Pizza Hut Buffet

Posting here to hopefully get some quick answers.

So I will be going to Pizza Hut for the buffet, at the weekend with my child for one of her friend's parties.
There's a few of us going, and I've had a look online and at weekends it is 15.99 per adult and 10.99 for children !
I am absolutely not going to eat 15.99 worth of pizza! And I doubt my child will eat £11 worth.
Would I be unreasonable to just pay for my child and maybe have a slice of pizza or 2?
I know they charge different per head to stop this. But how do they police this ??
It's not a huge deal, but I would definitely like to know before I go, and like to know if other people do this or not ?
Thanks !

We have not yet had an answer to this 😬🤣

Legally they could still charge as she didn’t eat it therefore it wasn’t covered by payment. Payment covered everything eaten.
It stays as Pizza Huts property and whilst they will throw it away it is legally their property to do what they want with - not the child’s.

@Plainer oh my friend this is not my first rodeo. I have had and seen plenty of threads.. some even over a year old crop up again. Even when the OP has waved her white flag of defeat and retreated into the hole she crawled out of to ask an innocent question... people will come back just to tell her how worthless she really is for giving her 2 year old Nutella on toast.
I will be sticking around.
This was not even a goady post, but I have my popcorn now. May as well enjoy it and have a laugh.

On this occasion op, unless you're really hard up for money, I'd just pay it, it's still under 30 quid and you're getting time with friends for a catch up and a nice experience for your dd.

I’d say don’t do it. Not because you're ‘stealing’ - massive chains are fair game imo. But as the daughter of exactly the type of miserable git that does stuff like this, I know if you do get pulled up on it your poor daughter will be sat there wanting the earth to swallow her whole and it’s not worth potentially ruining a fun day out for your daughter just to save £15

It IS stealing, even from a massive chain.

Have you spent much time with the other mums. I couldn't imagine going out with someone and them doing this. I wouldn't be going out with them again

Yes, I wouldn't be embarrassed by this at all. And if somebody I knew did this in front of me, I 1.) wouldn't be bothered in the slightest and 2.) would just have a laugh with them if anybody said anything.
No point ringing the bell of shame is there ?

Is it the kids that really want the buffet? Why don't you all get the kids the buffet and then the parents share a large pizza between you - that would seem much more reasonable in terms of cost.

IAKnowyou · 14/10/2024 19:53

@dreamer24 @Tink3rbell30 ... if there is no answer given, then we must form our own morally correct answer 😂

If you don't know then I suggest some reading up on German history 1930s onward. It's an awful reference.

@zeitweilig

We haven't. The question posed by @Tink3rbell30 was:

So if the child doesn't eat all of the pizza slices she picked up despite trying to tell her not to take too many.. can OP eat the spare slice or will she be criminally charged?

The answer to that isn't take one slice at a time, is it? We don't have time machines. The question was, what happens when, despite attempting to control your child's portions, they still cannot finish their plate of pizza? Can OP eat this, or must she surrender it to the bin?

Crunchymum · 14/10/2024 19:56

In all seriousness you'll probably be 'flagged' as soon as they realise not everyone is ordering.

I remember years ago (over a decade ago) taking my niece and nephew for the buffet. I was in the throes of early pregnancy / all day sickness and couldn't face more than fizzy water. The staff watched us like absolute hawks as soon as they knew just the kids were eating. I think they'd have noticed if I'd tried to sneak so much as a crust (and judging by how diligently they were watching me I suspect they'd have snatched it out of my hand!!)

I think sharing a pizza is the best option.

You may be going with friends but no-one wants to be made to look like a cheapskate if you do get pulled up on it.

Yes, the answer is to make sure the child doesn't take more than they can eat and/or ensure it's a flavour they want. This is not rocket science.

I'll wait patiently again 😂

Moveornot2 · 14/10/2024 19:59

Just get your daughter the buffet so she can enjoy with her friends , and have a coffee yourself

Moveornot2 · 14/10/2024 20:00

That’s honestly what I’d do (but I don’t like pizza , so wouldn’t spend £16 , and I can afford it too 😆)

IAKnowyou · 14/10/2024 20:00

@Tink3rbell30 I think you'll be waiting a while for that answer 🤣
