Just that really, I've been invited to a rave with some old friends from university. I'm thinking I'm just going to look like an absolute tool arent I?

Part of me is really excited - I've not been to one since my 20s and it's so far out of my usual weekend plans but heck, you only live once right?

Aibu to go, is it a young person's game or can I still enjoy some good psytrance and a dance at 40?

You can if you want but 90% of the people there will be on drugs. So depends if that’s your scene.

Some of us menopausal folk still love a rave. Ive been to about 5 this year. Its actually better now as my kids are grown and I can recover without having to deal with them.
Perimenopause also made me give not a fuck what others think of my dancing. Being older is ace.

Post menopause, great, I've been there about ten years. During peri, a lot of women find they are knackered, especially if they have to still work full time, have children under 16 and are helping elderly relatives etc. Most women find during peri they can't drink as much. I've told younger friends to get drinking and shagging in, because sex changes for a lot of women. If your peri was 'carry on as normal' you were very unusual. Just turning 45 for both sexes usually means a drop in energy. My DD and her partner sorted their diets/exercise at 39, because they felt the drop. For anyone hesitating on anything 'because they've turned 40' I advise to go for it, because you don't know how you will age.

100% this. I was/am hit hard by peri and I can't even lift my arms slightly without them aching. I don't think I can go to a rave now as a result (I'm 54) as my DF had a heart attack at 60. I feel so unfit and put on all this weight I would be risking it. I only wish I had done more when I was able 😔

for me though I have 2 shitty autoimmune diseases since a teen so am always fatigued and feeling rubbish. Peri is worse (still in the throws) but so used to feeling ill that it just added to the rubbish!
I just have to crack on or have no life!

My friends and I have started going to raves again, we are all aged 51-60, so no, you won’t look ridiculous but it does depend where you go as some are pretty young, and some draw an older crowd. I’ve been loving it for the past couple of years, we go out about every 6 weeks.

As z massive fan of 1950s Rock and roll, but being born in 1968 ive always gone to gigs, record hops, festivals, all dayers, weekenders with people older than me.

Sadly the original teddy boys are dying off they are in their late 80s...but you still see them out and about
