "waste saving" rather than thieving ?!

£15.99 doesn’t seem that much for pizza? It’s less than if you were ordering takeaway. Food costs have gone up.

PennyApril54 · 14/10/2024 20:18

What if other parents are paying but only having a slice or 2. They will likely feel it's a cheek that you are avoiding paying. I'd just pay on this occasion, try it out and if you don't feel it's good value don't go back

It really does doesn't it?
Yet OP is refusing to accept anyone else's opinion (despite asking for it) and throwing uncalled for insults out.

Yes - timing is critical here, it would seem 🤣

There's nothing wrong with buying a pizza to share and sharing it.
Completely different than OPs attempts to freeload by stealing from child's buffet portion.

Your last line did make me smile: "You may be with other people but why should the restaurant let you take up the space of a paying customer". 😆

I can see it now, a table of 6 comes in, only 5 are eating, the one not eating is with a child. The staff say "sorry, you can't sit here as you're not eating, go and wait outside". Meanwhile they seat random sue there instead because she's a paying customer. 😅

WimbyAce · 14/10/2024 20:19

I think you have the right idea actually, seems a rip off to pay for both of you. Reminds me when we used to go to carverys and the small used to just have some off our plates.

IAKnowyou · 14/10/2024 20:19

@Differentstarts you mean sitting there **
And no, I'm not planning on having a tap water. Might bring a coffee in a flask though.. or drink directly from the drink filling station spouts, water fountain style. Ice and all.

So stealing is the right idea?

Too right there's nothing wrong with it, however I've just been told to "stay home" and not eat out because I have a small appetite, and reminded that Pizza Hut is "not a homeless shelter". 🤣 Which is shame, as I was planning on taking my sleeping bag this weekend ......
