Pizza Hut Buffet

IAKnowyou · 14/10/2024 17:46

Posting here to hopefully get some quick answers.

So I will be going to Pizza Hut for the buffet, at the weekend with my child for one of her friend's parties.
There's a few of us going, and I've had a look online and at weekends it is 15.99 per adult and 10.99 for children !
I am absolutely not going to eat 15.99 worth of pizza! And I doubt my child will eat £11 worth.
Would I be unreasonable to just pay for my child and maybe have a slice of pizza or 2?
I know they charge different per head to stop this. But how do they police this ??
It's not a huge deal, but I would definitely like to know before I go, and like to know if other people do this or not ?
Thanks !

What???? You can't share a pizza?

Now I'm outraged. This is insane.

@Tink3rbell30 I think you'll be waiting a while for that answer 🤣

I do too 🤣

IAKnowyou · 14/10/2024 20:02

@Ufcears oh my goodness.. can you actually not go to a Pizza Hut as, say - a couple and buy one regular sized pizza between you ??
This gets worse and worse 🤣

Steal pizza ?? Jesus Christ 😂

But if everyone went and said oh I will just have a slice of pizza off my kids share, it's then into a couple of full size pizzas over the course of the day and therefore it's theft because your child is putting more on their plate so you can have a slice - its not like you are just eating the crusts. Just order a pizza between you and your child and be done with it or suck it up and pay for a buffet for you and your child or an individual pizza for you and a buffet for your child if she's desperate for the buffet.

Can’t believe how big this thread is.

I went to five guys the other week with my DD, the prices there are crazy, I wasn’t very thirsty so I had a few sips of my daughters (endless refill drink), does that make me a bad person? Five guys was dead and no one told me off 😬.

Pizza hut makes a fortune from their buffet…..I mean how many 5 year olds are going to eat £10’s worth of pizza? Most will only eat 2 slices especially at a party when they want to be playing with their friends? I know I can’t eat £15’s worth, after 3 slices I’m done.

Anyway, it will probably work out less money just to buy one pizza to share? But if you’ve got enough guts to eat your daughters leftovers when she’s taken a bite out of several slices of pizza I’m sure no one would say anything.

I've not been to a pizza hut buffet for a few years, but in my (now old) experience, the buffet pizzas are nothing like the ones ordered off the menu. They are thin things with minimal toppings and gone cold from sitting on the table. Not worth what they charge. When I went with DS last time we took one look at the buffet table and ordered off the main menu.

I'm certain you can?? I mean, why not?! You're only eating what you pay for right? I.e half a pizza each.

Yes, I wouldn't be embarrassed by this at all. And if somebody I knew did this in front of me, I 1.) wouldn't be bothered in the slightest and 2.) would just have a laugh with them if anybody said anything.
No point ringing the bell of shame is there ?

Really if someone I knew did this I would pay for them as I would assume they couldn't afford it and was to embarrassedto admit it . I couldn't go out for a meal with someone sit there stuffing my face why they drank a glass of tap water

Krumblina · 14/10/2024 20:06

Kids eat free buffet in October with code SPOOKY so just pay for you!

I suppose the only way to look at it is there are prices indicating cost per person (adult or child) whether they eat 1 or 10 slices. That's just the arrangement. It's not for customers to just start making up there own pricing. Plus overheads.. your still enjoying a seat, being indoors warm, the atmosphere etc. Order off the menu instead if you don't fancy the buffet. As others have said it is likely there will also be pasta, salad, ice cream, drinks included so it's decent value.

@zeitweilig oh I am very well aware of the Gestapo. I was just wondering why the comment was so bad to you.
Considering it was a joke, and all.

It's not remotely funny.

wizzywig · 14/10/2024 20:07

I'd be embarrassed to be an adult and only able to eat 1 or 2 slices of pizza hut pizza.

LiquoriceAllsorts2 · 14/10/2024 20:08

Badgerbadgerduck · 14/10/2024 19:42

I’d say don’t do it. Not because you're ‘stealing’ - massive chains are fair game imo. But as the daughter of exactly the type of miserable git that does stuff like this, I know if you do get pulled up on it your poor daughter will be sat there wanting the earth to swallow her whole and it’s not worth potentially ruining a fun day out for your daughter just to save £15

Why are big chains fair game?

I don’t know about Pizza Hut, often they are run by franchisees who could just be an individual.
if several people do this then it pushes up prices which impacts all the other customers.

If you read the replies you don't have to wait.

I'm convinced the plot twist here is that OP works for Pizza Hut and has made this thread for publicity. It's defo worked - I fancy one myself this weekend now, thanks OP (and yes I'll be sure to measure my child's portions lest I end up finishing a slice of hers) 😂

IAKnowyou · 14/10/2024 20:10

@zeitweilig quite funny. Pizza Hut gestapo... Not far from the truth with these lot on the case.

No you can’t pay for a child and then eat a few slices of their pizza. You clearly can’t afford to eat out. Don’t embarrass yourself as you’ll get caught out. Take them to McDonalds for a happy meal instead.

Agree. Please don't you'll be humiliated if the workers rightfully call you out.

I'm actually part of the pizza secret service. I hide under the salad bar to catch dirty thieves that steal from their own children's plates 😂
I made this thread to get a rough figure of how many scroungers there are that do this 😏

What???? You can't share a pizza?

Now I'm outraged. This is insane.

I haven't been to a Pizza Hut since about 1999, and it was literally the only place for teens to go in my area. I thought the food was pretty bad even then, but I'm fairly sure about 12 of us probably shared one pizza. Which is, obviously, why the rules were changed 😂

Tink3rbell30 · 14/10/2024 20:12

I've read the replies. There's no answer to it (using a time machine to ensure portion control isn't the answer, the child has already taken more than 1 slice). Nobody will answer as they know that of course mum can have the leftover slice rather than it go in the bin but they won't admit it after being so uptight and self righteous 😂
